Good ol’ Gareth! I just noticed that feature when i was updating an automation, and i was like “😳 This is an epic update. I bet Gareth did a video on this already so i don’t have to learn it on my own…” and sure enough, of course you did!!! haha thanks so much for this! And it’s even more awesome because this is a usecase I’ve been DYING for and have been solving it a bunch of mish-mash ways but this is SO much better. Just curious, have you excuted a project that uses the ‘send gmail’ trigger on a larger scale? i ask because i know there’s a limit you can send out of your gmail before Google shuts you down or locks your account up for a bit. This is what my last team encountered with Monday integration sending through gmail. If it hits a certain threshold, it holds your account. My first thought is to set up a throttling mechanism… probably could be set up with an automation that runs ever x mins until no records in view… Sorry i totally ended up talking myself through this process within this comment LOL it’s an important topic tho!!! :) Thanks again for being such an inspiration and great resource for AirTable!!! :D
Haha!, I haven't sent emails this way through Gmail because of what you described. I only use the Gmail automation when it's part of a specific process, like a proposal or invoice, etc.
Hey Gareth - thank you so much for another tremendous video. You're a great teacher. I noticed, in your earlier videos, that you used a lapel mic and the audio quality was much better than in this (and some other recent) video(s). I'm all but deaf in one ear so dialogue is difficult to recognize when there's an echoey background. Anything you can do to improve the audio quality would be appreciated!
Hi Michael, thanks for watching. It's surprising to me that the lapel mic produced better quality because my new mic is much higher quality. Much, much higher. I do also include captions for all our videos so I hope this helps 🤞
I know this isn't the focus of the video, but I cannot get the date to be updated by way of automation in the way that it's demonstrated here. It looks like I'm doing all the same things, and Airtable says the test runs successfully, but the date field does not update. Do you have any further videos on doing that? Thanks!
By the way, did you know that you can use the last modified date and time field within a record to show the date and time the status changed ( any other field) changed to a particular value. This can be done completely outside of the automation, or the automation can change the field value alone.
Hoping that Airtable add drag-and-drop actions ASAP, cause it's really frustrating having to re-create the entire setup again - and one slight mistake or change needed, then it's all delete and re-create again. 🤦♂
