Why do people let Blizzard, get away with so few content? In 1 year they used to make an entire expansion (remember how WOTLK released in 2008, after TBC just came out in 2007?). They are a multi-billion dollar company guys. TurtleWoW has 10x more content and they are 5 unpaid people in a basement. How is it possible, that we still give them excuses?

Honestly, you underestimate how much 5 unpaid people in a basement can do vs the usual 9-5 work mindset in a corporate structure. I'd say the difference could be in orders of magnitude... this is also how start-ups operate.

Hey said it was just theory during p2 when asked. They said the initial concepts were just that. When asked in p2 where SM raid was (this was shown along side Kara crypts) they said that they were only just adding to the hype before sod release and things presented just cannot be added.

Phase 7 gonna be like AQ40 is now a 20 man raid, AQ20 is now a 40 man raid. Bug mounts will be ridable anywhere in silithus. Rogues can now use Axes if they do a 40 part chain. AQ40 automatically unlocked (your welcome). Adding purchasable trispec.
they should have released Season of Discovery later when they had content laid out, and would allow for each phase to be around 1 to 1.5 months, so we have something to do quickly and not just wait around .
4 weeks of raiding , is good enough to move on .
This experiment was best when we were exploring the world, and when we have to pause
after about a week, it's just raid log out to the next one, as not many people wanted to do alts , then it's bad design , because the world is already so old, like how many times can you play the same thing, before you get bored ?
Yep, I hope they never do level bands again. That kinda destroyed the game for me.
The level bands are what made the game. Phase 1 saw crowded starting areas for months. And not just all as maxed out lvl 25's in full gear, but also all their alts going through it again. It was beautiful.
SoD came out in NOVEMBER. The fact that we have only had THREE phases so far is ridiculous. SEVEN months just to start leveling at 50. Blizzard putting the same team on SoD and Cata is disgusting. Whoever the higher up is that thought that was a good idea deserves to be fired.
Its 2024 in America bro, they will get a big promotion. Wait until the depression hits next year, then you will have real problems
They kept us in Ashenvale too long. I had no interest logging back in after being capped at 25 for so long.
I didn't really care for the gated content. The reworked raids were cool, but not worth being stuck at that level cap for weeks on end. I would even prefer a fresh classic exp instead of SoD at this point. I would like to see a real classic + instead with just tweaks to the classes to make them more viable. I think they are on the right track with the runes though.
I would love to try a season of cooperation, just normal classic but all mobs are elite.
People are finally starting to realize what I said the first day SoD was announced: This is NOT classic plus, this is the opposite of classic plus as it rewrites everything we loved about classic. I think the chance to have new content put a pair of rose tinted glasses on ya'll.
You can't judge it by looking at the DEAD END of the worst, longest phase of the game. Obviously it's going to have a huge influx come P4 because that's the only phase people really have ever cared about. Tons of people were just waiting for the 60 meta. No one cares about leveling, they're interested in the end game. Grey parsing clowns who care about leveling play on era with the other 20 people who care about it. Another thing is that certain classes have underwent complete transformations from 25 to 60 and a lot of people just preferred to wait for them to iron things out so that they can come into the game at max level when everything is mostly set in stone.
Look at paladins for example. Ret paladin has not had a clear vision the entire duration of SoD. It started P1 as a meta TANK using slow big weapons, transitioned to exorcism spam with crowd pummeler in p2, continued using crowd pummeler and a 2.0 speed fast wep in p3, they then tried to insinuate that twisting was going to come back and be meta, it didn't, and now in p4 theyre getting completely reworked again. There's nothing even remotely similar if you compared 25 ret to 60 ret.
That being said, there needs to be more than just "here's 20 man versions of the 40 man raids". That's good and all but we need NEW content. Not having a scarlet crusade raid is unacceptable. From all I see, there's only a new instance waiting for us at launch, but no new raids unless you consider instanced world bosses new "Raids". A true classic plus has to have completely new content, but using the systems from classic we all know and love. It cannot just be 90% the same old raids just with added difficulty. Not to mention, what is the end goal here? When we get up to Naxx in SoD, what's next for SoD?
I dont know if ill come back honestly. I still follow videos regarding SoD but P3 pretty much killed my excitement with garbage like incursions.
I leveled 6 chars to 25 in P1 and geared 3 of them and played every day.
I leveled 2 chars to 40 in P2 and geared 1 of them and played almost every day still.
I leveled 1 char to 50 in P3, cleared the ST the first 3 lockouts and geared up during that time and just quit.
I got flamed for saying SoD was going to be a steaming pile of shit when it was announced. It was a pathetic attempt by Blizzard to cash in on the Classic+ hype from HardCore WoW. Anyone with half a brain knows how long it takes to create quality content, and there was no way in hell some rinkydink team was going to be able to deliver on that. The devs are so out of touch to what makes vanilla WoW great. It always felt like the project was meant to kill the Classic+ movement.
There was zero evidence it was going to be bad before launch, so you deserved to get shit on. It still isn't bad, you're just a grey parsing clown. Vanilla wow is also the opposite of great.
My main problem with SOD is that, it’s the most toxic community in wow by far.
Quit shortly after phase 2. Would consider coming back if they had a new server that got rid of the new grinds like the world pvp events, reps, and runes. Just thinking about having to do those grinds to catch up is a huge deterence.
You can get 1-50 with a full set of gear, all runes, and about 3-400g in 3 days. If you can't handle that then you shouldn't play an mmo. They couldn't make it any easier without giving you everything upon login

As someone who didn't get to play Vanilla content back in the day since I started later, SoD has been fun for me, but I definitely see how recurring WoW players who have played th re-release of Classic back in 2019 would be dissatisfied with this. Phase 3 has been too long no matter how you look at it for anyone, and I wish they had pre-developed content like 6 months ahead of SoD phase 1, so they could introduce things quicker. Overall I am excited for phase 4, but I understand why so many have abandoned ship
Couple things. As much as we might not like GDKP. Its really the only thing that keeps good players coming back to raids which gives the opportunity for new players to run them. Phase 1 was the best part of SoD. Coming out with the next phase took to long. The changes for Phase 4 are not hype enough.
Season of discovery is everything I don't like about classic combined with many things I don't like about retail. The worst of both worlds. They completely thumbled it. Playing Classic Era instead again and cata classic after briefly gaining all rewards in Mop. Won't return to SoD.

The issue is the classic player hatred of micro transactions. We all seen that classic provides vertually no money to the company when they could have released some pet or mount in retail and made 3 times the amount all of classic has provided. So there is no reason to work hard on classic other than to keep retail player busy between those content draughts.
If phase 4 doesnt revive, im out of WoW completely. Zero interest in retail or anything else
blizzard has almost 20 years of content saved. all there nickel and dimming with sod or classic or retail they act like they cant figuring anything out is bogus. as a business they are smart having you all follow the slow incremental content promising you improvements knowing the improvements could have been done in the first place. its why i stop playing. i like wow been playing since 2005 but im hoping they do make a re-make . could be next year or 5 years from now its fine. if not its fine good things don't last forever and there will be a variety of adventure games to play.
they could just use some ideas from retail, that could work in a classic setting, use those dungeon layouts to make new raids and implement bosses and enemies around that zone.
WoW sub never brought more value for players since we can choose between 4 different versions of the game (Era, SoD, Cata, Retail). This also leads to WoW progress being less meaningful with communities split.
I sincerely doubt SoD can recover at this point. Imagine being a returning player with 50g from p1 and with no raid items going into BRM for a pvp event or just trying to do a dungeon to gear up and get corpse camped 10 times before you go in. You can't find a good guild because you lack logs. You cant buy gear because you lack gold. You can't find old friends because most wont return and existing guilds dont want casuals that quit in between phases. At best there will be two remaining realms, one for each faction, just like in Cata until they decide to pull the plug.
Most value SoD can bring for the future of WoW is by using all the collected data for the next season if they ever decide to bring some actual content instead of rune system alone.
"remaining realms, one for each faction"? Are you talking about PvE servers? coz that's impossible in SoD PvP servers due to the faction balance system, which is the best thing that has came up from SoD coz it will be surely used in all future servers.
It's really disappointing to see no new raids to start phase 4... We had 8 raids in tbc and there's only 7(not including U/LBRS) in classic.. we could add 2 or 3 raids in the endgame and have it still fall in line with normal content releases. Hearthglen or maybe the demon scar should have had a raid added them
SoD is so poorly thought out, they just throw in 50 spells and hope for the best. Like, if they can't do anything right just contact the guys at turtle wow already that seems to capture the spirit of classic 100x better
Stopped SoD early p3. Did a little bit of Retail. Ended up coming back to HC WoW and it's the best version of the game. It's stil active and social, the true MMO classic experience where people are friendly, willing to help, look out for eachother. People care more about staying alive than parsing and it weeds out all the toxic players. I would love Era but with the inflated 2019 servers, it's not Classic WoW, it's swipe your credit card and buy full BiS.

I only played phase 1. That was an absolute blast, but I assumed that would be the peak so never got onboard at phase 2.
They spaced it out wrong as well. Should have been P1 level 25, P2 lvl 45, P3 lvl 60. Shit took way too long. They also botched the STV event and have yet to fix it 2 phases later, as well as incursions are fucking boring
The space in between the phases has been too fricken long.
Feels like forever for each phase to come out and you're done in two weeks.
Also since Phase 1 we haven't discovered shit... taking runes and making them baseline abilities sort of ruins the whole past experience of finding them or collecting them with friends.

It is obvious, have you seen the graph? nobody is playing wow anymore phase 1 - 500k people, phase 3 - 40k people. I think Blizzard will not invest a lot of resources in a dead game.

OSRS progression system on wow engine would be the best game ever made. Because as long as you are FORCED to group up with randoms, it's going to be miserable experience.
90iq neanderthals can gatekeep you from doing piss easy content, simply because you're not doing something specific that they want. Whether it be previous xp achievements, or paying gold(RMT).
I only played P1, and that was enough cancer for me. People telling me I need full bis to do a level 25 dungeon is mind boggling, and it says more about the community than it does about a single individual.
Just scale all content down to being soloable, and groupable as an option. Then make the end game stuff (like raids) very difficult to learn and play. That way, the people who are actually good gets rewarded, and the neanderthals can enjoy doing their level 30 content forever if they want to.
But that's never going to happen, so why would I ever sub to POS content from a POS company? Just log on rs instead lol

All I wanted was level 60, they dragged the phases on so long and the population is so dead, is it even worth trying 60. Im still not convinced to go back and most feel the same. 60 could be amazing and im not going to jump in later on.

We already know Staysafe will be playing SOD as well and trying to watch echo chamber videos only proves more you people are hypocrites.
It's not that season of discovery is boring, but rather they don't get their target at all.
Since Phase 1 they couldn't decide whether SoD was for casual players or more hardcore players or players with more time to spend on the game, and they leaned on the second one in Phase 2 and on. Fact is, the game as it was and as it is sucks for somebody who wants more content, more balance and more devs engagement. They keep saying "we hear all your feedbacks", but either they're lying or they just don't care. They literally maimed entire specializations. Take the feral and balance druid or the shadow priest for example. They don't know what to do with these classes since they are leaning on a "retail-like" style of playing for them, since they are not targetting casual players with SoD.
First and foremost, their player-base is totally wrong and this shows poor planning on their behalf.

It seemed likely from the roadmap that average phase lengths would need to exceed two months although I think most people would have missed that because you almost had to draw on it yourself to work out which months everything would happen in. Plus it was only indicative. At around six months, I guess SoD actually retained players relatively well compared to say, Hardcore, which I found far more enjoyable but which ultimately lasted only around two months. While Hardcore felt like a huge success story, SoD has been let down by this perceived delay and lack of content, showing that Blizzard are still incapable of maintaining their products, even though SoD was itself only a cop out because they couldn't be bothered to make Classic+.

2 reasons for me . Too many damn bots wich makes anything you do wortless.and too pain in the ass to make alts and search for runes over and over again. It is cool but dont want to go around the world to get them more than once .And ofc one extra. People act like if you dont treat game like a job you are doing it wrong aka optimizing fun out of the game.
