    Had mine for 5 days.
Rev matching is a dream, corners are so much fun.
Ride is a little rough, but that is the price to pay for feeing solid as a rock through the corners.
Can’t stress enough how fun it is.
I enjoy my drive to work, hard to put a value on that.

Great review Paul, seems like you could have added some mortein sponsorship too. Bang for buck I think the car is excellent, reflecting on the fact it also has warranty for non-competitive track use - what a bonus and confidence in the product from Hyundai. Looking forward to short listing this as a potential purchase later this year.

i30 is roomier too. Tbh auto is just plain better for a daily commuter car, traffic jams, suburbia, etc - I see no issue with auto hot hatches. I can’t be bothered with manuals but that doesn’t mean I don’t want a quick car.
Edit: what worries me is the suspension tune too, sometimes they’re too firm for the crappy roads we face daily. I have a SP25, more warm sedan than anything but absorbs bumps well - shame that we need to sacrifice ride comfort just for quick acceleration in a lot of these models.

@@User-cb4jm "Tbh auto is just plain better for a daily commuter car, traffic jams, suburbia, etc - I see no issue with auto hot hatches." - I love manuals, but this is the reason I ordered a DCT i30N. Tbh manual gets anoying when the car in front of you needs 10 years to to shift from first to second gear and you have to shift like a granny, or constant stop and go, drivers driving not around the speed limit, but all over it, etc.

I love that the presence of rev hang was mentioned in the review in a negative light. I feel not enough emphasis is put on this when reviewing cars marketed at the driving enthusiast, as throttle response (both opening and closing) makes a huge difference to the user experience and enjoyment in a manual car. If the car is marketed at being fun and engaging it is a huge shame when there is a noticable delay between the movements of your right foot and the rise and fall of the engine revs. In a manual-only performance car it is exponentially more disappointing again and should be made a point of.
Going further, one thing I'd also love to see in more enthusiast car reviews is a comment on how (or if) the car's different driving modes effect the rev hang. 'Sharpened throttle response' is usually the best we get when sportier driving modes are advertised, but it almost always only refers to a quicker ramp ONTO throttle for a given input, and the rev hang when coming OFF throttle is still present. Rev hang is a byproduct of the throttle closing behaviour being tuned to minimise emissions, so there is no reason the manufacturer couldn't leave it as-is for 'normal' or 'eco' modes then tune the throttle response to mimic pedal movements 1:1 in sport mode - it'd help with driving engagement in new manual cars massively. (For what it's worth, I daily drive a Kia Picanto GT which I bought brand new last year as I couldn't justify the extra $15k for a Fiesta ST. It's manual-only car and is great fun to punt around, but even with an aftermarket throttle controller the rev hang coming off throttle is pronounced and does rob the car of some driver engagement).

It is possible to get it tuned.. its just few settings of throttle body and decelerative systems.. fiesta 1.0 eco boost had the longest revhang i had seen and he went to the tuner and now it drives like NA mechanical body.. absolutley zero rev hang.. and he charged around 100e for retune.
My hyundai i20n is on order and i cant wait to get it and as i drove it normaly on testing it had very little revhang . On sporty driving its way more noticable so i will get it tuned

You do realise that this registration number has been absolutely ragged by journalists since October including 8 motor magazines including Top Gear UK in the washboard road in Western NSW. It has also been launched controlled every journ plus revved the stuffing out of it for yhe exhaust noise. So quality is completely subjective. However you didn't take it on a mountain run nor a property racetrack. That is where it shines. The Fist is great but just different . Don't know why you point out the differences between the Indian made i20 as they are no sold here. As to the Fiesta....you won't find many. .

Comparing to a Fiesta? A... Ford? I don't think I have driven any car in recent days that felt poorer in quality than my neighbors Fiesta. Just about everything felt like it was bad quality. From the gearshifter to the way it rides. Never driven the N. Just a regular i20. But that actually felt ok. And was quite a fun car. So I presume the N would be a blast.

Does anyone really notice the difference of 0.5 Celsius in the car? It just doubles the clicks to get to the desired temp. Even most home aircons are a full degree in steps. Assume you don’t care but I’ve cancelled my order and instead ordered the facelift 2022 FiST for $42k with 5 year warranty. Why do you think in NZ the i20N is worth 30% more than the FiST or Polo GTi?! Well, I can tell you it isn’t…

@@CarExpertAus can only guess that it is the fact Hyundai NZ is not owned by Hyundai, rather a local distributor - across the range, prices are outrageous. In contrast Kia NZ is owned by Kia and NZ pricing is very much aligned with pricing in Australia. As such Kia NZ basically sells twice as many cars as Hyundai NZ…
Either Hyundai NZ has insane margins or they have an ongoing feud with Hyundai Korea (or combination of both). Unfortunately no motoring journalists in NZ have taken Hyundai NZ to task over their uncompetitive pricing to find out the core reason - clearly too scared to lose advertising $.

Look at the price of the Mustang in USA compared to what Ford charges for one in OZ similarly set up. Only a fool would buy a brand car in Australia. I believe the Suzuki Vitara had a full screen integration and a couple of the Chinese made vehicles. There was supposedly an AA update late 2021 that fixes this issue but the problem is that the car manufacturers also need to bring out a firmware update on their end and many of them haven't done that. Probably the most egregious AA integration has to be the latest Subarus with the big portrait screen where it uses only the top half of the screen for the entire thing
