"The level up menu is a bit too complicated" trust me, this is already alot more comprehensible than the level up menu of their pathfinder games
If you've played the Pathfinder or DnD 3.5 systems leveling up and char creation are clear and easy in Pathfinder games.
kingmaker and wotr in comparison to other dnd games are rather accessible and comfortable
I have the advantage of having played the rogue trader RPG. Infact I was the DM.

You missed the chance to take the space elf with you, letting her stand in front of the group in every fight and watch her getting mowed down hundreds of times. Why kill her once when you can make her suffer as long as the Emperor has to suffer?

What's even better is that you can gain her trust throughout the campaign, and then give probably the biggest betrayal ever to the space elf and then leave her miserable and alone.

a D100 means you're using a single 100-sided die for all skill checks in the game.
The nice thing is, it's quite a simple system, because your stats neatly translate into your base chance to succeed any test.
e.g. if you have a Weapon Skill of 55, that means you have to roll at least a 55 on a D100 to hit. So without any modifiers, your skill level = your chance of success!
the "disadvantage" of this system is a certain ... chaos factor. You can never be sure to succeed even if your character is highly proficient at something. There is always a possibility even for simple tests to go horribly wrong! But well... that's just the nature of Warhammer. The pen-and-paper game this one is based on has a reputation to be quite ... deadly at times! 😅
Reminds me of episode 1 of The All Guardsmen Party where they all had to roll like 50 characters to finish the opening battle.

I am a table top gaming nerd. Essentially, they have made a D&D/Pathfinder in 40k here, and it will be glorious

What's funny is the idea of Rogue Traders is actually the oldest part of Warhammer 40,000 lore. Originally the main Warhammer 40,000 game was called Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader with the idea being one player or both were Rogue Traders with their armies being their personal ground forces

nice, no ultrasmurf as the marine representative, looks interesting and could be a lot of fun and sink some quality time into it.
I'm seriously addicted to this game. Been playing it non-stop since release. I think its the best W40K game ever made and I've played pretty much all of them. The game is just so damn good and everything I've been looking for in a W40K game. It is complex in places but I'm one of those who love that kind of thing.

According to a leak they wanted to but someone outside of Owlcat vetoed it.
Gamesworkshop holds authority over anything within their brand and in 40k lore SoB are almost incorruptible and will refuse to be in any significant relationship.
Owlcat would literally be sued and forced to change it if they had a relationship for the SoB.
Space marines are easier to corrupt and among the space marines a space wolf would be even more likely to have a relationship.
@@icemoomoo in the lore its technically possible since they arn't under any vows of chastity BUT they are still ultra religious warrior nuns trained and indoctrinated in isolated convents since childhood, where if they were to become "distracted" by such a personal relationships and fail in their duty they might be judged to have sinned and failed and still punished harshly, -so the veto on not being allowed to romance the Sister is IMO lore accurate.
The ONLY known example i'm aware of is a Sister stationed long term at a training school who has a secret relationship with one of the other Military instructors. she also play cards, gambles and drinks with the main character.

I was going to say the same. There have been a lot of bad Warhammer games, but this one looks worth considering.
The game is fantastic and just gets better and better the more you get into it.
The game is utterly fantastic. Home run Hit. If you like 40K and you’re into the lore, you’re gonna be enamored and enthralled by it. Even if you don’t have prior knowledge of 40K, it’s a fantastic game with a really fun combat system (after a small learning curve)
It is very good so far, it feels a lot like Baldur’s Gate 3 with a 40k setting.
Only major difference is you need to tactically use cover as guns are quite common and your health goes back to full after every fight, but if you lose half health you get wounds that give negatives until you return to your ship which could be quite a while sometimes.
My knowledge of a RT before i played the game was, that the RT is allowed to trade without restrictions where and and with whom. and that they usually opperate at the borders because of that. I thought that regular traders were only allowed to ferry the same old cargo from planet A to B back and forth. (by the way: turn your unused guns and armor into the cargo hold guys, you are missing out on a lot of juicy reputation and profit factor!)
Never thought they would be treated like Royals and were the explorers that could claim newfound Worlds for their own! They are practically just right below the inquisition in the food chain. This game is a work of love, embracing the source and adding to it. I thought games like this had died out!
EDIT: Oh and yes. I cant believe how often i thought: Why do i have to deal with this? I am just a puny little normal Human! It gave me a new level of respect for the guardsman that have to deal with this sht on a regular basis. that was already quite high thanks to the "Gaunts Ghosts" books. At least we got a Vlyka Fenryka boy to deal with that sht later on (the unarguably only permanent companion on every single away mission all players take with them)
Oooh! That 3 way "alignment" system is really nice. Puritan/Dogmatic can be a bit much at time, but radical/heretic is way too much. Iconoclast seems just right as the other descriptor.
From what I've seen you can safely mix and match iconoclast with dogmatic still being a pretty hardcore believer of the Imperial Faith while also not being complete whacko.
But nothing stops you from going bonkers either way and that's great.

Ironclad - Everyone thinks you're a p***y for not commiting genocides except for Inquisition. They think you're a heretic.

I knew that Inquisition ship was a Black Ship the moment I saw the Iconographic on the walls. I am so versed in the lore and the devs stuck to it so accurately I knew what everything was before the game even pointed it out. I knew instantly that the xenos puzzle was Khnaves. I knew instantly that the big structure in space is a Webway gate etc.

Just letting you know, in all your elf hunting you missed in fact two companions - there is a possible Drukhari Companion - However I too have no Idea how to get that guy. Just had my Aeldari give him a Headshot from a mile away so we didnt really get to talk.
You kinda have to convince him to side with you in the arena somehow. I however just poked him with sharp words before shooting him in the face

Pretty sure Iconclast is the good guy as that's more focused on saving lives an making life somewhat more tolerable where Dogma is more "ends justify the means"

I hate to be that guy... but imagine a game, full of planets and solar systems you can visit, that actually has quests/lore/interesting places to visit, all of it seemingly handcrafted. The game also features the ability to extract resources from a system and set up a logistical hub in an intuitive way... Bethesda and Starfield, take notes lol.

@@nado1908 Dogmatic is doing bad things for the right reason such as purging a planet to make sure you get every heretic or shooting Xenos on sight. Heretic is mostly either making deals with heretics or just being pointlessly cruel

Well you can give in to your heretical side and embrace chaos. Also you can have different races in your retinue and even a Drukhari
Rogue Traders may be human but they are not under orders from the Imperium. They are basically free lancers with special trade privileges due to the nature and importance of what they can find in the uncharted areas of space (archeo tech weapons, STC etc). But you are not playing as the Imperium, for example illustrated by the morality system that seem to let you go full heretic if you so desire or the fact that multiple xenos can join your crew, something that no one in the Imperium, save for the Inquisition, would be able to do without being the target of said Inquisition.
Someday we will get another Ork game. Seeing as they are the only other faction thats worth a shit,

This game looks awesome but Owlcat has a habit of introducing a mini game (kingdom management/crusade mechanic) that ends up deterring me from finishing their games. Is there one in this game?
Ship battles
There is a trading side(hence the name of the game) and you can actually own and manage planets but I don't think its overly complex and actually adds to the game in a positive way.
@@Corusame The thing i hated about the last few mechanics were that they put road blocks into your exploration. Eg, you couldn't explore certain areas without completing certain sections of the the kingdom management or the crusade. Does this game do that?

Freebooters and blood axes exist for a reason, as well as (I think) non cannon ‘imperial’ orks

Rogue traders predate space marines irl rogue trader was what existed before 40k its the founder of the universe when games workshop wanted to enter sci fi they made rogue traded not this rpg kind but it was called rogue trader first because their the classical go anywhere adventerer of 40k

The good guy decisions I encountered were always iconoclast. The dogmatic ones were not good....not at all.

space wolf least likely chapter to object to 'strange rogue trader culture' ?? maybe. so easiest to implement for the majority of playthroughs?
@@gawkthimm6030 nah, white Scars or RG would definitely be less confrontational of the first foundings. But, also, when sworn into service of another, usually the Marine is expected to do things or experience things they perceive as uncomfortable.
A Deathwatch Black Templar would have to work with a librarian, or DW Red Scorpion may need to work outside the Codex, or a Marine sworn to an inquisitior may need to work with Xenos

This game is fun as hell but the performance on ps5 is so garbage. Game looks and runs like crap which is a real shame.
