I got one Jason and I like it. I have a tri - band antenna hooked up and it works good in my mobile
Around 2001 I remember buying a used Kenwood TM-742a tri-band mobile with 6m, 2m and 70cm modules. It was so neat having all three bands in ONE small radio, and unlike other models of that period such as the Yaesu FT8900R and the Standard C-5900DA, the Kenwood could actually monitor all three bands simultaneously. I know the QYT KT7900D quad bander may not be of the same overall quality as these models but it still amazes me how utterly inexpensive this radio is today for all it does.
My friend HamRadio 2.0 thank you very much for this video, you can not imagine how important it was for me.
The Mike gain is adjustable from the programming software
Thank you for the Test
Thank you for the video. I have one and use it on our 220 repeater. What I cannot find is if it can listen to the other frequencies while set on one. I have two repeaters I want to monitor and it only listens to one.
A word of warning about the 7900D from the same company! This radio is set up to transmit without the Mic attached. If the button on the right side of the screen in the middle of three other buttons is pushed the radio will go into transmit without the Mic attached. It burns up the radio if you do this without an antenna attached! Ok I'm stupid but the designer is a SOB
thanks for the review I had been looking at the qyt 8800d dual band for a while, did not know they had a quad band version.
this vid convinced me and just ordered one. Can you use an external speaker? tnx fer video.
hi I am looking at getting a QYT KT7900 for my car would the audio be improved with an external speaker as I don't want to put an expensive radio in my car incase of it being stolen
5 + years later, I have this in my car. It's a decent tx..Fair rcv. The 7900 antenna advertised on Ebay is garbage on 220, Swr varies wildly between frequencies on 2 meters. I went back to using an ancient Tram 1/4 wave dual bander mag mount.
Question about this radio. I can't find the answer to my question anywhere I've looked. Can you change the display on this radio to only display 1 channel at a time or will it only always show 4?
Jason the one question I had. Since the 4 band slots are independent is it possible to RX on more than one at a time? Maybe at least a WX alert? Thanks for your work on this! It will be my next radio.
usable in UK?
No captions - why???
i have a qyt 7900d but is giving tx stop when transmittyng you would know what the problem would be thanks
Kc5hwb how long did this radio last? is it still operational? do you have additional feedback? thanks for the videos anyway. manu
why the hell did you not test the 350band when it goes into a dumyloade? it would say something about the overal performance of the radio AND there are a lot of ppl in other parts of the world with different bandplans that would benefit
