Glad everyone enjoyed the review of my 911s Cab and loved everyone's comments.
Falling in love with that Gorgeous Red/Black interior , there are not may exterior colors to choose from that match. Black White or Caulk . In my cars case Carrera White is more like a dirty white vs the white , and makes the car just so more sexy looking !
The decals where a back and forth call, but can be easily removed, if there don't grown on you.
Nick, I didn't think to mention, we should have reviewed and drove the car with the top up, the wind noise is not real noticeable unless your over 80 mph.
Anyhow , Its a great fun car , I may love being a poser more then shifting the manual transmission !
Thanks Everyone
Mike
yaaaaah to no pee dee kayyy
beautiful spec! nicely done
Thx for teaming up with Nick so all of us can learn something about 911 cabriolets. Love those honest and down to earth reviews, which aren't sponsored or anything.
I can't imagine what people think when they see a middle aged man driving around in a $100K+ 911 cabriolet with a stuffed Gorilla in the back seat.
... and filming himself :-D
Nothing more normal in the world.
Well, I think I can... ;)
They think he is a tad mad but likely has money all over the place because he likely has never been married saving him a zillion dollars in wife keeping expenses like haircuts, eyelash extensions, fingernails and thousands on little jars of cream stuff that was extruded from the private parts of horses. So they think there goes a guy who is enjoying his life and has the time and mental happiness to put a stuffed gorilla in his car to substitute for the true luxury purchase a - good looking wife. I had a not so attractive wife and in retrospect she was a lot cheaper and was more useful than my several model caliber wives . Kind of like how Nick has found that his older model - already dented and in poor shape overall - is actually a lot more enjoyable than a brand new 992 that is too pretty to drive in the rain with top down and must be parked hundreds of feet away from other cars and you can’t give to a valet.
In conclusion- all the other guys that see you a smart guy that got away - and is enjoying his stuffed animals and all the gals think there is a guy that some gal should corral and take away his silly impractical car and his stuffed animals. Most guys would love some flashing light things all over their house - but what wife would allow that? I had one of those cool Lava Lamps I bought on Amazon on a whim to revisit my college days and how long do you think that lasted in “our” bedroom.
Then there are some people who assume you are a poser who bought an older cheap Porsche convertible who wants to date 20 year olds who don’t know your car was not particularly expensive because all Porsche sports cars look the same to a 20 year old girl and they still love cuddling stuffed animals. The only additional lure you need are two really cute dogs - young ladies love small dogs in the back seat…. Oh yeah…. Nevermind….
@@atlasrex You see marriage so pessimistically. I feel bad for you.
That cabriolet with a MT will instantly be a unicorn. I would take it.
if anything, the FedEx joke was worth watching this video
992 cab is absolutely stunning. best looking 911 cab ever if you ask me
The gorilla ears flapping made me happy
Would be great if you could do a similar episode with the new 992 Targa!
Second this!
I owned a 2013 Carrera S Cab with the 7 Spd manual. So I am a fan of a Porsche drop top ! to me there is nothing like open top driving !
Great to see you again Nick (and William)
Great spec on your friend's cabriolet. The full colour-matched leather seatbacks are a smart touch as they're fully visible to others when top-down.
Good to see you’re all well, great video as always, cheers Nick.
Actually it is not a soft top. There are 4 magnessium panels (if you include the one that rear window is placed on) which are covered by canvas top, thus result in coupe like noise insulation when the top is up. Also when the rear quarter windows are closed, it cuts the wind coming from 3/4 quarter of the car.
Forget the haters Nick. You're great!
How can anyone hate Nick? Such a gracious, delightful guy he is.
Nick loves dogs, he has to be a good guy! 😀
Beautiful! Thanks, Nick
Yay, new Nick Murray content! I hope you get your hands on a 992 Turbo S/Turbo S Cab soon!
I have rented a 991 cabriolet for one day. One of the most memorable and fun times I had. The engine sound is amazing with the open top. Still dreaming about having one
Great review - never understood the poser comment as some of the most classic Porsches ever and sports cars in general were ragtops - speedster, convertible D, XK120/40/50 etc.
Finally you put up the wind screen silly! You can’t beat the ride with the top down, and the soft top insulation is great when the top is up. What’s not to love???
I drove a 991 cabriolet year round in NYC, Michelin Alpin's and all. The ass frying seat heater, oven blast heat and wind deflector had be going top down comfortably even in the 50's.
(Fairfield serviced of course)
A few points Nick, love the wackiness of your videos and I too own a 993 cabriolet so…
1. Living in the UK and Canada I always envisioned owning a 911 coupe.
2. I’ve had a few soft tops and they ended up being stored in the winter months
3. Fast forward to the present and I live in the US southwest and absolutely love driving my 993 cabriolet.
I still have a 2 door coupe (not a Porsche) but I drive it only when going to the shops.
I love driving through the mountain roads with the sun shining in and taking in all the sounds.
Just another view on things.
Keep up the entertaining videos mate.
I have the 997.2cabriolet and love it. Yes its noisier with the top up but hardly unbearable. And with the rear windscreen (not built in with my older model, its a retrofit) it reduces the wind and wind noise dramatically and we ride with the top down as low as 45 degrees, usually from April into November in. the northeast.
For people who want a 911 as a sort of primary car year round in colder temperature areas like the northeast then yes, get a coupe. We have a Cayenne for that.
The cabriolet is a wonderful, delightful care year round and since we wouldn't use a 911 for longer trips anyway, its great. Like all things its a matter of choice, but for 5 months a year the top down is a delight.
I agree a cabriolet is a stunning porsche 911 and soaking up the sun and wind is a wonderful experience. ..the coupes cool ye t the drop tops even better.
Nice video Nick. I agree that the red and black leather interior looks great. I have it in my white Carrera.
I know that cabriolets are somewhat controversial for petrolheads but for me automotive heaven is driving down a country road on a warm summers night in a convertible. I also really like the white and red combination on that car.
Just reviewed a 992 Turbo today. I am in love.
Oh, I think it is the most boring 911 ever made
Always bring a smile, when I see a 911 (hardtop or cabriolet) from the Nick!
Nik, nice results from your photo rigs.
Nick, I enjoy learning about Porsches from your videos because they don't distract the viewer with humor. It would be great if you did film them in English, as I'm currently dependent on the auto-generated captioning to translate what you're saying. Cheers from the USA!
exactly !
Perfect ride
Never had a Porsche cabriolet but i did have a TR6 a long time ago. Great for attracting a significant other although she says it had nothing to do with it.
There's not so many days where a cabriolet works in the northeast. Seven months of winter and four months of blazing summer heat and humidity leaves about two weeks on either side where the temperature and humidity are ideal for putting the top down. And it usually rains then.
Good job!
I own a 2003 cabriolet and I love it more than I thought. Being a cab I believe the suspension is a touch softer than the hard top, since they really fall into the “grand touring” (IMO). I also think it’s pretty quiet overall especially with the top up. I drove it from Omaha to New Jersey and never did I think it was too noisy or the ride too harsh. It’s by far the best driving and most comfortable car I’ve ever owned. I also own an A4 and 325IX and while those two ride softer, they don’t offer secure handling and ride of my 911. If I ever trade it in then I’d want a panamera.
I love all your vids…seen them all…very informative and entertaining…cheers
Cool ride ...
Can’t wait for the 992 Speedster with those lovely rear humps 🔥
Had a 991.2 hard top and liked it, but my 992 cabrio is in a direly differently league and TRULY love it. Having a cabrio in FL I thought I’d use it 2-3 months/year due to nasty heat and bugs. Not the case at all. Top down 85% of the time and love that jump on the back!
What type of suspension do you have on the cabrio?
Good to see you back doing reviews!! Hoping you get your hands on a new Gt3 some time soon to get your opinion!
That Fed Ex joke was great. The setup was perfect, I was really expecting a tru pro lol
Btw, love your Vivaldi Four Season Winter opening😆, and your content as always >
The ears of the Gorilla make 5hp alone! Great Video! Even when Nicks voice seemed to be a bit stressed this time.
Nick, question. How does it compare to the 993 when you leave it in a closed garage with the engine running for several hours? I feel you’ve left that out of the video completely.
Good point
They are almost like a retractable hard top because the roof is made of magnesium panels rapped in cloth.
Rapped in Cloth sounds like the title of the autobiography of a gang banger rap singer turned clergy.
@@zTheBigFishz That's only part one. Part two is titled Draped in Velvet. It's where he goes back to his roots.
Correct! The soft top is not really a soft top now, as they are magnesium plates covered in cloth unlike the multilayer soft top in my 997 Cab, although I still feel my top is really well insulated and fine anyway. I love driving with the top down, and would only get a cab, as to me it’s just more fun.
Nick, love it, good video. I think the degree to which one is bothered by the road noise is a direct function of for how long and how consistently one has been driving a convertible. I've been driving convertibles as daily drivers for a long time and so I find the road noise on the 992 Cab more than acceptable. Now, is it a little louder than my previous car, a 2010 BMW (horrors) 335i cabriolet? Well, yes, but that is a sports SEDAN, not a sports car, and it had a hard top (which btw took forever to raise/lower). I also do find that with all the windows and the windstop up the cockpit on the 992 cab is quite quiet and pretty windless.Your point re highway driving is well-taken though: one should def not drive long highway distances with the top down as that is exhausting. On balance though, since I only buy convertibles, the 992 Cab is a complete win for me!! Thanks again for the great video.
Well…
As a fan of classical music, I always find your intros … soothing and nice.
What’s even better is, you calling a cabriolet like a is… and NOT a convertible 😂👍😜
Good job sir 👍
If the car is worth less than $50,000 not than it becomes a convertible - not a cabriolet clearly. Only Porsche that have a fabric roof and are worth an irrational amount of money for a car built out of the same components as Volkswagens is called a cabriolet.
Nice One Nick! 👍
I like FedEx white. Less tickets. Also when I had couple sports cars I found my self driving too fast and racking up tickets. With top down it feels like I’m going fast. Also love sound of engine and exhaust. I’m also in SoCal so it’s easy to have a Can here. Good video !
Thanks Nick, enjoyed that. I have a 991.2 gt3 and thinking about a 992 turbo can to use a bit more for touring with my wife, the gt3 is a bit focused shall we say. Any views
Nick, I’ve sold my Porsche, can I still watch your channel? I bought an F-Type convertible, it’s rather good!
Banned!!! ;)
Be good to know Nick how you think the Cabriolet compares to the Targa in the 992? Having just received my 992 Targa 4 (in lovely blue tint Dolomite Silver!).
Is the wind deflector an option? I bet so!
Great video Nick!!!
Tell us what your plan is regarding owning a 992 911 ?
Could you review/compare the cabriolet v. The Targa, especially for noise with and without the tops down? I’ve heard the Targa buffeting can be terrible and would like to know about that. I had a 914 which was great, but it had no back seat. Great to see you still at it. Been watching you for years.
Is the suspension normal pasm or sport pasm? Great video
I nearly bought a high spec 991.2 4S Cab about 3 weeks ago. It was a spectacular car that I put a deposit on then - squirrel - I changed my mind and ordered a slick roof C2 with A REAR WIPER.
Your doggies are adorable. I prefer coupes but I concede the Cabriolet is fine automotive style. But, even if I could afford one, I'd be hard pressed to get one over Porsche's brilliant 718 Boxster.
I have long considered swapping my E46 cab for a Boxster, but I'm not crazy about the top-up look of the Porsche vs. the Bimmer tbh (and blistering Southern heat will require a lot of top-up drives). I wish that Porsche did as good a job maintaining the lines of the Boxster as they do with the Cabriolet (humps and all!).
I live in snow country, a white car is sometimes not very visible other drivers, which can cause some problems in winter.
Have had five great years with my 991.2 Cabriolet. Wonderful car - good for a bit of a poser!! Trading it for a 718 GTS 4.0. Some may say a backward move to go from a 911 to a 718, but check the reviews, including Nicks!!
How did the NSA share their drone footage with you?
Quick question Nick. I got a budget of 40-50k. What car should I buy? I prefer new to used ones. No restrictions on the number of doors either. Just want a fun sporty car.
FedEx truck 🤣
white 911 convertible with red interior, I Love It!
So Nick what you do see the pros & cons of a Cabriolet vs a Traga ? ? ?
Am I the only one that caught the 992 wheel sizes being staggered with the rolling shutter effect? 997.2 cabriolet owner in Georgia. Wish I could have found a coupe in the spec I was looking for, but I’ve grown to really love top down driving!
Nice wow good
I wonder how fast 911's (997, 991 and 992) can go, when the top is open or how slow is the top speed compare to the coupe cars.
I had one, but had to sell it after just 6 months, because i quickly get a painfull stiff neck after driving it - no cabriolets for me.
Great video Nick. Thanks! What's the name of Mike's business?
Liberty Moving & Storage
Is the season to be jolly
Getting ready to uncover the cab !
Just waiting for the roads to get repaired ! Nothing like blowing out a $500 tire !
Beautiful! I've got the same one here in Barcelona! I've been in Connecticut and at least when I was there, it was cold, extremely cold I'd say, pity you can't enjoy the car as I do next to the beach huh? (Just kidding, have fun) Greetings from Spain!
Did you heel and toe on downshift or does it rev match?
Coupe for me. But i can see the appeal of the cab for many drivers
Porsche dropped the noise insulated light glass option on the 911 coupe for 2021. So you might as well buy a Targa or a Cabriolet.
It never really worked anyway
The Cab suits you and you should seriously think of getting one. The suave look...
The side sticker _with_ the fender guard thing is overdoing it IMO.
The owner also feels the same way
@@NickMurray I'm actually really loving the 'shark fins', but agree with the side stickers
Yeah kinda 👀. Would've only chosen the fender guards
I have the same Bordeaux Red interior in my Agate Grey 991.2 ... but it's a bit over-the-top for my boring Canadian sensibilities. My wife refers to it as Bordello Red.
People think I’m a poser! That sounds like the beginning of a new T shirt slogan! 😂 lovely car 👏
6:15 The taillights look like they are turned on, on the Macan. Is it running in the garage now? LOL
Nice video Nick. Always good. I love white cars.
Hello Nick, thank you for making this nice video, I am debating with myself wether to get the coupe or the convertible. Sadly the points you brought up are the same ones I already thought of ;) So at least I'm not overlooking anything. Go manual Go
See my comments above. ITs purely a personal decision, but we don't have the issues Nick has and with the top down, it takes 20 years off your age.
Don’t forget to check the box for a 10 disc cd changer as well as the manual - I heard Porsche is adding a mew package for old guys that will include a manual transmission, CD changer, chromed wheels and curb feelers and of course a skull 💀 shift knob - it is called the Old Guy package and it provides more “engagement for the driver. The package has a bonus wood ball roller seat protector for the driver as well. Not compatible with the PDK as it is assumed you actually want your car to fast rather than nostalgic.
Wow is this your new thing? M4 to a Porsche.. the only way to move is up!!
Nick -- who operates the drone for those overhead shots while you're driving? They're perfectly done.
The 992 parts were just a GoPro on a long stick from behind. The drone shots of the 993 are auto follow feature that DJI has
@@NickMurray For those of us not in the know, what is a DJI? Sounds wonderful. We want to have that when we're on our boat on LI Sound, would that work or would they go splash like the recently filmed OFOs?
Nick, if you know of any decent 996 Cabs in 6 speed for around $30k, would you let me know? I'm in your area as well.
Do you prefer a targa top?
If the go pro 10 is shit , what did I buy for in car filming ?
G Wgtn,
6:07 looks like a scene from Nolan’s Tenet movie
I fucking knew that the spec was owned by a guy from Long Island! I knew it! And I made that joke on your IG before seeing this video. 😂😂😂😂
3:41 where the heck do you live?? That is so nice
White- best color for repairs that require paint matching. Cooler on hot days when left in a parking lot and always looks clean unlike dark blue for example thst always looks dirty. Also white looks great with decals like on this cab. Manual transmissions are for old guys who also lids their rotary princess phone. Now do a. M
Do a video on the 992 Targa - a great car. For posers like myself!
You got me at "converted to a FedEx" truck
Hey Nick, how about getting a hardtop for your 993?
Or just buy a coupe!
@@NickMurray or buy/lease a Boxster 718 gts 4.0.
Blink 182 Enema of the state on the PCM there Nick. Top choice! What is your age again? :)
I really dig the stone guards on the rear fenders. Pretty rare to see on new models.
Nick , great fan of your channel , I will appreciate a lot if i can have one short advise from you...what to choose between new Boxter GTS 4.0 PDK and new base 992 coupe (i don't like 911 cabrios) , (both optioned wisely, not too many goodies for the 992, just the most important). Must to mention I already have a 981 Cayman S PDK (very well optioned) and looking for second Porsche. The Boxter is quite close to my Cayman, just a bit more power and refinement but open top, so the experience when driving it without the roof will be different. On the other hand I am curious to try the 992 (unfortunatelly still haven't driven one), but it's a turbo car, more comfortable, more refind and will not have the open roof option....i know the 992 will be a bit more expensive but if i don't play too much with the options it won't be night and day ...i know i have a strange dilema :-)
Well both are wonderful driving experiences, I think it more comes down to your personal taste really. Do you see yourself as a Boxster driver or a 911 driver? There are strong cases to be made for both cars.
@@NickMurray Thank you a lot for the reply...probably will go with 992. Just one thing, do you think the full leather interior is must have, I haven't seen 992 without it and don't know does it look cheap, plasticky or it's just fine....also I have the feeling that the leather for seats with standard interior looks a bit more cheap that this with full leather...
The fed ex joke was too good lol
Haterz will say it’s Nick
Z4 E89 with the hardtop is the best of both worlds for me
E89 :)
@@oguzhanline right👍
Has your passenger got enough leg room? I had a very uncomfortable ride in the back of a 997 some years ago
He has short legs.
Nick this is going to be a dumb question but why is the old car a 993 and the new one a 992? Why don’t they number them in ascending order?
Who knows, Porsche internal codes.
#NickNurray... 993 or 992, which one has the higher fun factor for you?
Nick!!! When are you buying 992 Targa4s, that's perfect car for you?!
I love how they look but they are a bit top heavy and can not take roof racks
Really not a fan of the Strips or the wheels or the red interior. Yet somehow the stone guard I really dig lol
