Again, Focus 3 IS STILL META for SAED spam. This video is just about Savage axe playstyle.
We speedrunners dropped Focus a long time ago when using Savage Axe, and we gained more damage from this change. While us tryhards dropped it because we want more dps, casual players can also benefit from not using it, since it opens up a lot of space for quality of life skills like power prolonger, evade window, health boost and other skills.
Using Savage Axe without Focus is more efficient, and I want players to give the no Focus playstyle a try. It is weird at first, but once you get used to it the benefits outweigh the drawbacks

Very good video, started to practice and getting familiar to savage axe style (in base game charge blade seemed boring with the unga bunga SAED spamm gameplay) and i thought just by logic Savage style will not depend of focus, but a lot of people on youtube seems to believe is MANDATORY, so i started looking and found your video, this confirms my thoughts, very well explained, thanks you got a new sub!!

I have seen more and more people drop focus for alatreon and thought to myself if it's a big deal but with your explanation I will try it out today. Will need to change my habits though.

After someone told me to check another channel to get better at CB I found yours which is drastically better. I'm trying to get back to CB after leaving it behind in Iceborne. With fatty armour you can fit everything you want, so I'll ty to drop focus for 2 slots of pp and 1 evade to get that EW 5.

I still take Focus on SavAxe builds just because my muscle memory of holding down the charge slash is so ingrained, i let go too early.
More of a QoL to me than mandatory

Nice video! I agree! One tip: Dropping one focus at a time is an easy way to transition to getting uses to zero focus, from being used to focus 3.

nice thanks bro, i kinda realized this when following alatreon no focus builds but there's no better explanation like you did. although, i still not quite understand with power prolonger + savage axe style. how effective P.Prolonger 2 or 3 to maintain your phial in runs when we replace it with focus, some said better go for offensive skill.

More duration, so CB gets an extra 36 seconds on its shield when using P. Prolonger lvl 2.
Since we lose our savage axe when charging our shield. Using power prolonger is more beneficial than focus Since it yields less shield charges while focus just gives slightly faster ones.

Only drop the guard skill against Alatreon. On every other monster use either 1, 3 or 5 guard accordingly

This is wonderful, informative video, i have another question about charge blade and i will really appreciate if you see this comment. I know Artillery 5 is mandatory for impact phials SAED builds, but does Artillery 5 contribute anything for Savage axe only playstyle. I have all the other offensive skills slotted such as attack boost 7, agitator 7,peak performance 3.

It contributes a little bit, but the boost is minimal, its better if you slot in offensive guard or power prolonger 3

I don’t just use sA I use both saed and sA like smaller openings and bigger openings. I think once people realize this instead of falling too deep in the rabbit hole. And yes the size of monster matters too. But iceborne forces you to play differently. Rajang for instance savage axe mode is going to be used more so but the saed gives impact and aed. Phial damage is so minimal in savage axe mode compared to saed. So from gp I could pump rajang with over 1k damage. If going from SA to saed recharge with orange phials GP to charge phials I keep dps up. 2-400 dmg per swing with phial damage with SA then 4-800 on initial axe hit from saed with 150s from aed.

Not like agree with you. Charge blade isn't just savage axe, nor just saed. Focus is very useful skill to use when thinking about using all his resources. Yet, i understand your point and share there is no just 1 way to do things, is good to explore, and of course everyone has their preferences. In that case, nothing is mandatory unless it make your weapon useless.
