      People often act irrationally in stressful situations, oftentimes not realizing the danger they are in. For you and me we're clicking on this video knowing what's going to happen, but for them they're just on a boat trip and thinking about what they're going to have for dinner tonight. It doesn't help that nobody else is recognizing the danger either. Having unfortunately been in a similar life-threatening situation myself during vacation, I know some people will even get angry if you try to warn them and others will flat out refuse to act.

      It sounds like a really short time, and of course they have to be dramatic for the show, but 20 minutes is a fairly long time for someone who isn't athletic and is panicking to be actively exerting themselves in rough seas. I've done caving before, nothing nearly on this cave's level, but I can tell you it's an experience like no other. These rescues are, thankfully, very rare, you're more likely to get hurt hiking, but they're very dangerous because you're in tight spaces. People have been shoving themselves into holes in the ground since we knew holes in the ground existed, I don't think it will ever stop. Luckily, more and more research, skills, and experience are making these incidents less frequent and more survivable with time, even if the progress is slow.

    Those men in the cave were the best kind of men on the planet. I have no idea how a person can purposely put himself in a situation that will call for other men to come help him if things go south. It's amazing how others will step forward to help, which I can't write the human race off. Though Im sure tempted too at times. As far as the rescuers saying, they're not heroes, thats false modesty, because they are.

    The cave rescue was unbelievable. These people who choose to participate in extreme sports only think of themselves. If a rescue team has to be called out, a charge should be enforced. Extreme rescues like this put the rescuers, many of whom are volunteers, lives at risk.

      The moment I saw that they are going to put explosives inside that cave I was like that is insane. A little miscalculation and this whole rescue could fall apart. Hats off to these rescuers. And yes I do agree people who participate in extreme sports should think about lives of people that they could be risking. I mean it's understandable when rescuers have to do rescue when people get stuck in a cave by accident like the children who got stuck in those Thailand caves. But extreme sports rescues are totally avoidable.

    • @TomDufall
      @TomDufall Před rokem

      Cave rescue teams are made up of... cavers. Sports like that are dangerous which is why people look out for each other and do whatever they can to help out when things go wrong. Yes, it would be great to cut down on avoidable callouts, but no group can realistically be prepared to deal with a spinal injury underground.

    The first story they should of checked to see if the guy passed. They were more interest in themselves instead of others. How pathetic those people were, the mom it is hard to loose but fortunately her son lived. The second the biker on a narrow ledge, now he knows what is important and that anything can happen if not careful. The third story Arun put those rescuers at risk and he seems not really caring. He is fortunate he is walking. The next time he will not be so lucky, but the Slovenian rescuers did an awesome job and they did not give up. Kudos to the those rescuers for doing such a good job in such tight situation.

    The narration is over the top like always. 15 minutes in a tropical ocean is not the worst place to be. I have been rescued in a helicopter off a mountain. It was not dramatic. It was calm and I was not crying in fear. Over dramatising a situation like this puts unnecessary fear in people. Panic is often more dangerous than the situaton.

      15 minutes in a tropical ocean is not the worst place to be? First, they were in there much longer than 15 minutes! Do you know what's in that water? There were a lot of elderly people in that group. A tropical ocean isn't safe just because the water is warmer than other places and you can still die. The evidence of that is the number of people who did die! You're right that panic is dangerous, but don't discount their experience because it wasn't yours.

      Many of the people on the boat appear elderly. Being rescued off a mountain is no where near what these people went through being tossed in the ocean, and for a lot longer than 15 minutes. The fact that you had to be rescued off a mountain, what does that say about your judgement? Your lack of empathy and self-righteousness is appalling. The only person I saw panicking in the water was the mother who couldn't find her child, which is understandable the rest were incredibly calm in my opinion.

    Why didn't the first rescue boat just ferry the initial rescued passengers to the nearby waiting freighter, dropped them off and then return to rescue more people that were in the water and repeat the process?
    It is always sad when there's loss of life in any situation.
    Did the sinking boat radioed any distress and exact location, call?
    And what about: women, children, elderly and physically challenged people... first?
    Seems like some able bodied men got on the first rescue boat before the aforementioned.
