If you'd like to be able to refer back to the exercises in this video with ease, I've created a blog post to document the steps here: orlastevens.substack.com/p/3-exercises-to-strengthen-our-imagination 🌻
These are just 3 exercises to try out - I'd love to know how you generate ideas and explore imagination!
Your videos are just SO very pleasing! They are calm, comforting, and quite inspiring. You speak so clearly and you have such an encouraging way about you. Thank you. I think that you are wonderful!
That is so kind, thank you! Really glad you’re enjoying them 😄
Thank you Orla for sharing these exercises and how they work together in succesion. This is something I struggle with and i will definitely be using in my practice.
Warmest regards Lisa
Thanks so much Lisa! I hope they help :)
This is such a good video, these exercises are brilliant ☺☺
Thank you! ☺️
Thank you for sharing these exercises. I wish i had all of that documentation like you have. Im too much in a hurry to come up with nothing. Ill have to try dumping the stuff in my mind. And start writing. Your paintings always come out amazing.
I hope they help! oh don't worry I come up with my fair share of nothing too over the years, it's all part of the process :) thank you so much!
I love Love LOVE your videos ORLA! Cant wait to try these great ideas out myself 🏝🌞
I, too, am process led. I resonate very much with how you work, etc. I used to find it hard, getting past the idea of it has to look like something. But, you have helped me get past the idea of detailed work and allowing process and flow direct me to something I love. Thank you for all you do and share. ❤
That’s so exciting to hear! Really glad the videos have helped 🩵
This is so lovely! I'm glad CZcams has recommended your channel to me. I'm excited to give these a try, as I never do abstract/emotional work! You're breaking down the challenge in a way that feels a lot more feasible. xx
That is so great to hear! I hope you enjoy the process, once you find a way in to it I think it’s really rewarding ☺️
I love how engaging your videos are Orla you never fail to inspire me in one way or another the paintings look amazing thanks for sharing ❤😊
Thank youuu!! 💫
Love the video!😊
thank you! ☺️
Thank you for this! Your videos really inspire me. There is a quiet poetry about the way you work and share your process. Just this morning I wrote "use your imagination" - the algorithms must've read my diary :)
I love coincidences like these, that’s so cool! Thank you so much 😊
your videos make me think differently about art.
Thank you! ☺️
My shift from software engineer to passionate artist is finally started
Its tricky and full of vulnerability
But i know the end of it will be rewarding
Wish me luck guys
Woohoo that’s so exciting!!!💥 best of luck, you got this!
I soooo needed this video today - thank you Orla!!🎉❤
Aw so glad it helped! 💫🩵
Thank you for sharing your process and clear guidelines. Helpful, for me especially the last step
Thank you! 💫
great blog, you got my subscription. Thanks Orla.
Thanks so much! And welcome! 👋😊
I began painting representationally and continued like this for decades, but I came to realise that 'something' was missing. Then four years ago I began to work intuitively with abstracts. A couple of months ago I decided I wanted to find a way to paint the landscapes of the Artic and Antarctic which have always fascinated me. Having done some copies of some photos I got stuck because I wanted them to be abstracted.
It was thanks to you that eventually found a way to do it. I followed your process and discovered three words that expressed why these areas moved me so much. My work now has so much more meaning for me.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, processes and beautiful work!
That is so beautiful, I’m so glad it helped you with your paintings! What a place to be inspired by, I hope to visit there too one day 🩵
Back in 1970 I worked cataloguing the art in the archives of the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge . My love for the ice regions began then. But also then no women were allowed on Antarctica and there was definitely no tourism allowed. Times have changed 😄! I hope you manage to get there.
I love your use of colour
Thank you! 😊 🎨
for me it has been about no quiet, natural lighted safe space, just space.
always moving, no room and more than half of what I make for no sleep.
I am considering car living, but need to work too
so appreciate you sharing…
Thank you Angie! ☺️
Bless ya ❤ 👍🏾
Where are you from I can't identify the accent?
