I'm a stoic guy non problematic but sometimes my silence gets mistaken by being distant, cold or even stuck up.

I knew an ordinary heartbroken man who went silent after his wife left him. After 6 months he started to appear peaceful, and graceful. silent moments with chatter because someone told me once that when you are not pretty you need to have a personality. As I am a plain Jane I took that advice on board even though I am a bit introverted. Well, I am not sure if I am but I don't mind my own company.

So two year ago after an annoying social experience, I decided to just be on my own. The past year has been quite a bonus for me with the curtailing of many social activities due to covid.

I always felt the need to explain myself, even though it was never really necessary in my earlier days. I found that leading by example has always done more to help my reputation, rather than explain my actions to someone- especially if they're not understood at the time, or is taken negatively to someone else- there's an unheard language that, regardless what someone says about you, that someone will understand you, and probably prefer your character of silence over another's attempt to defame you. If you attempt to explain your actions out of fear of defamation, you may appear fake, desperate, and weak.

Communication is key to healthy relationships. That’s how we learn about one another and can better understand one another through explanation. I like to better understand people and can only do that if they feel open to explain. It’s you who needs to stop judging so others can open up to you and feel comfortable to share themselves with you. We are all at different places in life and constantly growing and changing as individuals. Respect that we are all at different places on this path of life and our thought patterns change throughout the process. Allow others to grow as you know that you can look back throughout your life and are not who you used to be. Allow others to find their way without judgement. Lead by example. You be the change. It starts with you.
