My EV is fitted with an amazing device, a HORN. All new EV's have to emit a sound below 20MPH. I see this report was up to 2017 before the sound was mandatory. In 5 years of EV driving I've not noticed any issue with pedestrains and, as I'm sure you will have seen from tests on the large CZcams car channels, they have shown above 25mph there is no significant difference in noise levels. Modern petrol cars have quiet engines and the sound you hear is the rumble of the tyres.

The burbles, Pops and bangs are due to engine mapping, which causes an over fuel. Thus you get the audible drama. I had a Porsche sports exhaust retrofitted to a car that came out the factory without it and it still didn’t sound as good as the factory fitted cars. Following investigation by my independent Porsche specialist, it was identified as a setting that had to be adjusted by the PIWIS, and hey presto, once the Sports Exhaust button was switched on. I suspect therefore in order to get that sound that you refer to in the v10’s it will require some sort of engine mapping change.

Budget tyres are on there because the track tyres were taken off haha. Look, the tyres are like new!

It’s interesting how you have framed the question, because you have highlighted a major problem experienced by one owner of an EV. Example; only recently when my car was being serviced by my local garage. The owner told me that they had a car that wasn’t even 2 years old and it had never been serviced. This was a non-EV car by the way. The owner of the car never thought to have it serviced and only bought it into the garage because the display was lighting up like a Christmas tree. So the real question is would you buy an EV if there is a complete service record?

Bullsh1t ,that mayonnaise sometimes it's there coz you do short drives , not necessarily head gasket come on 😉

This mayonnaise effect on oil filler caps in modern cars is far more likely to be condensation from short journeys, however if you're head gasket has gone you will very quickly find out

Is a head gasket really looked at as a “serious engine problem” 😂 it’s a gasket! There designed todo that hence them being there I would consider snapped timing chain/belt bent valves or blown piston as a serious engine problem go check ya bathroom I’ll bet you’ll find bad gaskets there to 😂

Here's 1 thing you should always clean when selling a used car.

Not accurate, head gasket failure other checks need to be done, not gunk or mayonnaise looking oil.

Could be that there's dang all wrong with the engine and she's ready for a good send until the service light comes on

After sifting out the myths and nonsense online I bought a 2nd hand 2021 Nissan Leaf and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. I do agree not to buy an ex lease vehicle but buying a 2nd hand ev is an amazing bargain. Insurance exactly the same, my running costs dropped from £60 to £6 for equivalent miles when compared to my petrol corsa and no road tax anymore. It has more gadgets than I could want, super fast around town and on the dual carriageway and top up the battery about once a week. With a battery warranty for 100k miles or 8 years I’ve got years of fun worry free driving ahead.

Imagine an EV with a noise maker stuck in stop and go, rush hour traffic. . . .

My 69 plate only issue was the adblue tank malfunction. After a few called out, LR changed the tank, problem went away. No other issue.

Great vid Grant! Would just say if you’ve not got the budget for an RS4 just get an S4 Quattro cabrio! I had one for a whole summer a few years back and it was the nuts! Fantastic V8 power and 4wd,lovely leather/alcantara interior,brilliant. Just beware of any timing chain chatter or mayo under the oil cap, both jobs require engine out to fix!😢

I have a 2017 S-Line Quattro 2.0 190PS automatic. I’ve had it 6 months from new. As a 7 year old car I’ve put less than 30k miles on it but I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s like an appliance - a great looking appliance. It’s my 3rd A3 in a row lol. My previous was 2011 TDI Sport 2.0 180PS automatic - it had no problems til I gave it to my sister. She ran it into the ground unfortunately and it got scrapped last year. The one before that was a 2006 TDI 2.0 manual.

Just my opinion, but 4 seater soft tops don't look right.

Only time to have bought one was when they were still being produced. Prices are stupid now for low mileage examples. People rich enough to buy one as an investment and store it are still being ripped off paying twice the original price. Once the value of anything gets far too high, the profit has already been made by someone else. It’s like buying a 500k house that was 10k in the 1970s. It wont go up another 490k, you are simply too late. It’s already been done. Same goes for a lot of classic cars.

Great for the few dry days in the year that we have in soggy North Wales but driving around without a solid metal roof above my head is not what i call worth the risk. Having been upside down in a car that failed to take a corner (Driver error, i was not the driver!) learns you to be grateful for a solid metal roof. Yes you can get folding metal roofs, but they can and do leak and fail when it is raining !

I've had my 2019MY Evoque from new. 105k on the clock. Zero issues. All makes of cars have issues.

How about high powered external speakers that sound like Ferrari V8. Maybe enhance that to give the driver choices of other ICE sounds. Suberu WRX, Honda K2000 type R, Bugatti Chiron. Haha😁🙈

My girlfriend bought one half a year ago, one with 90k kms on it and the list with reasons its been in the garage 6 times is : 2x engine fault light, motor mount broken of at the metal part, cooling fan not working anymore, steering rack making noice and oh yeah the rad started leaking too. So my view is stay the hell away from opel!

I have a 64 plate sd4 dynamic, i have put 50k + on my 2.2 d. Only issues i ever had are all tech issues, never mechanical. Door lock failed and the rear camera. Otherwise this has been the most reliable car i ever owned. Its now sat at 102k and still running strong.
