Forts is a physics-based RTS where foes design and build custom bases, arm them to the teeth and blast their opponent's creations to rubble.
Build an armoured fort in real-time and arm it to the teeth. Collect resources, develop your tech-tree, unlock advanced weapons to target your opponent's weak points, and feel the satisfaction as their fort comes crashing down.

We expected to lose 3-0 which is why we went for meme strategies and spammed the starting gunner in matches 1 and 2, but it turned out to work really well.
Also for the people who don't really know what the FPL is:
FPL (Forts Pro League) is a league hosted by Reloflex. The seasons start with 4 qualifiers, if you win one you're in. If you have more points than other teams, you're in. 42 and I got second in the first qualifier and accumulated 100 points, which was already enough to qualify for the actual tournament part. The top 8 teams from the qualifiers then fought each other twice in a round robin system, over the duration of additional 4 or 5 Saturdays. The top 4 teams with the most wins then competed in the finals in a single elimination tournament, that you are watching right now.
42 and I finished the round robin part of season 1 with a score of 10-4. Lost to Matteo and Bob twice, beat and lost to EtaN and Geiger once, beat and lost to Felix and Lancen once.
The finals were absolutely amazing, you should stay tuned for the next videos!

idk maybe its hanged when i wasn't watching but the fire beam has less resources to fire so its easier to use 2 beam x 1 fire beam would be much harder to shoot at once

What, is this a big tournament hosted by some well known company or something?
It's kinda big. It's reached the point where it's got a core of considyering, S-Tier players who are playing in a tournament supported by the game company and have pro casters who've been with the game for years

Why didn't they put up an energy shield in front of their core after the first shot ?
@@FranckOA42 expensive to build, expensive to run, little warning that it was coming each time. It's easy to see in hindsight but just seeing a firebeam doesn't necessarily mean they were going to combine it with a plasma
@@rainbowchutney yea but it so dumb imo to leave core that exposed when you don't 100% know untill both parties has fires at least two weapons each you should keep ur core boxed in otherwise you get one shot. Rather deal with a repair bill than straight up dead.
Matteo and bobereto did so well this game. Pulled off an extremely sneaky play by looking like it was nukes, baiting out anti air, then lasers to the face. Next match, laser's again, 20s for that damage and anti shield, and whilst it was close to start, just ran away with it the second they got off a solid shot.

what an incredible improvement in watchability and enjoyment for us viewers! you two mesh really well as commentators and having only 2 people commenting instead of 4 is way less distracting.

The improvement in casting over the years has been staggering. The observer tools, the limiting of the core death flash in the replays, the insight into the meta and synergy you two have, it’s incredible. Fantastic job to everyone involved

Why do your videos not get more views? You litterally have the best vibes, great game play, and your playing a game thats straight forward and fun. Just know I look forward to every new video you make and treat it like a cinematic blockbuster where I make sure to have 30 min+ to sit and watch with no distractions.

Forts/Starcraft are both fairly small dedicated fanbase type games.
It's only been out a few hours at the time of me typing this, and sometimes the CZcams gods throw a dart into a hurricane and whatever video it lands on will never ever get recommended to anyone for literally no reason.
This is exactly why I love the lasers over everything else, if used right they’re practically unstoppable
To the people responding: Yes, I am well aware that energy shields exist, thanks for asking (but y’all are right that is the biggest problem with them)
ehhh if they went with 1 shield they could have lasted longer, i know it costs power but could have saved there asses and not in one shot with the use of that laser/firebeam combo once
Unless, you know, they get reflected back at you or a teammate by an energy shield, in which case they will just kinda feck you over.

Matteo will just dodge the shields after the first shot, probably aim for the foundation or eco instead.
many of those laser shots are insta kill, after the fire, if it penetrate the wood and don't go back, the plasma kill it, since fire make the wood have half hp and plasma can destroy it easily
strange they not used the fire + smoke, it will be hard to controll
The trade off is the shield,
INSANE damage, but can be countered very easily with a shield, which in turn costs energy.
This series was so entertaining! You and your co-caster had such good synergy and really elevated the experience. The camera tracking was also spot on and well done.
The only thing that I would ask for would be that you explain the commander abilities, this is helpful to someone like me who does not actually play forts but does enjoy your content very much.

You can clearly see when Matteo and Bob both just went "Aight... enough screwing around, time to go for the laser rush, let's end this 'tournament'."
Unbelievably precise play from everyone, but Matteo especially. Everything he fired as exactly on-point and deadly.
42 and Cronk had such insane strokes of luck _time and time again_ in that first game. Not that they didn't play great, though.

That was impressive, it wasn't that 42 Scientist didn't have enough economy to repair their wood spam, they were saving up for the strike!
Those last couple of laser games were BRUTAL by Mateo. Absolute perfect aim every time. I was really worried the first few games whether or not Bobareto and Mateo could pull it off, but once the lasers got brought out it was all over.
You call it French Wood Spam, they call it Ligne Maginot. Why? They use the metric system.

Matteo absolutely terrifies me. No tricks, no new meta, just the plasma/firebeam combo almost as old as the game itself. But in his hands: if your build isn't specifically designed to counter, you lose. If you don't play by his terms, you lose. If you get greedy, you lose. Horrifying to play against.
If you know Matteo is going for lasers, it will be easier to counter but that pinpoint accuracy is deadly.
It was real hard to connect your firebeam and laser beam on the same exact spot.

42 Scientist laser+ fire combo isnt the most accurate thing, and it was pure out of Bob get slam like hell they managed to snipe Bob's core.
But Matteo laser sniping is something else. He just straight up pinpoint enemy base weakspot and pulverize their core with 1 shot.
@@nogisonoko5409 Yeah that's why the edit long before I ever got any replies, because I posted that as I was watching the video and thought they meant 42 Scientist's shot in the first half of the video, which just chewed through Bob's weakened defenses. And then Matteo showed them how it was done.
I could feel the laser salt in the last 2 games. That revenge.

For the record, Cronk and I trolled for all of our games that day. All our strats were unrefined, winged strategies we tried just to have a good showtime, and turns out it even won us a couple games.
I can confidently say this event was the most enjoyable fort event (maybe tied with the pro 4v4s I organized) I have ever got myself in, thanks to everyone who helped and casted the event !
We saw you and Cronk were cheating greatly!
You were observed secretly giving woodspam tips to the judges and doing bribes with baguettes!
We also observed Cronk entering the infinite money cheat too :D
The fire-beam plasma-beam combo is insane.
Nobody will probably see this but, I feel like you're the technoblade of forts, deep and calming voice, professional yet entertaining, occasional dark jokes and some other stuff

shields are more expensive than metal and use up almost an entire turbine's worth of energy each. if the entire base was shieled then the laser player is still winning even if they never fire simply from the forced expense they make their opponent endure.
Oof. Bobereto needs to remind themselves that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer - it cost them the first game.
EDIT: It does appear that they learned from it in later games. Also, Matteo's laser stuff came in clutch.
These games are so exciting. You just don't know if the losing team gets a come back or not.

I'm not going to say I'm a good Forts player and I get that energy shields are expensive, but you'd think after seeing the same tactic used on you twice, you should atleast have a bit of insurance. Even if it saves you just once, that's atleast time to turn the game around.

All you need to win is go fire beam and plasma beam and just survive the first strike.
And also have the aim to actually hit the same, vulnerable spot, which you need your opponent to defend poorly.
@@Shuizid Even without poor defense, the combination chews through defenses as we saw with 42 Scientist and Matteo chunking through defenses that blocked everything else.
@@KainYusanagi Didn't really block anything - just woodspam to be sacrificed. That's not only cheap, they didn't even spam that much of it.
There is still metal and energy shields and portals offering higher levels of defense.
@@Shuizid At least three layers of woodspam and a layer of metal, which will even stop a double nuke. Two, in one case, though they had been damaged by a nuke blast. Energy shields and portals certainly do shut it down much more effectively, but that doesn't stop it from being especially penetrating compared to other combinations.
