Can you do a video on explaining the verse Leviticus 19:19 says, “Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” Because I’m worried that I’m sinning wearing more than 1 material
The laws of the old testament can be put into three categories ceremonial, civil, and moral laws. The role of ceremonial laws was fulfilled by the coming of Jesus Christ, the Civil laws by which means the jews lived are particular to their time and kind of society, we are not bond with them anymore.. But their encens or deep purpose still remains with us. Finally the moral law such as the ten commandments is valid for all times. The verse from Leviticus19:19 is mentioning some of the civil laws. That we are not supposed to literally keep.
Hello SerbiaBall, Many of the fathers of the Church have left us vast commentaries on the Scriptures. From these we see that they saw a wisdom in them far beyond what the letter might dictate. In this instance and in many instances where there is a divided material (of two kinds of material), the church fathers see this as signalling to us the straight and narrow path of virtue. If we wish to mix virtue and vice, we will be lost. The two kinds of seed will choke each other, two kinds of animal hair will not mesh well together ruining the integrity of the structure, a life mixed of death and life only leads to destruction because darkness cannot dwell with light. This is what Moses is teaching the people as per the fathers of the Church.
