Let's be honest. This album was at least a decade ahead of its time and more and more people are starting to realize what we already knew.
The sound this album has is beyond words
Hell Yea
Fucking overrated band
What a song at time with linkin park! thank you for everything guys! mostly you chester! :-') my best hero!
The album would have been fine without the 6 weird noise / filler tracks all throughout it. 😮💨 15 Tracks and only 9 actual songs.
May chester find the peace he never knew on earth.

Lyrics...
I used the dead wood to make the fire rise
The blood of innocence burning in the skies
I filled my cup with the rising of the sea
And poured it out in an ocean of debris
Oh, I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve
We held our breathe when the clouds began to form
But you were lost in the beating of the storm
And in the end, we were made to be apart
In separate chambers of the human heart
Oh, I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
It's in the blackened bones
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve
I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
The blame is mine alone
For bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve
What I don't deserve, oh-whoa
What I don't deserve

When i listened to this song after he died, the part where he says, "don't apologise, I'm losing what i don't deserve" really hit me hard. RIP Chester Bennington.

It almost sounds like a Coldplay type melody
phillyfan182 its really atmospheric and melancholic but really melodious but everyone just joined the bandwagon of hate and shit on this album, so no one really appreciated the song. If it were on a coldplay album, then it would be heaped with praise and it would be topping charts I guess

No you didn't get the meaning of the song
I'll be honest, I never comment on CZcams videos simply because of how quickly people either take it way too personally and get butt hurt or start to rag on the person who posted the comment in the first place. However, as I was reading through the comments of this video, I found one that was posted 8 months ago that made me think about what we consider "good music."
Back in 2011-2012, Linkin Park released this album with no regard for it being radio friendly. After its release, they were criticized not just by the media, but by their fans as well. They criticized Linkin Park for "selling out" and for doing something different from what everyone is used to them doing. They (LP) did something that everyone, at the time, was couldn't do. They created a story using strong lyrics and tones with each song building up to the next one, each with a new part of the tale to tell.
Me personally, I've been a fan of LP ever since my cousin showed me the video for Bleed It Out somewhere in 07-08 (mind you, I was probably 9 or 10 at the time). I remember listening to this album when it came out and all the backlash that came with it. At the time, I didn't understand the lyrics, all I knew was that they meant something to me. A couple months ago, I bought the album again on my phone and actually listened to the lyrics, from start to end. No breaks, no pauses. Just one song after the other. Afterwards, I actually took the time to look up the speeches they use in some of the songs. I listened to the tale of the escalation of war with each song sharing the next part of the story, slowly coming to the climax that is the detonation of the atomic bomb in "The Catalyst" (I also realized that LP used this album as an answer to the criticism). Mind you, I didn't realize this stuff until after I read that comment.
After that album, Linkin Park has deviated from what the media and society deem "appropriate music" and redefined themselves. Every album receives a fair amount of criticism, such as their recent album "One More Light." The thing most people don't think about music in general is why. Why do artists (music) create albums with strong themes that are deemed inappropriate? The answer is simple. So they can be different from the herd. And the obvious one: to express themselves. That's why they made this album. To not only redefine LP, but to separate from mainstream media.
To those of you who took the time to read this, I commemorate you. At the time of me typing this it is Sunday, September 24, 2017. Feel free to leave your thoughts below, or don't. It's up to you really. I just wanted to share my thoughts given all the negative comments I've read.
I think that a true fan understand that an artist changes through life, and that he (the artist) is not there to try and please anyone, he does what he does to express himself and hope someone can relate. who ever criticize this album or "minutes to midnight" or "one more light", just dosen't get it, and I dont think he can call himself a true fan.
because damn, everything they do is so emotional and raw, how a true fan can criticize their feelings when they expressed in such amazing work?!
I can relate, I started back in early high school at that time too. Found their first album that my older brother left behind when he first moved from home. The first two albums really helped me get through 8th grade to sophomore year, especially when going to new cities for the first time, like Denver and Chicago. But this one, I was a bit different, I already had some insight to the Manhattan Project due to my History buff Dad and History classes. In fact, months before this, we as a class trip, went to New Mexico and saw the replicas of Nukes that were used in WWII. Wish this came out then, would have been the best music for our class project as well.
With Fallout being a smash back then as well, that just fueled this catalyst. Ever played New Vegas with this playing? Perfection.
Anyways, LP has always been there for me. Though, I will be honest and say that after their 5th album, seemed to fray out into something that I wasn't and still not quite ready for. But by far, this one. Has always been the best to me. Love me a good Concept Album.
Τhank you for commenting that, you are a true fan my brother. Its sad how everyone criticizes artists for everything they do. At least now everyone sees how good and passionate were these guys (LP). I Never felt more associated with someone's music as I do with LP. Thank you❤
Nice work
wow, I never notice what you said. thank you for open my eyes.

That's funny to see that when the song was released, the comments were full of insult and hate against Linkin Park (old vs new and all those messy shits). But now, more than 6 years later, every one is like "omg this is a true piece of art". And even tho I completely agree, it makes me laught

This album was so underrated, and yet it's the best one they have in my opinion. Every linkin park song rocks!! and this album is so underrated
when it came out, it was heavily compared to their previous albums as it sounded so different. many people didn't like the change.
I'll admit even I hated it but now it's my favourite, and let me tell you I barely see a LP fan who hates it nowadays
Let them be mad and angry because maybe it would come to their heads to know that Linkin park wants to change a little I understand that because they don't want to keep on doing the same thing all time and besides they are the one who making the music, not the people. People need to get over their little opinion and judging.

@@bhavishyasharma7834 maybe about the lost ones
@@bhavishyasharma7834 The meaning of the song is about destroyed relationships and fallouts. Some of the lyrics are "I'm swimming in the smoke, in bridges I have burned, so don't apologize I'm losing what I don't deserve". Burning bridges means to destroy or end a relationship with a friend, family member or significant other. The title, Burning in the Skies, refers to burning so many bridges to the point it got out of hand and spread like wildfire. The song is about a person having a lot of remorse for ending relationships and they blame themselves because they think it's their fault.

R.I.P Chester Bennington (1976-2017) 😢 💔
we lost him :'(
We Lost a incredible voice
An incredible human being..
We lost what we didn't deserve as he says, the world was too harsh for him. We never deserved someone as great as Chester.
He is a legend 😢😢 😔😔
This is in my opinion their best and deepest song. I feel like it adresses what you feel after letting everybody, or at least someone you care about down in a complete opposite way of "What I've Done". Instead of self-forgiveness we see self-disappointment. Right off the bat you hear "I use the dead wood to make a fire rise", after loosing it all you're trying to make something shine out of all that darkness.
But what strikes me the most is the chorus: "I'm swimming in the smoke, of bridges I have burned", after destroying your own opportunities you find yourself trying to find yourself in the middle of nowhere, "So don't apologize, I'm loosing what I don't deserve", possibly mentioning the faith someone had in the poetic subject, or maybe himself.
And to make my point even stronger: "The blame is mine alone, for bridges I have burned", he's "realising" the consequences of his mistakes, all the hearts he has broken, so he's the only one to blame.
Because of this interpretation I relate to this song a whole lot. I know what it feels like to know that your unawareness and bad choices broke the heart of someone you really love.
Almighty Social Democrat Isn’t It about a nuke going off.
@@prometheustv6558 It can have multiple interpretations. It could mean humans destroying the planet, nukes, failed relationships, death, regret after messing up your own life etc. This song is so abstract it's amazing
@@introverteddawg9805 But in the story of the album it's about a Nuke going off.
With the woman in the bathroom filled with insecurity and the man grieving for his wife, I think the main theme here is self-destruction.
I think that when it comes to a art like this song, it could have multiples meaning like self-destruction, relationships failure, losing someone you love, insecurity... and its all connected somehow. So i totally agree with Introverted Dawg.

Hi😊
Until I stop breathing.
I come here to express my sincere gratitude to Chester. He, the guy who was fighting with stress and depression for a long time, sang and wrote songs that helped many of us in the really hard times.
I listen to this song again after 10-11 years passed since I first heard it. I get that back in that time I was just a fan, now I am listening this song, and words can not explain how these songs really relate to me now. Now, I get that Hybrid Theory age songs were written when all of members were really young and it shows how they dealt with life problems in a more distorted sound, open lyrics that show how they bounce back the difficulties in life. However, this album is purely about accepting oneself, being calm in the hard times and observing where the world goes in this temp. You can see how LP changed mentally, how their lyrics matured, how they see the world changed.
I am now listening to this song not as a fan, but a person who really gets the idea, understands how Chester was dealing with life and how it was mirrored in lyrics and style. Hope you are all doing good daily in the life and these songs remind you that you are not alone there.
I've never really understood the message in the lyrics until I grow up and face it myself. The feeling that I keep disappointed everyone that I love. All of Linkin Park's songs always makes me feel related somehow. I always pick one of their songs to be my friend when I feel bad. It's like I have someone who really understand.
Have you heard of Oppenheimer and Manhattan project? I think it's deeply related. One of the Introsongs to this album, The Radiance, has a very dark tone to it because of Oppenheimer's Quote. This is obviously a sequel to that - the lyrics and video show ashes and dust and chaos - aftermath of an atomic bomb.
It’s not because you feel that you disappointed that you really did disappoint them
Dude, this song is about a nuclear war.
@@dexter2392 yeah pretty sure that's mostly what it's about, especially in the context of the whole album. But I also like to see it as a song about humanity destroying and consuming everything in general, ultimately by creating weapons of mass destruction.
So yeah, it also kinda confuses me to see people here writing about things that I could never read in the lyrics of the song xD
But of course that's kinda the beauty of art, isn't it? For every person, a piece of art gives a different message.
@@Fenixias yes you are right at some point.. But LP's lyrics is always about reaching out to ppl who needs some therapy, and people find solace in their songs and their lyrics.. He is not wrong about interpreting the part " Im swimming in the smoke of bridges i have burned so dont apologise im losing what i dont deserve" as some broken relationship that he might caued and feel bad.. Coz "burning bridges" is always used lyrically by other artists to talk about a broken relationship which could never be mended.. And im sure even LP wouldn't disagree to that intertretation.. This ATS is somewhat all about catastrophe but never solely for that purpose.. U can interpret in more than one side.. Putting in a very specific quotation and then twist it in way which could be interpreted in two ways.. Dats why i like Linkin Park hella great songwriting here and in all of their songs..We can see that clearly manifests in the songs of the album especially like iridescent and the messenger!!
Every single song has a different meaning now.
R.I.P Chester!
Mahir Asef well perhaps you must know the meaning some of the lyrics song from the beginning...

Linkin Park predicted the future and Oppenheimer
I'm here after watching Oppenheimer. This is the song I thought of as it ended. We are in a world where it becomes increasingly easier to hurt other people. We are on the path of losing everything. Everything ends in fire and ashes.
"I'm swimming in the smoke,
Of bridges I have burned,
So don't apologise,
I'm losing what I don't deserve"
Very true ! Greetings Portsmouth England 🏴
we lost what we didn't deserve ..... this world didn't deserved you Chester...RIP Chester...😭😭

4 more days and it still seems like we lost him this morning.
Lyrics: I used the dead wood to make the fire rise
The blood of innocence burning in the skies
I filled my cup with the rising of the sea
And poured it out in an ocean of debris
Oh, I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve
We held our breathe when the clouds began to form
But you were lost in the beating of the storm
And in the end, we were made to be apart
In separate chambers of the human heart
Oh, I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
It's in the blackened bones
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve
I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
The blame is mine alone
For bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve
What I don't deserve, oh-whoa
What I don't deserve
I used the dead wood to make the fire rise
The blood of innocence burning in the skies
Thank u so much good man ^^

Oppenhiemer end credits
yeah.
Am i the only one for who "a thousand sun" is the favorite LP's album ? i mean, i love all of them, but this one is special. more sensation than the others. only my opinion :')
gabriel cuccureddu its my favorite album, too :)
gabriel cuccureddu TBH, first time I listened it... I hated it. Perhaps I was expecting something like Hybrid Theory or Meteora. Like 4 years after i decided to give it another chance and... WOW...
Album has not changed... I changed. Perhaps, I was not ready for it.
gabriel cuccureddu no you're not
gabriel cuccureddu To date, it's the *only* album by Linkin Park that I've ever bought. Sure, I've listened to the assorted singles of previous albums, but I never bought an entire one until A Thousand Suns. So I guess by default, that makes it my favorite LP album.
Eduardo Tello I agree, at first i didn't liked these songs, because they weren't diffirent from the rest, more quiet. Now I start loving these songs, like: waiting for the end, iridescent, burning in the skies, burn it down, final masquerade :)
For those of you who don´t know yet
Chester commited suicide earlier today (20 july)
it´s not a joke, we have lost a pionere in dealer with depression who eventually fell victim to it.
he hung himself like Chriss Conell did back in May (20 of july is Conells birthday)
We should remeber Chester for the brilliant artist and amazing vocalist who helped many of us through touch times :(
Rest in Peace Chester. you are remembered
ShacklesIsTheName I was born on 20 July too I guess im freaking next in line to hang myself no jokes lol
ShacklesIsTheName
'Died by Suicide' not 'Committed Suicide', Crimes are committed, Suicide isn't a Crime
ShacklesIsTheName its been a year and it feels like it just happened it still hurts...
The world is a cruel place. Chester tried to move one until he could. I think that i was blessed to hear his songs and deaply we all share the same thoughts. We have to move one to, like Chester did. I'll hope that everyone of you will find the peace like i did.
The Depth of the Song! When you read the lyrics like a hymn.
It's been 4 years already.
Gone but not forgotten.
We miss you Chester.
We always will.
They made songs for everyone
@Maria Shadow 9 ?
@Maria Shadow It's 69
What an accurate comment...
Including people who are older than the atomic bomb...like me. 😀
They made songs for eternity
