    Mack Taunton is one of the 4 or 5 greatest pure singers in southern gospel music history. So underrated and underappreciated. The ending right there is better than anybody else ever did it

      @@knowmusicman157 Fist bump! Rozelle, especially in his younger days was awesome. Definitely in the top 10 all time tenors. I put SG tenors into two styles: classic and modern. Top 5 classic style tenors: Johnny Parrack, Mack Taunton, Rosie Rozelle, Denver Crumpler, Dallas Rogers (recently with Dixie Echoes and Inspirations). Modern: Terry Franklin, Danny Fundeburke, Chris Allman, Wes Hampton, Chris Collins (Kingsmen in early 90s)

      @@blakeedmondson9573 Parrack was to young to be classic. You have to pick the tenors from the early groups. Statesmen. Stamps. Rebels. Oak Ridge, Blackwoods, Florida Boys, etc. Go to Dean Adkins channel.

    Oh I thank the dear Lord for CZcams where I can still hear George sing in his baritone and Glen sing again. I had the unique pleasure of hearing them in person many times before the Lord called them to sing in the heavenly choir

    George hits a low B in this one at 3:47. I guess that's B1, the one that's in the space below two ledger lines below the bass clef. I heard him hit Bb1 multiple times in this concert.

      He does live in Edmond though. Our church is just east and north of Guthrie. I drive from Norman every Sunday for services. Wonderful place it is! Come see us, some Sunday, we start at 10 and then we have lunch afterwards.

      HeartH'S-Tones what about JD? He was the lowest but I do agree with you on that, they are at the top of the list of the best bass singers that sang gospel music.

      well, that's debatable, and other things. If you want to hear a real bass singer, YT search A FEW GOOD MEN MUSIC MINISTRY SOUTH AFRICA...I could listen to them all day, favorite is I could Sing About Heaven... also search THE BRETHREN QUARTET (Zambia) let me know what you think.

      HeartH'S-Tones Well I found a new group to love and I love the tone of the bass singer, so rich and so smooth. I was kind of hoping to hear some low notes but he did hit some fairly low notes. I love that group but I think I like the old gospel quartets like JD Sumner and the stamps and the cathedrals plus that statesmen with Big Chief better. I do like that quartet though!

    I heard all 4 bass singers George Younce, JD Sumner, Ken Turner, and Tim Wiley. I think The Cathedral sing this better of the group but Ken Turner get lower then all of them. But the Cathedral sing this song better then any group I have heard.

      Kyle - certainly. BUT, Ken's vocal fry mix sounds better than JD Sumner's pure bass. To me, the thing that counts is which singer hits the lowest note while sounding good and stable.

    Wow, George has a really cool voice-style. Resonant and strong. But I wish somebody would post this song from JD Sumner. I´ve searched for it everywhere, but i`ve never found the whole song. JD goes much lower, I think down to C#1. I would like to here that.

      DonSchanteloni the way I have it is by Apple Music but I think you can just search up Masters V Rainbow of love and it will show the one that has the C#1 in it

      Ken Turner sounds a lot better because he sings from the chest making it more smooth and pleasant sounding. While JD Sumner is almost pure bass, i personaly think JD hit the lower note and sounded better

      I know the difference very well, and I will shit all over the elitists who will place means before results in music. The point is the end result - if it sounds better, it IS better. True bass or vocal fry mix - whichever sounds better is the one I like better. JD sumner may be a better bass singer range-wise, but Ken Turner makes the rainbow of love sound better.

      Señor Pevan than who? Deeper than JD Sumner???? Just for educational purposes , JD’s lowest note was a G0 whilst Ken’s lowest note is only a C1 but both are vocal fry so I guess you can compare who is a better bass singer based on tone and smoothness on going to the low notes but I’d personally prefer JD Sumner over anyone and George Younce then Big Chief Wetherington as well as Bill Gaither who doesn’t go very low because he is shy but listen to Low down the chariot and he goes pretty low for him on that song or at least from what I’ve heard.
