    I was led to believe that piston valves are preferred where you want to play lots of notes, quickly. Rotaries allow the player to glide (legato) between notes and there's less of a bump. Piston valves can be disassembled without tools, whereas, rotary valves you do need tools.

      Rotarys suck repairng wise, when the bridge that holds the keys breaks, say goodbye to being able to play notes accuratly without a bunch of mods

    Rotary Valve Trumpets? They do exist and they're fairly common in Germany.

      the Germans would prefer something that is way more mechanically complicated.
