    in all honesty, garage content is what your audience would love to see since this is currently the chapter of life you're going through with rebuilding the pink pig (unless of course working on that is a really slow process). It doesn't have to been the whole channel, but I think we all would love to see updates more periodically.

    I have 4 mercedes Vaneo's (I'm an enthusiast).
    I had the same idea as you, to make one into a trailer, but every garage I've been to, has advised me against it, because unless you intend to do a double axel trailer, then it just doesn't work, weight distribution wise.
    They used to do it with Mini's in the old days, but there're many unseen modifications, to make the whole balance work.

    • @HarrisonSchoen

      I can’t imagine the half trailer built out will weigh more than 2,500lbs with fuel tank, differential, engine, trans, seats and front end removed. Perfectly within the load rating of the tires/wheels and suspension that will be on it! My only concern is wanting to have trailer brakes on it!

    With all your knowledge of Cayenne's, maybe you can help with my issue? I have a massively broken 955 turbo. I love this thing even if it haemorrhages my cash! One issue that really is getting to me is that when I had the battery replaced, I lost menu options onere is no longer the ability to change what types the dash, so th the car has! I also don't seem to have the options for a Bose sound system on the PCM 2.1 system. It is so minor I have not really looked into it yet. As for your content, it's amazing, I got the PIG before I knew about your channel. My idea was to overland it, but thus far, money and time and the fact I seem to have got a very broken one have stopped me from doing fun stuff. Maybe I'll hit up some green lanes this year when I get 18-inch wheels and new tyres. depends on how often it needs work done between now and the end of the year the jobs list is massive!

Also, after doing the shake-down off-road test , answer the question - how much improvement did the mods make to the vehicle , what would you change if any ?

  • @4llen
    @4llen Před 11 měsíci

    I would highly advise against using a vehicle shell as a trailer. Especially one of these. What ends up happening is the rear axle is the only axle on the "trailer" which in turn puts most of the weight of the "trailer" on the tongue. Which in turn puts it all on the rear bumper of the tow vehicle. There's a reason why all trailers have an axle or 2 located fairly close to the center of the trailer to disperse load evenly. The driving/towing characteristics will be terrible and you'll regret all the work you put in to a custom trailer

    • @HarrisonSchoen
      @HarrisonSchoen  Před 11 měsíci

      Definitely something that I’m going to consider, and I’ll likely cut it a bit further back than the firewall to make most of the weight sit over the rear wheels.
      Likely will put a spare tire carrier on it to further push the weight back also.

      I'd stay away from 2008. The rumor goes that porsche was using two different block manufactures up until manufacture date till around 10/08. One was doing the lokasil process correctly one was doing it incorrectly. Porsche caught onto it and switched to just the one manufacturer so if you're getting an S make sure you get a late model 2009 or newer.

    If you don't want to be cooked in the garage, just enjoy life and go on adventures man. Don't blame you, it seems like a lot of fun, it just doesn't translate as well as content so the trail videos got repetitive for me. Still subscribed though. For me, it's not about the mechanic content. I find build breakdowns like this entertaining and I enjoy whitnessing the creative/expressive aspect of it. I think your builds got a great sense of style and I'm all for it. I didn't know you had so many builds. I would love to see some kinda makeover/build and maybe even flip type of video with the new one. You could explain some of the crucial components and upgrade mods in off-road cayanne builds. Mod install/Testing series could be a thing. I Would love to see updates on the pink pig. None of this necessarily full in-depth, just a blend of cinematic and breakdown and vlog format, at your own pace and style. I hope this helps.

    I think there’s plenty of documented builds on CZcams and if you don’t like investing in the video/editing then maybe just do that every other month. I enjoy the walk arounds describing what was done. Some items you gloss over hardly describing any details about what was done. Example: how the dash plate was made and attached so your navigation/communication equipment and be mounted.
    I am setting up my 2015 diesel Cayenne for over landing. While some of your channels content applies to me, what your channel provides is inspiration and ideas how to apply what you’ve accomplished to my setup.
