I love this song so much. it's been 7 years since I discovered it, I can't say I still laugh hysterically like the first few times but I always enjoy it
BONUS VERSE Intimacy - Remember nights of our sweet intimacy ! Thooose tender moments filled with ... ecstasy ! Actually, if I’m being honest, I was solit'ry. Solit'ry : ) my work here is done
@DrGregoryGregHouseMD He's not an idiot that doesn't know about Hugh Laurie -.- Oh big fan! Don't you know that he sang this LIVE in 2008 and change the lyrics? Although, not big time, one might expect you noticed the changes since this new version is a little bit better fit.
I already knew that -.- the song was written in 1986 and presented in an episode of A Bit of Fry & Laurie. I never said it was from "You Don't Know My Mind". And please check your grammar. I didn't understand what you wrote at last.
@@MikeMeehan I think Sam might have just been commenting on the fact that in the original version Hugh sings "you've been dead since 1993", as opposed to the original version where he sang "1983" instead.
Hopefully there will be a 2022 version, so then it would be " dead since 1973, you've been dead now, just a minute let me see... 50 years next January"
The original wasn't definitely done in more of a comedic way, as it was written for a comedic sketch show. This version is definitely more somber, but I'm sure that people attended remembered it more in its comedic form
2008 isn't new. And it especially isn't from the Single "You don't know my mind". Don't tell that one person, who kissed hugh laurie - she already know everything of him.
i agree but i still love this version though. it's a bit more sincere and the laugh lines come as a surprise, whereas the 80s version is a pure laugh the entire time.
"dead since 1993" that had me in stitches

I never get tired of this song 😂👍
This is hilarious XD
It's one of those songs I could totally imagine playing on the old Muppets TV show.
Hugh and Rolf playing it together haha
I can't get this song out of my head!!
Hugh Laurie, I think you are Fantastic:)
I like how he swapped "taken a violent dislike to me" and "hated me", it works better
This is not from his album, this is infact a very old song for a comedy show.
A bit of fry and Laurie.
New version though. Port Authority instead of Thames Water Authority.
Plus Hugh says "I wrote this a very long time ago".
this is from inside the actors studio
hilarious , love it XD
Big YAY for this recent version.
BONUS VERSE
Intimacy -
Remember nights of our sweet intimacy !
Thooose tender moments filled with ... ecstasy !
Actually, if I’m being honest, I was solit'ry.
Solit'ry
: )
my work here is done
Brilliant
I think early Hugh Laurie would not have liked this version. The timing, lyric changes.
I love this
That song appeared in the pilot episode of "A bit of Fry and Laurie" for the first time... It`s anythind but new...
1:46 !! Glorious...
can i ask for piano sheet for this?
bit of fry and laurie!xD hilarious!!!

: I remember seeing this originally on telly.
I already knew that -.- the song was written in 1986 and presented in an episode of A Bit of Fry & Laurie. I never said it was from "You Don't Know My Mind". And please check your grammar. I didn't understand what you wrote at last.
magnifique
1973 is funnier than 1993
yet there's this lovely poignancy and elegance that comes with the experience he's accumulated in the years since the 80s version

@ScoopMeisterGeneral
Never heard a version where he sings "1983"
guapísimo te amo
such a perfect song... seems to be spontaneous? I'm impressed
I like this version way better. I think due to his timing and the lyric changes
isn't this from "a bit of fry and laurie"
Yes, the pilot
Different performance though.
wow he changes Themes Water Authority to Port Authority
I don't understand why these people are laughing. This is a sad and sentimental song.
The original wasn't definitely done in more of a comedic way, as it was written for a comedic sketch show. This version is definitely more somber, but I'm sure that people attended remembered it more in its comedic form
LOL
ah he changed a lot of parts actually
The only lyric he should have changed is “15 years come next January”
2008 isn't new. And it especially isn't from the Single "You don't know my mind".
Don't tell that one person, who kissed hugh laurie - she already know everything of him.
His voice isn't as funny :/

I read that he did that intentionally. He wanted it to sound more serious and not so goofy.
