One of my best groups ever was with a .338 win mag and 225 TTSX. The .338 caliber is such an efficient caliber no matter what cartridge it is in. Even the big .338's will shoot light out.
Like I said in your other 338 RPM videos, you have a winner there! When you get a chance maybe you could run some over a chronograph with the muzzle brake along with how you're currently set up to see what the difference is. Awesome shooting!
Stay tuned...
Besides the chronograph maybe do some water jugs and/or jell.
Definitely want to see more of this sweet rig!
Me too
Should take it on a sheep hunt
Have a great Saturday y’all! Will be watching all the way from SE Asia
Pretty good shooting there WTW, it’s looking like the new 338 RPM is going to be a good one for you. Thanks again WTW FOR SHARING YOUR VIDEOS. 💪🏽🎥👍👍🙏🏻
Hey Joel!
All I know is… I want a Weatherby after this video! Weatherby I hope y’all are paying this man. Great shooting!
I love this weatherby
Im the same way over his CVA Cascade 22-250! Ive wanted one ever since WTW showed us his
Weatherbys are nice but they are crazy expensive though
@@WHOTEEWHO could you do test on Remington 7mm magnum with Coreloc 150 grain bullets?
It’s interesting that one of the ammo options is a 185 TTSX, similar to heavier copper 30-06 loadings at 180 grains. Certainly going faster, and out of a shorter barrel.
Lots boogie
That single bad group may have been caused by the suppressor loosening a bit? Maybe? You have a great rifle there. Great shooting.
Great upload as usual!! Always look forward to your videos!! Man that rifle shoots holy crap
🙏🙏🙏 appreciate you watching Zach
I have one. Shoots awesome. I'm loading barnes 210gr ttsx. Gotta try it. Bullet weight compromise. Should be awesome.
1.55" is absolutely NOT a bad group from a 6 pound big game rifle. Light rifles are notoriously difficult to shoot well no matter their intrinsic accuracy.
Will see it tomorrow. Gotta get up in a few hrs.
Thanks Robert
👍 Missed the show . This old guy can't drag a deer as fast as I could 20 years ago !
Who tee who, your first group with the 185 grainers had the 1st 2 touching with the last shot being the shot to the left, not the 3rd shot being to the right. Great groups and shooting either way. 🎯🎯
A dream rig. I might have to save up for one of these.
Impressive rifle like the suppressor so much quieter great video once again ...
That's a shooter. I love the videos you make, keep em coming
Thanks for watching Brian. New video every day
That's bloody impressive for factory ammo
Top shooting mate
Cheers
Rob
Thanks for watching Rob
Awesome test! Thanks for sharing! I think weatherby makes some of the best rifles out there. I am biased as I own several...lol
Hey, Hows it going. Always glad to see your videos. They are by far for me, the most watched and I appreciate the work you are doing. I get more valuable shooting character traits from the slingers you show than any other videos I have watched. Love this Weatherby. It will take some doing but I must focus on the Mark V deluxe right now as I am wary they might at some point well stop making them to the degree of craftsmanship they do now or just not have the market for it any more. This caliber just made my list. Question..Is it just the sled or did I see that round does not seem to have much more recoil than a 30-06, is that close or correct? Also HAHA:) yeah I think that 1.55 group was the sled. You have quite the skills when it comes to slinging bullets man :) Question..Is the sled supposed to have that much toggle on the forward rest? I need to get a good one. I can not wait to see more on this caliber and this model, it really is a beauty. It looks really sharp great camo and colors as well. Wishing you all the best, T
Love this 338. One of my favorites. If I remember correctly that was my old sled that was wobbly
The recoil is pretty stout but is tamed pretty well with the brake or can
You've almost got me ready to upgrade from my 06 700. Maybe a new barrel is in order ;)
Just can't quit the old girl.
I like those targets, good performance
Excellent video Hootie Hoo thanks again bud
That rig is awesome and a tac driver.👍🇺🇸
Looks like factory ammo is awesome
Love these videos! Where is the 300 weatherby mag?
Need one
That good for 338, I shoot a 300mag Dead on Its a Roy wet mag I like the 338 in B,A,R
Very sweet set up sir.
Some great shooting thanks for the video 👍
I love it to that 338 rpm is one sweet bullet Salinger dude seriously love the fluted barrow and can on there look so badass dude
I am biased. I have always been a Weatherby cartridge fan. I despise 338 win mag. So this is a fine looking cartridge. No use in Texas though. The cartridge should be declared the new Alaskan cartridge. By by “338 win mag”!!!
Miss the live I was getting ready to go on my ELK hunt today
I have the 30 cal version of that suppressor. Without an insulated cover on the can the second three shot group tends to open up and show more vertical dispersion. Very nice rig!
Wouldn’t been hard to add velocity! Rather than dragging this out…..
Nice when ya find one that will like everything
I wouldn't let that rifle get for love nor money 😊
As wobbly as your rest is I can't believe you get those small groups.
Hey Man, this was a really fun video! Very good data you’ve got there. Now take it out to 200yards, would love to see the performance 🎯💪🏼💪🏼
Good idea
Fantastic groups!! Great shooting. What velocities are you getting out of that 18 inch barrel?
Hmm. Don't remember. Been a while
@@WHOTEEWHO I went back in your videos and found one that gave the answer. Thank you.
Great work!!!!
That rifle is sweet im digging it for sure. Gotta do a gel test or watermelons lol.
What’s the case capacity? Is it more than the 338-06?
You're making me want one of those rifles, gonna have to stop watching these videos because I've got 3 rifle builds that I'm working on now and don't need to spend the money on one right now but I can see myself with one some day in the near future. I've never owned a 33 caliber or a Weatherby rifle but I'm very intrigued with this one.
Great Shooting!
I need an Accumark Apex 338 RPM in my life.
That is such a beautiful rifle
Very impressive shooting! Nice looking catapult! I'd be excited to see some long range stuff with it!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲
Revelation 7:14
I'm washed in the blood of Jesus!!!
@@Rickkari7
That's good to hear!
It sure interesting to me to see how this cartridge likes to be suppressed.
Great video!!!
Nice gun, love the fluted bolt.
When you going to put some of them threw some gell
Might be a challenge catching the bullet, that things a beast.
Sweet
Nice shooting WTW, awesome rig
Slings them well 👍
Have you shot any deer/elk with that rifle yet? I got a Borden action that’s about to be ready, and instead of doing a 30-06 might get get a bartlein barrel chambered in 338rpm. I fig I already got a 308win so why not lol.
Not yet
IMO, people who want a real thumper for the largest North American game should seriously consider a .338 like the RPM (or the Win Mag, .340 Weatherby, etc). Yes, the .30’s will do fine on these critters, especially with super premium bullets. But on average, the .338’s will decrease the amount of tracking you have to do after the shot.
That is a great looking rifle!
Very nice !
Want hunting vedio with this 338 wetherby RPM iam waiting... 😍😍😍
Have you chrono'd the factory loads out of that 18" tube? Curious about the ballistics; aka, at what distance is the impact velocity ~2,000fps.
I have another video shooting it to 1,000 yards
Just my opinion for the nothing it's worth but better groups out of a cold barrel is better and what I'd say folks should want. to explain; how often unless your in a deer/hog drive do you shoot more than 1 or 2 times? Your shots are coming from a cold barrel in hunting situations thus my basis for my opinion
Wow 😮 awesome
Damn fine shootin son, 👍
Good set up for Africa
👍👍
Nice pistola
Well we know the can doesn't affect accuracy. I really wondered about that. That one flyer could have easily been a cartridge issue as well. Either way you are shooting pennies at 100 yards 😁
Hey did you close your eyes bother on the last papper your son and wife would out shoot you on that one lol love your show good man God bless y'all and I would love to come shoot with you.but you don't want to tape it lol 😂
Gotta be pricey ammo to shoot much are they about $4 a shot or more?
Looking at getting a backcountry 2.0 in left hand in either 280 ai or 338 rpm for hunting in British Columbia. Any advice which calibre I should go with?
I love the 338. Don't have any experience with the 280
Awesome shooting with a pretty rifle! Surprised that the point of impact stayed about the same
Any chance you’ll be running this fine rifle out to 200 or 300yds? I’m really interested in this rifle and caliber for bears. Thanks man.
Yup. Plan is to take it to 1,000
The weatherby rpm is weatherby's answer to hornady's prc and I can't wait to try the new eldx muzzleloader bullets from hornady
I had a question wtw.. why do you think this weatherby shoots so well compared to the mark v hunter you had in 6.5 cm??? This thing shoots that other weatherby didn’t shoot nothing like this wonder your thoughts on this???
Between the 2 I'd pick the backcountry 2.0 but I like the mark v hunter too
👍😊 all you need is one ☝️.
That rig is about 3 times more accurate than needed! Go feed your family with it!!!!
Good shooting WTW the TTSX has the best penetration over accubond or Speer hot cor but expansion is not quite as good as the others but it would do the job anyway weatherby makes good stuff I’m old hard to change my ways I like some lead in a bonded bullet lol instead of solid copper but that solid copper will have deeper penetration than accubond
How hard does that kick, being that light?? love the videos please keep them coming brother some real good info
Not too bad. Appreciate you watching
the supressor/muzzle brake that it comes with by default will take away most of it
Those are some mean looking boolots
Get a gold ring on that rifle
That was AWESOME WTW, how does that 338 weatherby compare to 338 win mag?? Are they the same, interchangeable etc..
Ballistics similar. But the 338 rpm is a much lighter rifle
@@WHOTEEWHO would like to see a comparison between the two if possible
Just watching this… I’m hoping the 225gr is the one.
Thanks for watching Jason
I’d be interested in a hot hot barrel test? Like 10 rds back to back to back. Thanks!!!
With groupings like that, I don’t even see a point in loading it. Just buy three or four boxes, and that’ll last you a lifetime of hunting.
dope af!
Still no chronograph data?! Let us see some numbers.
Next video shows chrono
Might be time to tighten up that rest, friend. It's got enough play in it to throw a flier no matter how steady you are trying to be. Weatherby has always made great rifles and ammo and it looks like that's still the case. These new cartridges are not necessarily groundbreaking so much as they are an assembly of the best and most proven ballistic principles learned over the decades. The .338 RPM is the best combination of power and efficiency with reasonable recoil in the whole universe of .338 caliber cartridges. Personally I don't see the need in anything less than 225 grains in a medium bore. After all, if you feel comfortable using a 185 grain bullet then you'd be just as well off to use a .30-06 or really anything from 6.5 up through the .300 magnums. But I guess it gives the deer hunter (most of those who hunt big game) a lighter weight option for that.
Did you chronograph it with that short barrel? I am sure it has plenty of giddyup, but its ammo was probably tested with a 26 inch barrel. The good thing about a shorter barrel is it lets you get out the blind window much easier, especially with the can. I would hate to touch that off inside a blind with the brake.🤯🤕
Yes I did
@@WHOTEEWHO I must have missed that one. What did they clock?
@@williamgaines9784 that video is not out yet. Stay tuned
@@WHOTEEWHO ✔📺🤨
Weatherby shows the velocities from their two length of barrels for their factory ammo.
24 inch is 2800 with the 225 barnes 18 inch is 2615
24 inch is 3100 with the 185 barnes 18 inch is 2860
I think it’s nerves and not hot barrel. Get some gum chew and stop, shoot. Lot of Music stars use it. Still good shootin!
WTW can you get us about $1000-$1500 off that rifle. 🤠
I wish!
Please get Chrono numbers!?!?!?
I did. Last night's video
Does Weatherby still do the long jump to the rifling ?
Back in the old days that was primarily to get more velocity out of their proprietary magnum calibers.
Try shooting that 18 inch bbl at low light or with fall leaves in front of it . Its impossible to burn magnum loads of powder in 18 inches unless they have magic gunpowder.
I'm a poor man, 51 years old ,two Strokes . Just now getting back in the hunting. It will take me 10 years amire this rifle..338 horse shit... I'm going to keep watching your show but damn. $5000 rifle.
I will stay with my 338/06
I shoot them out of my 270 n my 7mm-08
Would love to see a versus video with the rpm and the lapua!
👍👍 not really in the same ball park but I'll do it
@@WHOTEEWHO look forward to seeing it. Great contest as always!
On a different subject, I know you occasionally do vids as part of a “info tainment” / educational series. Would be a cool one to do about the history of the 30-06 and how it brought forth the .270 and 25-06.
As always, appreciate you WTW.
This seems like its not practical. Why would you use an 18" barrel with a magnum. Seems like a hell of a bunch of recoil when not getting the velocities for that cartridge. Id like to see velocities out of that rifle. Its probably only shooting comparable speed and energies of a smaller cheaper to shoot cartridge.
Prob kicks like a mule , lighter it is harder it kicks !
