  • Also known as lingual frenectomy, being tongue tied affects jaw and bone development. We performed a lingual frenectomy on this patient to restore his mouth's function and mobility. A quick a painless procedure, the lingual frenectomy is a surgical procedure to free up this band of lingual tissue and release the tongue... He was thrilled with the quick and effective results!

Thanks for the gift of this video! So helpful to calm nerves in prep for this same procedure.

Why would you not completely remove it? Seems counter productive. Also, don’t have this done with oral myofunctinal therapy, please! It will just grow back.

I was told i had this when i was in middle school (after years and years of speech therapy until kindergarten - 6th grade) but my parents didnt want me to do it because they were afraid I'd not be able to speak. Based on this whole mewing thing, I think it has something to do with why i have such a weirdly shaped side profile/double chin, since moving my tongue gets rid of it but it is not comfortable to do. My tongue goes out less than this guys :P

PS I had this surgery in July 2022 :D it was super easy (though it sucked the first 3 or 4 days) and my tongue feels so much more freeeee lol

Good for you and your quality of life! However, your experience does not account for that of others. Self-centered statements and thoughts like yours is why the world can be so messed up at times.
