So this week I made a floral balloon garland. The entire thing took me around 2 hours to complete and was super cost efficient. I love your work thanks for the ideas. I can't find the hula hoops at dollar store in my area and I called and they said they discontinued the item. Do you have suggestions on how to get the hula hoops. I looked on Amazon and they didn't look like the right kind. And suggestions please?

Hi Sumaya!! :) I purchased the hoops from The Dollar Tree. I used two of them to make one big hoop. Also my personal cost for this project was just $20 because I used my bedroom curtains and already had a backdrop stand and flowers. However if you have none of the materials and are doing this from scratch then it would cost you between $80-$100. I want to do this same concept, a balloon garland draped over a backdrop for a photo booth look. I'm concerned about tying it to the top because the fabric would be in the way. Do you have any suggestions on that?
The sides would be fine because I can lift up the sheet and tie directly to the backdrop post. Not sure about the top tho
I tied the balloon garland to the top rod with no problem because the curtains were in 4 panels, but if you are using a one piece backdrop for a photo booth then you could just tape it to the back of the photo booth. So instead of using fishing line to tie to the center of the balloon garland I would tie a long piece of ribbon to the center of the garland. Then tape the other end of the ribbon to the back of the photo booth to hold it in place. Use a lot of tape and it should hold. I used ribbon and tape before to hold up a balloon garland on a wall before and it works great.

Thanks so much!! So I'm not an event planner or anything like that. I make all this decor for parties that I have for my cousins, and family. I've never charged and would have no idea how much something like this would even be worth. I will say this though. It is a lot of labor so don't cheat yourself. lol Good luck!!!

It works for this backdrop, but this backdrop stand will not support super heavy backdrops, but it worked for my purposes.
Can you confirm the clips you advise to hold the arch ?
Hi do you think this would be ok to make the night before a party ? I’m just worried about the balloons looking deflated the next day but I also don’t want to be rushing the day of to make it
So I always make my balloon garlands the day before the event. I buy all my balloons from Wal-Mart and only the bags that are 0.99cents. So it's not like I'm buying expensive balloons at all. The garland does not noticeably deflate until 2-3 days after you've made the garland. In fact the photos for the thumbnail in this video are from the morning after I had made this garland. The only thing that did fall the next morning were the wood letters. They were pretty heavy. The next morning when I went to see the backdrop the letters had fallen to the ground so I would recommend taping those the day of, but the balloon garland should always be made the day before the event because it does take a few hours to set up. :) Good luck!!!

Can the balloon last for more than a day? Like making it in the evening and the event will be the night after?
Yes! I made all my balloon garlands 24 hours before any event and they do not noticeably deflate.
It can last months

How do you go about moving it to a different location ? Have you ever had to transport backdrops to a party room the day of ?
So I've never had to transport them to a different location, but if I did then I would definitely build the balloon garland in segments. Meaning start and finish the fishing line after you've made a group of 40 balloons or so. Make the balloon groups as big as they will fit in whatever vehicle you are transporting them in. Next when I get to the party room I would just use 2-3 pieces of fishing line to tie all the groups together.

I make them the day before an event, but you could also make it two days before if you need to.

They were actually wood letters that I purchased and glued together from Hobby Lobby. The size of the wood letters was 9.5inches.

How many time do you spend making the balloon garland?
I've made many balloon garland at this point. It takes me around an hour to make a garland this size, but if it is your first time making it then I'd say to give yourself at least 2 hours.

I purchased the machine at Hobby Lobby for $17 using my 40% coupon, but Wal-Mart also has the same exact machine for $17 regular price. :) The balloon pump is a time saver!!

I made this the day before, but you can make it even two days before the event, but I would recommend not doing it any earlier because the balloons will noticeably deflate. Also the wood letters started to fall after 24 hours so maybe add the letters the day before the event. Thanks and good luck!!
