Rockhounding Quartz Crystals & More at Crystal Mine- Near Reno, NV

In this episode of Solomon's Outdoor Adventures, Solomon, Daniel, and Zaya rockhounded at the famous Crystal Mine, located just under an hour from Reno, Nevada. Crystal Mine dates back to WWII and is located in Sierra County, CA, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The crew found lots of quartz, feldspar, copper ore, and more!!!

My wife and I live in Reno and we were up there today.
Found a lot of nice pieces of quartz, and had a blast.
The road was definitely awful and gave my EcoSport a nice challenge. Somehow, someone got up there with a Toyota Corolla and I was actually impressed.

I really, really appreciate the directions! And also a great explanation of the geologics. Thanks so much. I have not been to this area, but know where it is. Unfortunately, when I retired I moved a very long ways away from my hometowns of both Quincy and Reno. Is it possible at 7:37 those are strands of turquoise? Thanks!

You may have mentioned it but what sort of camera do you use mainly?

I use my iPhone 12 to film videos, and a Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS100 for photography!
