  • Life in a small truck bed camper - What is it like for 2 persons to live in the Ford Ranger T6 bed camper? I will show you how we make use of the small space available to cook, eat and sleep in our homebuilt pickup truck camper.
    The video about the small camper setup and systems is here: • Ford Ranger Truck Bed ...
    The truck is a 2015 Ford Ranger T6 single-cab 4x4 2.2L Turbo-Diesel pickup truck camper, fitted with a Tronador fiberglass hardtop. Inside the hardtop there is everything to cook, and sleep 2 people.

      Thanks for taking a significant amount of time to display, explain systems, thought process
      And just as important:
      Real results after significant field testing
      All too many purchase products. Walk out into their yard or adjacent field and review a product right out of the box or after a few hours of… “use”

    The center table is genius. You even have it somewhat curved to add stability when you use the platform as your bed.

    Love your camper! Great use of space. I'm working up plans to build a truck camper, with the star attraction being a 1.5 ft wide by 4 ft long by 2 ft tall polycarbonate double or triple layer layer panel greenhouse solar oven over the truck cab that not only cooks and heats water, but dries clothes and firewood. Oh and it can be vented into the small camper space to heat and cool. I wish I could fit in a canopy shell like yours but I'm 6'6" and way too tall to lay down comfortably. Happy travels!

    This is fantastic! Splendiferous even! What's the total weight in the bed when you're done? How do you feel the weight distributes when fully loaded with all your heart and supplies? How does it handle?
    See, I'm wondering if an adaptation similar to this could be used in a vehicle capable of some real off-roading. A set up like this would be so cool in a place like the Canyonlands.

    • @sinrumbo1
      @sinrumbo1  Před 4 lety

      The total weight added is about 450 kg, well within the 1200 kg payload of the truck. The weight distribution was a main factor in the decision making process. I would say the truck handles better now than before, since the rear suspension isn't as hard and bouncy once it's loaded a bit. The overall weight is shifted a bit back behind the cab, so the vehicle isn't as nose-heavy.

    Yes! To find isolated, far from civilization places is a challenge by itself and worthwhile! As centimeters make difference in a tiny living space, I would like to know you height, to compare to my 1.83m in order to evaluate if adjustments have to be made in the planning for a camper similar to yours. Thank you!

      Hello Márcio. I am 173 cm tall. My wife is slightly shorter. We have no problem cooking, eating, making the bed, etc. We got used to doing most tasks seated. Once seated the camper is surprisingly comfortable for 2. When the weather allows we prefer to be outside though.

    Can you tell what make and model your roof rack is? It seems to be impossible to find one for the single cab Ranger in Germany, that variant is extremely rare here.

    • @sinrumbo1
      @sinrumbo1  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Gerald. The roof rack is originally meant to be fitted across the truck bed. It was then modified and mounted on standard roof bars. I could not find a roof rack for a single-cab pickup truck either.
