I would definitely change the cushion and maybe flywire as well, but I think they might have used that synthetic leather originally to make the shoe lighter in 2009 to begin with.
Damn ya voice sounds so more clearer, ion know what Yu did to get that mucus out, but keep that shit up. Yu finally sound clear. Easy to listen to again.

So I've been play in these for a couple months and yes the traction was really nice, the cushioning set up wasn't bad. In my opinion they are good performance sneakers but just... you know, not really "Protro". It's just not making me feel comfortable for asking that much money. Well, I still say it's not a loss cuz they still one of the best from last decade. Paying for good memories lol

I got the UNDFTD Black Mamba colorway and they feel cushy. This is my first non full length zoom bball shoe in about 2 years also
I really don't care about the lack of cushion. I'm just happy I got to get a Kobe 4. Didn't get one back in the day. The one thing that was disappointing was the lack of more colorways.
175$ for a sneakers with a lot of plastic in the upper, especially Nike can update the leather quality in the fore foot area. Synthetic leather on Kobe 4 protro looks really cheap.
Similarly with Nike, it seems like you are spending 1000$ on a 64gb storage mobile phone from brand A in 2019

I get what you saying, you would want to have seen upgrades to the IV’s with all the tech that Nike has floating around and also the price they put on them. But from a basketball stand point IMO it really isn’t a disappointing performer. As of rite know these are my go-to shoes to hoop in over my kyrie 5’s. The Disappoint is calling them a protro when Nike did the bare minimum to the tech of these Kobe’s. I hope they don’t mess up the 8’s tho. Matter of fact I would be happy if they would just re-release them as is, ha.
B.Inspired.2.Inspire yeah man ths Kobe 8s are probably the most well rounded kobe shoe IMO. From traction, support, cushion and comfort its really undefeated.
you can’t change the upper, the upper has to look exactly the same as the og. changing up the material on the upper with a fly kit or mesh is not a protro... just a new version of that shoe. but they could’ve changed the cushion or changed the leather to real leather.

Didnt Kobe said that he wantes it to look eactly the same as 10 years ago for all the protros? Isnt that why he agree the retro idea? I feel like the only way to upgrade would be cushion and some materials in some area that would still look the same

So, you rated the original IV as being the best Kobe model, above newer signature models, but then you're disappointed the re-release was pretty much a 1:1? Doesn't make much sense.
Use to love nikes all they're shoes are narrow. And they come apart after a couple months like adidas pro bounce better support then again im 6'5 240lb. Size 16 shoe nike dont make alot of big sz shoes always gotta get a sz. Up with any nike shoe

Even though there isn’t full length zoom; Nike added injected phylon instead of the infamous bottoming out lunarlon in the forefoot, and a better rubber compound for the outsole. They enhanced a great shoe, get the recently release FTB version for premium materials.

I'm the Southeast asian. So the sneakers like these are rare for me. And now I'm thinking should I get Kobe4 protro(if it were like I got once before, get Hyperdunk x low(like I always used this serie before) or try the new Zoom Freak? So thanks for getting my comments😊😊

I have these from 2008 or 2009 I’m not 100% but I also got the Kobe proto 6 black del sol from 2010

The originals in 2009 were great, and still are the best....they didn’t need full length anything to be the number 1 shoes ever produced.

Why don't sneaker reviewers understand the need for professionals to nee good heal impact protection? On step back and fadaway jumpers, players NEED good heal cushion for impact protection. There is nothing wrong with the Kobe 4 other than the name that suggests its different to the original. If you liked the original then why should this be so disappointing? It may be disappointing to you, but to the market and players, I don't think so. It just didn't match your expectations J.
I am part of the market and I am a player. Anything that can be said for the heel can be said for the forefoot. They're equally as important.
@@JAHRONMON I'm glad you're saying they're equally important because most reviewers focus 80% on the forefoot, as if the bounce in the forefoot is going to propel them higher or faster during their plays. Don't get me wrong, I love some bounce but it often hurts court feel which is imperative to speed and change of direction for guards. Either way man, love your work bro, keep it up....oh and if you play those NBA Playmakers again, take more control. You're better than many of them ball hogs. yeah, I know ;-)

Zoe Sh it was bad info, the protro was never gonna have full length, we just assumed and they put it in the initial description. When we said they cancelled the lunar, we meant the original Kobe 4 has lunar foam in the forefoot and zoom in the heel. Now the protro took out lunar in the forefoot, so they removed tech.

Kobe's death has nothing to do with the performance of this shoe. Nike marketed it as a Protro (Performance Retro). Yet made no significant changes basically making them the exact same shoe. Pretty disappointing considering Kobe's highs standards.

Don’t blame Nike. Blame the hype beasts and resellers. Nike knew the moment Kobe died (RIP) they could have used ground up styrofoam cups for the cushion because regardless, they would sell out seconds after they released. So why cut into their margins with updated tech when they will sell anyway... Kobe wouldn’t have let that fly.
Select general release of Protro 4s (FTB, Wizenard, Del Sol) dropped in 2019, which would pre-date his passing and your argument.

@@JAHRONMON Also the notion that the KB1 Protro is a vast improvement due to the changes is false. OG KB1 have better transition and are arguably more comfortable.
KB4 is already a light shoe, no need to shed weight. They last long and are much more plush and have a smoother ride compared to the shoes you tried to compare with in the PG3/DON1.

You wouldn't know what the OG is like, that's why you bought the wrong size for the protro. I am sure you know where to find the dissection pictures. OG KB1 has thicker zoom and bigger shank.
