The audio was so relaxing but watching the close jumps had my heart pumping haha (ps I haven’t played this one but I think you have to hold a button to run faster in some Mario games, so maybe that’s why it felt sluggish? B button I think?)

You are correct. It depends on the button layout, but there should be a button you can hold down to run faster and it definitely makes it faster and more fluid

I haven't played Mario in a long time, I recently played through 3d land and now I'm working on new super Mario bros. Also if you have a computer or Xbox, try house flipper on that. I'm a massive HF fan and the switch version is so far behind.

If you press the X and Y button at the same time, Mario runs faster, as well as you can make bigger jumps

You should always hold X or Y to get Mario to run faster and if you use X to run faster you can click A to jump and if you use Y you can use B to jump it’s easier control and pros use that not needing to hold to jump but can also click as long as you need to get to the next platform cause he can jump higher
