    getting over the blaming the ref for ruining the game... cant we blame the player for the reckless tackle?

      Really the coach asked him to do that. It's weak that the coach isn't taking any responsibility. Sua'alii tried his best and overdid it and it became a sickening illegal act. All these nsw players and fans are just asking qld to come out and knock their players around. Do you want that, for your players or your players futures? I am tired of seeing nsw with the same bs game plan, holding down, wastes energy, attacking playmakers wastes energy or the other outcome is penalties or send off. Attack lockyer, now attack Thurston, now attack slater, now attack Walsh. How about not doing what doesn't work. Ni heard annaster saying that the nrl should introduce a rule where with a send off after 20mins the team that had the illegal play gets the 18th man. What a load. That is a participation ribbon for illegal play. I wish nsw fans and explayers could just man up and accept their lumps, use this as an example of how not to put pressure on a playmaker.

    If that was Nathan cleary seven minutes in knocked out the exact same way you would all be saying that deserved a send off. Case closed.

    Champion, that’s not how HIA’s work. Reece Walsh was 150% concussed, the amount of force going through his brain would have been unreal. The bloke was borderline dead for 30 seconds and immediately failed his HIA then and there. He did pass a cognitive test to at least show he was aware of what had happened, but he was never any chance of returning to the field.

    • @j0shj0shj0sh
      @j0shj0shj0sh Před 3 měsíci +6

      Yeah - Bloke in a Bar explains it well. He was unconscious, so that is always an automatic fail because of his physical state. He later passed his cat-scan which is good news for his cognitive recovery, but he was never going to be allowed back on the field because he was knocked TFO.

    The shoulder contacted the head with force, causing concussion. It's unfortunate but it's a send off. If it happened the other way, NSW would feel the same way.

  • @kerryobrien71
    @kerryobrien71 Před 3 měsíci +5

    Can't believe what Maloney and Latsy are saying that is was not a sending off offense. You boys are the problem in this sport. It's one of the worst head hits I have seen in recent years, and was worried that Reece would have more serious brain damage. The rules are there to stop this exact thing from happening, regardless of intent. Its about protecting the players brain. Reece has already had enough head knocks to be worried about long term brain damage (CTE) and he's got 12-15 years left in his career.

  • @Legalpigeon

    Mate Walsh was catatonic

  • @kwig3520
    @kwig3520 Před 3 měsíci +9

    Stop saying it was accidental. They've been telegraphing their intent to do something of this nature to Walsh for a week. I wanted a good even contest, and we were denied that, not by the ref (I dislike Klein but he was correct), but by Joseph and the coach and former and current players who egged this on.
    It wasn't accidental, that was terrible technique (not just dangerous, stupid, it led directly to a line break), Joseph should be worried, he'll get red carded every week in union. A thousand other tackles were completed in the game without knocking someone out. Martin put on a couple of big hits that didn't endanger the head. NSW lose because they think the big hits and fights count for points on the scoreboard. QLD don't even win the biffs that often, but you know what they do win? Origin series. Liam Martin flew out of the line and put on great hits, legal hits, wonderful spectacle, then minutes later is too gassed to tackle Ben Hunt 3 on 1.
    Yet every year almost, the constant lament of the NSW establishment wondering why QLD outperforms you most of the time. Because these are your game plans! Maybe plan to score tries, not smash fullbacks?

  • @aup10
    @aup10 Před 3 měsíci +13

    Can these so-called NSW experts make up their mind? So Maloney said that if the hit was blatantly high, then no one can argue against a send off. So one team is still down to 12 and by their reckoning the contest is over. So no difference to this scenario! This was one of the easiest send off decision I seen for some time. Now if you want to argue that send offs ruin games, happy to hear suggestions. But whatever they come up with, there still has to be a considerable penalty for the offending team. Otherwise taking out star players from the opposition will still be an option.

    • @SilentHotdog28
      @SilentHotdog28 Před 3 měsíci

      Exactly, that isn't a 10 in the bin offence, that deserves more. 10 in the bin is repeatedly holding down opponent in the ruck, some accidental high shots, hip drops....ect........That shot deserves a more severe punishment. I've heard the idea that team with offending sent off player can bring 18th man on after 20 minutes, maybe that's sufficient, or maybe 25 minutes. Because it needs to be a big enough penalty that it wards off purposeful dangerous action. But doesn't completely ruin the spectacle for the fans. I know a send off is harsh, especially 7 minutes into a game, especially in a big match like Origin or a final. But we need to make sure that players are protected 1st and foremost.

  • @Joelification1

    "intentional". If I'm driving 100 in a school zone and I hit a kid by accident then whether it's "intentional" or not is kind of pointless. If I dive off my feet at another player leading with my shoulder then I am out of control and taking a risk... in this case he took a guys head off and paid the price. The were other massive hits in the game that were legal, that's the way to do it. Joseph ruined the game, and he has my sympathies but that's the way it is.

    Could you imagine if this was flipped and Clearly was playing and a QLD player went out and accidentally took the head off Clearly in a similar situation as Reece Walsh, NSW media, journos and all the rest would be blowing up deluxe... The conversation would be about protecting the stars of the game, its the pinnacle of the sport, we want our stars to be playing, you shouldnt be allowed to go out and take a player out blah blah blah... honestly this conversation is ridiculous..
    Having a player sent off and then replaced by an 18th man, even if a team is down for 10 mins is also ridiculous... Coaches will abuse this rule.

  • @Br0wnCh3

    Nah, Walsh passed but was still not allowed to play because it was a category 1.
    Just change the red card rule. Use rugby union red card rules.
    Red is off for entire game and then after 20mins, you can activate the 18th man.
    That evens up the game again. Simples.
    This would have meant, Burton gets a run instead of wasting on the side line. Now we have Burton & kafusui on the paddock.
    The old rule dated. Just change it.

    You know what else ruins the spectacle of the game. Taking a star player like Reece Walsh off the field for the entire game because of a reckless tackle.
    Those kind of tackles shorten and ruin players careers.
