Para mí este performance fue como un funeral para la canción. Aunque la cantaron en el último live acústico.
@@Nori7Namikaze I feel like some bands or solo artists will do different arraignments for one song, to keep things new or different for the audience. But the lyrics themselves seem quite similar to wedding vows.

“Wherever You Are” is a fan favorite and probably one of their most famous songs. The lives vary too which is always fun!
Make sure you also listen to the original version of this song so you can appreciate this arrangement even more. 😍 As others have already mentioned, Taka wrote this song for a friend who was getting married, and this has been the most used song at weddings in Japan for the past like 3 or 4 years.
You briefly mentioned Green Day near the end and the producer of American Idiot is actually working with ONE OK ROCK on their upcoming album. So excited for it.

I love this song a lot. In the concert I went to, the acoustic version was the one they sang and during the “kokoro kara” verse Taka would let the crowd sing and he looked so in awe since the crowd doesn’t even speak Japanese yet they were able to sing along to the song perfectly.
Fun fact: Japanese concerts will never allow you to take out your phones or camera. You're not allowed to record, and since they are very disciplined people, they will definitely follow the rules.
What happens if you break the rule?
One time, there's a non-Japanese fan of a Kpop group (who was performing in Japan) who kept filming the group's performance (even though board signs are everywhere and before you come in they will inform you not to do it), they were thrown outside the venue. Whatever you say, you can't get back anymore.
Thankyou for reacting to One Ok Rock again Waleska and Efra and for choosing this specific concert performance of OOR. Personally speaking, this perf. is my most favorite perf. of Wherever you are. The emotion, the arrangement, the atmospher is a top notch that you can't help yourself to be emotional.
Also, in this concert, AMBITIONS Japan Dome Tour 2017, they had a rendition of their song called TAKE WHAT YOU WANT that is really really great and emotionally wrecking. I hope you could react to it too. Or if you are interested to other OOR's great rock ballad song with Taka's emotionally wrecking vocals, I like to recommend GOOD GOODBYE, ET CETERA and PIERCE.

I've been in a concert in Japan at Tokyo Dome and, as other people mentioned, cell phones and cameras are strictly prohibited. There are several staff around the whole stadium, including going around the floor up and down all the sections only checking for phones. If you use your phone you are kicked out right away. I personally prefer this way than with several cameras blocking the view
And I love Wherever You Are so much. It's absolutely beautiful and this version is a masterpiece. They are even better live and Taka's vocals is just out of this world. So much talent

The name "One OK Rock" came from the fact that they were amateurs with no money and would meet at 1 a.m. every time they wanted to rent a studio to practice, when the hours were cheaper.
These was the first One Ok Rock's song i've listen to it , 5 years ago . And that's why i kept requesting it because it's a masterpiece . It's the song that made me a fan of the band

i found out a couple of months ago about One ok rock, and i cant believe how talented they are. The vocalist is really amazing, i saw a lot of live concerts and they gave their all in every performance, thats hard to find. I just loved them
they are still very active.
they even still have a lot of country schedules to visit for world tours concert.
but it was postponed since last year due to the pandemic.

This version of "Wherever you are" is from Yokohama Arena during their Ambitions Japan Tour 2017. They played it during their acoustic set which is usually in the middle of the setlist

i recommend listening to their song nobody's home. Taka wrote it for his parents ( who he had problems with ) and its a very personal and emotional song for him.

Please, chack out "good goodbye" if you guys want a slow song with a really good vocal . Or "skyfall", but this one is really a havier song with screams and so on. That one (skyfall), was a collaboration with the bands SiM, crossfaith and coldrain. All of them are the rock japanese dream team.
When I watched this version I was surprised as well, I mean we get used to seeing beautiful lights every time OOR is performing Wherever you are but this one is an exception. Kind of mindblowing like were the audiences told not to turn on their phones flashlights or they did it on their own
And yeah this version hits different. I was blown away. They are so amazing
In other live versions of this song, Taka did a high note and then falsetto during the instrumental part after the bridge that made us all lose our pants XD I was in one of their live concerts and in my mind, I was like, Oh myyyyyyy goooooooooddddd

And yeah, about the people not recording or not making noise during their performances like this, yeah, that's why I love Japanese audience. they know how to respect the artists, especially if it's ballad songs like this. They're in the moment, just basking in the beauty of the art of music.
In other countries (like mine), expect people to scream during the quiet parts of the ballad, or sing (scream) along but out of tune. It's like they would feel awkward if they kept silent during the "quiet parts" of the song. It was so embarrassing whenever that happens (and so frustrating coz I paid to listen to the artists perform/sing and appreciate their art, not hear the audience scream and overwhelm the artists themselves) XD

Thank you for reacting to this song and to One Ok Rock❤️ I was given the opportunity to attend one of the Ambitions concert in Japan, and yes, it's a rule not to use phones throughout the concert. But I would say, it's mainly because the Japanese audience knows how to follow the rules and appreciate the performance, be in the moment. They can get crazy, they can get silent. That's based on my observation. And I salute them, such an experience.

You should listen to "Take what you want", Ambitions Japan Tour (same tour as this one, not the Ambitions Japan Dome Tour). The performance is so emotional! But it's not easy to find a video of it.
And you should watch Tomoya's Drum Version of Taking Off. The camera is focused on the drums the whole time.
same request .Lol. Take what you want in this specific concert was the highlight alongside Wherever you are. These two performances in that concert was my most favorite rendition of the two songs.
