- Well we have never had this happen on one of our Busted Knuckle Ride and Review videos. We got a brand new Can Am Maverick R and were ready to really test it out on the track at Stony Lonesome OHV park until we found out that it was overheating badly and you will never guess the cause! The good news is that the dealer was able to fix it and we went back and finished up our in depth Maverick R review and we can't wait for you to see our thoughts on this rowdy machine. That review is spot on, I got one. 100 miles so far. I might add if the motor stalls or shuts off, it automatically go to park.definitely all west coast machines.

I own one. It’s a significant improvement over the X3. I’ve also driven( not owned ) a pro r. The Mav r is truly special

17:55 - nice corner shots. It really helps show the power / traction and suspension working. It looks like it isn't prone to rolling over or digging in. Nice tracking shots too. Great feedback for Can Am and potential customers.
22:11 - That's another point of adjustment for Can Am, the brightness of their buttons. I don't know if rocker switches would be okay there, since things could fall on it and muck with the settings.
25:46 - That thing is really riding out those trailing arms on the rear suspension. Is that common?
26:20 - Yep... haha.
27:55 - That's disappointing.
30:30 - I wouldn't have thought you could ever drive up that.

I bought a yxz, and I learned quick, you cannot attack hills like a rzr. When I did hill assault it was at 9000 rpm, it's violent. I just don't know if I could do that to a 40k machine. I bought mine for 15...

At 32:00 I had to pause to look at those welds on the A pillar. Something special.

In my opinion for the price these things should have the readout that's like in a range Rover or whatever that shows your your tip and your elevation and your angle that gimbal thing and the dashboard so you can know if you're at tip zone or flip zone or whatever like that would be a nice feature for these things

I usually walk right through that area in every machine that I test. I was shocked that it struggled so hard there.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo same for me walked it multiple times in one night next time was a totally different story and looks identical to how it did before crazy stuff great video though. It overheating was a fault of the dealer when assembled sucks that it messed up your runs on the track
yeah we were surprised that the dealer overlooked that but glad it was an easy fix and we got to go back and finish our review

Isn’t there a break in period? You said it has 4 miles. Should you be driving that hard with such low miles? Just curious because I am buying one
And that’s why you don’t purchase any vehicles with up to 300 miles on it when the sellers says new, someone else already broke it for you.

Engines are already broken in. You dont want them to brake. So warm them up first.

I bought this maverick r I am coming from my 22 xrs smart shox totally diferent beast I love it
They are awesome in the right terrain, I just expected more of a well rounded machine in all aspects.

As far as Can-Am will climb rocks better I think it's more the driver learn how to drive the vehicle it will get better because I have absolutely no problem with mine just going up normal instead of trying to go real slow and rock your way up because a few of the times that I saw you go up continuously without trying to Potter the machine it went up with no problem at all so with me driving it and having no problem and seeing you having problems with it not driving it properly you need to get used to how beautiful the machine is and how capable it is without trying to think it's a toy I'm giving it no juice whatsoever that is the issue that you are having. The vehicle is a beast and if you know how to drive you will have so much fun you won't know what to do with it.
It is a beast in certain terrain. I personally just did not like it in our terrain.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo The thing is this it was redesigned from the ground up and it was made to climb rocks and other terrain like you would normally drive a car not a rock climbing side-by-side so all you have to do is just give it a little bit of gas and do not let up on the pedal and you will find yourself at the top of the hill that was your issue you continue to baby it and that's not what that vehicle is about. Driving mine I have not had a problem of going up any Hill whether it is rocks dirt mud whatever as long as you drive it in the way it was intended and also to put it in the right mode and I have never gotten stuck. I am even waiting for the snow the two of them that I purchased I have at my Utah home and I bought tracks for them so I can go in the backcountry that's what's so awesome about the Can-Am X3 turbo for the are R. This is also the reason why I told you when you try to climb that rock wall normally as you drive a car on the road you noticed that the vehicle continued to go straight up to the top but when you played with it you continue to have problems that's why you have to know how to drive that vehicle. It's kind of the same thing like driving an old Porsche 911 Turbo you can't drive it like a regular rear-wheel drive car with a front engine especially when you are going around a turn you do not break you accelerate your way around the turn otherwise you will find yourself in serious trouble so that's why you need to be able to know how to drive the vehicle you are driving. The other thing is in that era Porsche is the Porsche 911 is the only vehicle where the pedals are pushed straight up instead of push down another reason why you have to know drive the car you are driving properly
First off, this is not my machine so I will drive it within the limits of the situation. Secondly, utah has to be the easiest place to wheel on the planet aka "the land of traction". Alabama is not like that at all. I gave my thoughts and honest opinion. You don't have to try to justify your purchase with me. I wouldn't buy one but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. To each their own.
Seems you are used to the RZRs and this is different and you’re not used to something different. I have a RZR and I will be purchasing a Maverick R 4 seater when it comes out because of the DCT transmission- I’m done changing belts in the sand and this will rock crawl with anything as well
For the sand it’s perfect, I just prefer CVT and never have belt issues. Just my personal opinion.

X3 is still top of the line for fast and light... Turbo R, Pro R suspension is top of the line in my opinion
X3 power to weight ratio is hard to beat and those little motors make big power, that being said I would like to build a boosted Pro R next.

I'm just amazed what these cost. I'm pretty sure it would break down easily where I'm riding. East Tennessee
they are pricey but people are paying it to more power to them.
They take a beating. But it’s definitely a weird machine for the south east
It wouldnt break down. Trust us, we put ours through some hard core miles at King of the Hammers. Zero breakage other than a flat. VERY tough machine. Front arm design is amazing and a ton stronger than traditional suspension.
In all my times to Stony I have never seen the track dry. lol

I haven't got to get a lot of seat time in an X3, I just know they easily make very good power and do really well racing
No, i hope they do not EVER do that. You obveously havent driven a Maverick R. Drive one for 5 minutes and you will see why this design BLOWS away, and i mean by a mile, anything else.
How does the maverick r with smart shocks compare to a turbo r or pro r with dynamixs? From my experience, I think the rzr suspension is better over all. Do you have anything to add to this?

I guess we both are. He bought this one thinking he would like it and it just doesn't fit for what we do. The Pro R outshines it for our terrain.
Honestly it looked as if you were only looking to find stuff to complain about because you’re a Polaris guy. A better test would have been to show a Rzr doing the exact same tests right behind the maverick. I didn’t see a Fail!
I have done this same course in every RZR, General, etc I have ever tested. That is what I am comparing. the Maverick R is just not a trail machine/rock crawler
45K!!!!!! I remember when the RZR800 was released and I said to my buddy. Oh heck yeah they are cool but 5K! The my life changed because I paid my 5k, got an 08 RZR800 and the rest is history, they became a huge part of my life. I would never have got involved at 45K rotfl.
I feel like 10-20k is the perfect range
45 grand, I’ve built my 1 ton LS jk for a fraction of that.

It's a machine for the dunes & wide open spaces and nothing more. We had ours for 8 months and got rid of it because it sucked on the trails and rocks up here in northern Wisconsin. Went and Got a 2024 Polaris Pro R to replace it and couldn't be happier. 10x more versatile machine compared to the Can-Am.
I do like the Pro R better as well

I was kidding of course at the fact that he always buys and sells machines so fast. Works out good for me that he allows me to drive and review them.
It’s almost looks like you have to “bump and run” every obstacle because it can’t crawl really.

That front suspension looks horrendous… Looks like it’ll hang up on everything and one good hit will probably destroy it and cost a fortune, including the fact that tire size will be limited also. Just my opinion and thanks for great content Matt.

I have a 2023 Turbo R Ultimate n my buddy got a Maverick R n we drove in Sand Hollow Utah n it popped in neutral climbing a few times , so put it in manual n it didn’t go in neutral when the wheels came the ground lol 😂- did really good in the dune part , it’s fast for sure -I agree with u not a trail machine n it’s loud as F to - My Turbo R handle better n drove better over small chop n the big stuff n climbed better - Guess for dunes n wide open it rips n handles better in high speeds - Nice machine not for me . Stick with my Turbo R
They are really fast in the open areas. I’d choose the pro R over it for the rocks

It’s a nice machine but I know it has can am build quality and reliability so it’s just an instant turn off. And the price tag on it is outrageous for what you get.
It is on another level compared to past UTVs and I guess the market can bare the price tag as people are buying them.

The Pro R is one of the best rock crawling machines I’ve ever driven. I even put 37s on a bone stock one and it did amazing.
Rock crawling with a dct will destroy the cluches in no time

If you want a rock crawler, get an X3 XRC, not meant to be a rock crawler….. next 👍🏻

Plastic crap flying off in the first 50 feet. I think that is an indication of it's long term durability.

I can see only a 4 point harness. That's a huge fail for Can-Am. Without that 5th belt even a minor mistake at speed can have horrible consequences. It's not expensive, it's not dificult. Don't be a fool. Fix it.

Nope, MRT Rocky RX. They are comparable to a Nitto or Zilla but also come with a Kevlar Warranty.

@BustedKnuckleVideo I just went back and watched it on my phone, was using a laptop. Even with the speaker on my phone it still seems a little loud. I have to lower the volume for that part and then increase the volume after to hear you talk. I'll try on another system. Maybe it's just weird on my devices.
