If the word "fight" distracts you, feel free to use a different one. It's a minor issue. My point was that even though it is a gift (Galatians 5:22), it's something we are to work for. You can see Paul teach this in 2 Corinthians 1:24 "we are fellow WORKERS with you for your joy". Also faith and joy in God are very closely related and you can see Paul telling Timothy to "Fight the good fight of the faith." in 1 Timothy 6:12.
I was homeless and I felt Gods presence, I wasn't angry with God but I was angry at my church for turning their back on me when I needed them most, but I did feel joy, in that God was providing for me by keeping me alive and my stomach full, and He got me through it...
Our joy doesn't come from TV shows, food, family or anything else in this world. Eternal joy comes from trusting Jesus, knowing that our sadness is NEVER the final word

But a lot of my life has been spent in what we now call 'toxic positivity'; I believed falsely that I had to always be happy and smiling because that's what everyone always noticed & praised about me and I was afraid to be anything else for fear of judgement. I don’t live in Canada, but I listen to online sermons from Canadian speakers and they are having a really hard time with the government making Christianity illegal over there, but those pastors are experiencing joy because they have been gifted the gospel. Those pastors inspired be to experience joy in that sort of way too, so I praise God for that! Someday Christianity might become illegal in my country and I shall rejoice 🙏

Thank you for delivering this message and this is such a powerful message to understand. Before I became Christian, I always wondered why Christians are full of joy. Now I get it, it's because we're always full of hope, faith and joy. We are grateful for everything we have today, and if there's darkness and sorrow in our life, we believe tomorrow will be better. We believe in God's power and God's promise. We're always joyful bathing in God's love.
I love these videos, I've been reading the Bible fervently lately, but have struggled to stay focused when listening (I listen to an audio version) and have a hard time finding time to sit down and read. Listening to these videos, on the other hand, is incredibly engaging and I feel like I'm learning A LOT, very quickly, about the books that I've been struggling to learn on my own. When I go back to read or listen to the books that I'd previously struggled with, I have a much better sense of what's happening and can follow much more easily after watching or listening to these wonderful videos.
For the past 20 years this is the first time i appreciate my name I've been questioning my self why JOY is my name but now that i got more closer to God I'm thankful to have this name because it's very meaningful ❤❤😁😁

this is sooo true. unfortunately to to many people have believed the lie that Hollywood puts definitions to word like love, joy,, peace and success, etc etc. The correct understanding of what the real definition of words would be a great place to begin to transform most of the people sitting in the seats every Sunday. Then maybe we can begin the True building of God's army against the enemy thats been sitting in the seats next to everyone on Sunday and would be evicted from Gods people once and for all. It's great to see the children of Israel following Moses used as a good example for once! May we too shout for joy in prospect of our destiny and treasure in heaven, and the covering of the Lord's hand in our journey here in a dually beautiful and dreary world, if we will keep his commandments. Faith in the Lord Christ causes joy on our hearts, its a gift of the spirit that comes with the perspective of God's plan of salvation. While from learning of his perspective we become more aware of suffering in the world, we also become hopeful to see his plan come to pass, and this fills hearts fill will joy.

This is quite similar to the mindfulness practice of allowing your thoughts and emotions to rise up, to observe them, and then let them pass without attachment or clinging. We can remain in the joy of the ever-present moment with God because we know that everything else is only temporary - they are passing clouds in the sky.
Last year I did your advent devotional. I was so blessed at the explanations of the words Peace hope joy and love. I learned alot I now look at these words in Scripture differently. May the Lord continue to bless the work of your hands.
