    Just brilliant to see them.Age has nothing to do with talent.Unfortunately we have such depressive 'so called music', (more like tribal war like fanatics', no uplifting rythum or happiness .Just loving hearing "The Searchers'.Thanks so much.When you love music you never tire of it.

    A great band and a great show. Frank has to be the best front man of any sixties band he hits just the right mix of comedy and driving the show. The musicianship is excellent too. I am overdue a Searchers night out.

    Great! Loved them as a kid, still do 50 years on. Looking forward to seeing them in Worthing later in 2014, if I can sneak out of the nursing home…... Good to hear them doing 'Farmer John', 'Love Potion No.9' and 'Ain't gonna kiss you off' their hit ep. Hope they'll consider doing 'I'll be missing you' - one of their best 'b' sides. Thanks for filming it. Don in E.Sussex

I have been two more searches show as I can remember and every time I see them there's Blow Me Away they've got a great rapport on stage and then one of my favourite bands from the 60s does he live followed by the Herman's Hermits and The Hollies

    some on here are cruel calling the Currant searchers washed up or not the searchers of the early 60s ..Frank Allen started in 64 and spencer was in the band in the mid 80s so thats very good talent in my books and they sound really good just look at Johns action while playing the 12 string on When you Walk in the room ....

    How capable are the critics on here, of playing instruments or singing. You need to look at your own inferiorities before making judgement of those that are still very popular and capable.

      @rigbyfin Před 8 lety

      +smokie yes, I know that. I meant from 30 years ago when he joined the searchers. although he and Eddie Richards and Robin Shaw continued on as First Class. He was also lead singer for Nightfly as well.

    • @rigbyfin
      @rigbyfin Před 8 lety

      +smokie Tony Burrows was lead singer for everybody in the early 70s. First Class, White Plains, Edison Lighthouse, the Pipkins, Flower Pot Men and Brotherhood of Man. a lot of the musicians were plug and play as well. Eddie Richards played in Edison Lighthouse, and Robin Shaw was in White Plains

    Interesting take on "Young Girl." I always wondered, what is a Union Gap anyway? But playing "Twist and Shout" seems like pandering. Good performance though.

    • @gregyoung5634
      @gregyoung5634 Před 10 lety

      Hi Elliott - I'm not clear on your comment re: "Twist and Shout", on which Tony Jackson took the original lead vocal, on The Searchers' debut 1963 album "Meet The Searchers". "Union Gap" is a city in the state of Washington, USA.

    • @ElliottMichaels56
      @ElliottMichaels56 Před 10 lety

      Greg Young Okay, Greg, I guess this was just my ignorance. I wasn't aware that the Searchers also recorded "Twist and Shout" before the Beatles. I was only aware of the Isley Brothers' version (presumably the original) and of course the Beatles' cover. I didn't know the Searchers also recorded it. I would be most interested in hearing their original recording of the song.

    • @ElliottMichaels56
      @ElliottMichaels56 Před 10 lety

      Greg Young Okay, Greg, I just found and listened to the Searchers' old recording of "Twist & Shout," on which Mr. Jackson sings lead, and it was quite interesting. I still prefer the Beatles' take on it, but perhaps it's simply that I'm used to the Beatles' take on it. On another point, Greg, recently I saw an oldies revival fund-raising presentation on public television, on which Mike Pender performed with his own version of "The Searchers," performing "Needles & Pins." What happened? Did Pender choose not to stay with the rest of the group, or did the rest of the group choose not to play this fund-raising special for PBS? Why do personal differences and politics often get in the way of good music!?

    • @rigbyfin
      @rigbyfin Před 8 lety

      +Elliott Michaels Pender Left the group in the mid 80s. John McNally remembered Spencer James from having shared the stage with the group Nightfly a few years earlier and called him up to replace Pender (Spencer had previously played with The First Class "Beach Baby ") later pender decided he didn't want to retire after all. Spencer has been with the Searchers since 85

    • @archiefury
      @archiefury Před 5 lety +2

      Jim Barnett - Your comment is ridiculous given that Tony left the Searchers 52 years before you made your post. Get a grip!! Tony Jackson wasnt as good a bass player as Frank and he certainly wasnt the front man that Frank became. I admit that Tony was a better lead vocalist than Frank (but Frank's harmonies were better), but given that Tony had been squeezed out of the lead singer spot some six months before he eventually left the Searchers, even that comparison is silly. As my mum used to say to me, If cant say anything pleasant, dont say anything.
