My father loved Herb Albert and I can still remember the Christmas my mother gave him this album. I always liked it because it was abit different from the usual albums of the time. My favourite song has always been the bell that couldn't jingle. Sadly they have both passed on many years ago but the album and the great memories live on of those wonderful times we had at Christmas.
THIS SONG IS PART OF MY ALL-TIME CHRISTMAS ALBUM, FROM MY CHILHOOD THIS BRING BACK LOVING MEMORIES. MY PERFECT CHRISTMAS EVER, MY LOVING WIFE LOVE THIS SONG, SHE PASS AWAY FIVE YEARS AGO, BUT I STILL REMEMBER HER ASKING ME TO PLAY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN THIS BEAUTIFULL AND CUTE SONG. SINCE SHE WENT TO HEAVENS, EVERY CHRISTMAS I PLAY FOR HER THIS SONG. THANKS, AGAIN MR. ALPERT, YOU ARE THE SPY OF MY SOUL, THANKS FOR THE LOVING MUSIC.
I can’t believe how long it’s been 50+ years ago and I remember the girl I was with. Young love has a tendency to fade away. Thanks Herb for the holiday memory!
Thank you for the great music that I enjoyed since 1965. I still have the many recordings you and the brass blessed us with. You deserved all the accolades you have . I’m looking forward to your new LP ? CD . It’s great you keep making a come back! You have one of the most historic record company with all the groups you’ve introduced to us. Thank you for the great memories. Viva the TJB !!!!!
Hey Herb, just wanted to take a minute and tell you what a huge fan I have been for a long time! Trumpet is my favorite musical instrument. You are simply the best. I also consider Second Wind a masterpiece album!!
It took me a few minutes to figure this out I thought the guy doing the bells was way off at the end it makes perfect sense I think it means the bell that was having issues was finally getting back up to par, especially when Herb says at the end that was terrific👍🏼
I was 17 when this song was released and it wasn't until years later I discovered Burt Bacharach had written it. He passed away on Wednesday at the age of 94. I still cannot believe he is gone. I grew up listening to his songs, beginning with "Tower of Strength" by Gene McDaniels, right through "Anyone Who Had a Heart" by Dionne Warwick to "The Look of Love" by Dusty Springfield, this song, to "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" by BJ Thomas to "The Theme From Arthur" by Christopher Cross and "That's What Friends are For" by Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder. I suppose if there is a silver lining to his passing, he is finally reunited with his daughter Nikki, who suffered from Asperger's Syndrome and took her own life in 2007 at the age of 40. He wrote the songbook to my and future generations and his loss is immeasurable. RIP, Burt. You earned it.
What a beautiful tribute you have written to the brilliant composer, Burt Bacharach. I can identify with everything you've said, since I was around the same age as you, when this song from Herb Alpert's beautiful Christmas album was released. It was and always will remain one of most favorite Christmas albums. Herb Alpert is now in his early 90s, God bless him. We were so lucky to have Burt Bacharach with us for all those years, giving us so much joy (along with Hal David), through his magnificent work..
@@barbaralangan9200 Yes, we were. I was fortunate enough to receive a response from him after I sent him a letter back during the early 70's. It was not a form letter, but typed and signed by him, thanking me for my letter. He was so kind and humble. Not long after that my family and I moved across town and the letter was lost in the process. I was devastated, which made his death personal for me.
Love this video with the lyrics. But I have always thought the bell was a JINGLE bell (think Polar Express) not a regular bell as in the video. After all, if Jack Frost froze a teardrop, it would make a jingle bell ring (from inside) but it would fall right out of a regular bell, wouldn’t it? As I said, love the vid and the tune, but you got the bell wrong…
