A beautiful car with a manual gearbox , that’s very rare nowadays!

911 - the car that started it all for me. A friendly neighbor of ours had a 996 that he let me sit in, and the rest is history! I really appreciate how carefully Porsche has evolved the 911 over the years. Yes, it’s become more and more of a GT car with each generation, but Porsche has such a clear vision of what the 911 represents and always resists the urge to use it as an opportunity to chase trends such as tech domination. Huge respect for that, and that approach is so conducive to the cult-like passion around this car that other automakers would kill to have. Looking forward to seeing how the 911 continues to evolve these next few years!

Goddamn, I haven’t seen anybody on youtube lately who makes as good of a car review as yours. You are bound to expand quickly, brother. Keep making those reviews coming on manual vehicles. Love your work.

As for the shape, honestly the cabriolet has always been notoriously awkward and difficult to balance in a 911. However the 992 is the most elegant it's been top down. The Targa was a good compromise. Being an open cockpit driver, this is all me. Especially with the manual. The quality of this channel stands out in an ocean of reviewers.

Thank you for your insight, Lawrence. I agree that the Cabriolet has gotten better looking with time - I’d still prefer the coupe myself 😉

27:47 - roofline with top up is fantastic.
to me the 911 is not a practical car, in coupe or cab form, so why not get the cab? drop the top, enjoy the exhaust note and wind. then in winter or family road trips, drive your sedan or SUV or pickup truck. I’d feel like I’m missing out if I got the coupe version. has to be the cab. imo

Great review Miles. Really enjoyed hearing your take on this 992 Cab. I agree with the rear being bulbous and a bit ungainly. However I actually feel the rear end design of all 992 vehicles are not that great looking to begin with as they keep making the.911 longer and wider. The manual fixes a lot in this car and especially the cockpit where it eliminates the VW Golf nub shifter for the pdk version. I would take the manual 992 over a C8 and its dct. 997.2 was peak 911 in my opinion.

Tbh i like the convertible silhouette more than the coupe, I never liked the silhouette of a 911 without a ducktail spoiler like e.g. the 992 turbo.

10:31 isn't that indentation on the handle for that very reason? You should be able to tap it to bring the handles out and unlock the car.

    • @MilesPerHr

I prefer Targa to Convertible, but Coupe to Targa. Targa is great in concept but the clean look of the coupe is even better.

The front vents feed the radiators. I love the cab and the big butt. I don’t like the bare black plastic back by the exhaust tips either. Overall, I think the 991.2 looked better actually.

can't have adaptive cruise control with a manual transmission
can't have a surviving society with a liberal democracy
