The Renault dci 1.5 diesel engine, in 110 BHP form, is delightful - and durable. One of the nicest and most characterful engines I've experienced on any vehicle. Our courier company has several pre-2021 Citans that have done 300k+. Our best-driving Citan is a 2018 111CDI that has 345k on the clock. (Miles; not kilometres.)
The Citan rides well - better than a contemporary VW Caddy. The Citan's downsides compared with a VW Caddy are that the gearbox and clutch are heavier and less pleasant to use, there's less legroom, and the overall feel of the thing is less satisfying. (Interior design isn't great on the Citan - the Caddy feels better to interact with in most respects.) A major flaw in the Citan is the ridiculously high windscreen allied to inadequate sun visors. This is also an issue on Ford Connects.
In our experience, problems on the Citan tend to be related to electrical and emissions equipment. Especially beware of Citans that use AdBlue. These systems fail expensively. And we've had some shoddy service from the MB dealer.
I had a company one for about 8 months, I put 12,000 miles on it with no problems at all.
Great little buyers guide for this van Grant.
Excellent info mate. Thanks a lot.
Scary how many recall there are one these vans lol
Most useful. Thank you!
Very useful, thanks
Does a renault kangoo have the same problems?
Thanks for sharing
Not sure what milage are you reviewing, i have since new 2018 citan with 40.000km, no faults what so ever, runs perfect, i did first service in mercedes at 30.000km. Its very economical and very low taxes. Perfect for small companies.
Perfect just what I needed to know, since I am starting a business and need a car like this.
@@sah_nixumsonst4613 have 46.000km curently, no faults or flaws what so ever, driving it as daily
@@coolmkdmacedonia thanks, because I am about to buy a Citan Tourer 112 with 17000km 1,2L 114HP Benzin automatic, not Diesel, I just wanted to inform myself about the car before buying it you know.
I just passed MOT today, 50320km curently, no faults. Just tank and drive.
Could you try and do a buyers guide for an M140i ?
We have one lined up! Coming soon
Think I'll stick with the Peugeot Partner.
Interior motion sensor alarms on my companies fleet of 5 have gone off every night the temperature goes below 5 degrees. Hope you have patient neighbours as there is currently no fix.
This is the 2023 new UK model*
Fu*^%! I just bought mine. I live in Sweden 😅
Should I buy one of these 190k miles 2013 version, 12 months MOT, and had a service done 5 months ago? its going for 3k
High mileage so be extra careful checking it over, some get a rough life! Is it a private sale or garage?
@@ScottishCarClan its in great condition and only had the one owner. Got 12 month mot serviced 5 months ago, has all paperwork.
I have one which has injector problems 🤦♂️ 30k on clock Mercedes’ completely binned me off. Has not been cheap ££££
I have had my citan 5 years it had 136000 miles when I got it now it’s on 199000 miles best van I’ve had
What is it model please
im very late to the comments but, although the recalls, why only 6/10.
Yip
I have 1 and it does the job
Definite Renault feel inside
Would you say you payed Renault or Mercedes’ prices to buy?
@@ScottishCarClan mine had 115000 on the clock
65 plate and immaculate for 4250 private sale 18 months ago so am happy
Sliding doors are clunky but I can’t complain
50/50
I’d agree Craig the van does the job. Cheap and reliable. No complaints so far other than that sliding door😆
Honestly a bit of a shite van - Ha done for about 18 months, body control module failure causing it not to lock and ignition barrel failure. Add to that the worst designed dash in a van I've driven, electronics don't tell you if you have a bulb out and driver computer is convoluted. Stock radio was rubbish too.
mine has 504k!
No way! miles!?
Only downside is being a Renault engine.
Which one, the petrol or the 1.5 diesel engine?
@@vroomlyvaleting The diesel. Its renault 1.5 dci
@@KevinColt the whole van is Renault & made by Renault. Minor differences in every panel & a difference front end + dash. Engine is good for 300k but the gear box isn't :)
Not a downside - from a driving p.o.v. anyway. The Renault dci 1.5, in 110 BHP form, is delightful. One of the nicest and most characterful engines I've experienced on any vehicle.
Prettier than Kangoo 😏
Just a rebadged Renault really
Yip
They also use Nissan navara body’s for the mercedes pickup
You would of thought mb would come up with their own derivatives of commercial vehicles
@@craigjones7773 ye Ikr and don't get me started on the eqs that thing ugly
So what , good Renault diesel engines
Don’t buy one the gearboxes are like chocolate . Trust me I know
You had to replace?
I had a gearbox go at 182000 miles
@@paulhenson6893 well that's a lot of miles
Cheers mate. Very informative 👏 👌 👍
No problem 👍
