My mom had a 1968 sedan deville in the same coler ,but with black leather that was just so nice .These cars performed on back roads with pot holes and abrupt corners so well ,you would be shocked .

1968 was the first year for the 472. Gm also did away with the variable pitch torque converter, probably figuring the increased torque of the 472 didn't require it. 1968 also saw the introduction of side marker lights and parking lamps that remain lit when the headlights are on.

It is a beautiful car, but I wish you wouldn't exaggerate the equipment. There were many more options available at that time on the Coupe de Ville, including Cruise Control, Twilight Sentinel, AM/8 track tape player, and full leather upholstery(just to name a few of the most often the cars were equipped with). The leather cars had beautiful wood door panel inserts that were difficult to tell from real walnut. I hope the car went to an appreciative new owner. Thanks again for the video.

Great video as usual! Sometimes these guys selling classic cars really don't know what they are talking about and makes me cringe! The vinyl top on this car is wrong and I seriously doubt that it was a 'dealer' installed 'option'. It looks like someone many years later installed the top. Most likely it had a full length top and thought that the 'landau' top would look 'cool'. This top is the modern 'Tuxedo' grained top and the original top was a courser grain used by Cadillac only up to 1976. In 1977, Cadillac started to use the Tuxedo grain top material. I have been in the auto upholstery business for almost 50 years. I owned a 68 Coupe deVille in this exact color and it had a factory vinyl top, which was a full length top. The interior cloth was called 'Domino' and the leather & vinyl was called 'Kiwi'. The 68 Cadillacs were great cars and I took mine on several long trips with no issues. I could get about 15 or 16 miles per gallon on the hiway using regular unleaded and it didn't complain too much using the low octane fuel. I put over 150000 miles on mine and it may use a 1/2 quart of oil between oil changes. I put a dual exhaust system on it and it had a real nice growl to it! I sold it many years ago and really regret that decision but that's not the first time I sold a car and later had sellers remorse.

Beautiful Coupe de Ville in the rarer green w/green cloth to boot. First year Cadillac had standard hide-a-way windshield wipers as well that self-parked. Just a clean classy look all around.

@Lou Costabile Another Great Video Lou. The "side lamps" are actually cornering lamps. They turn on with the turn signals, but don't flash, and work like small headlights to light the area to the side you are turning, very important in rural areas with no lights. They should put these on modern cars it is a great feature. Please Lou, can you just call me "Max" and drop the Redman.

1968 was first year for the 472 engine.....Imperial had a 440 and Lincoln had a 460 I believe .... Caddy showed them who's the boss .. Caddy ruled back then ... Imperial and Lincoln were her Queen rivals ..... these 3 cars were the triple crown of luxury cars back then...USA's Best

Beautiful car! I love these cars so much, just so unique, so Cadillac, so Elvis. I mean if Elvis was a car in 1968 you're touring it in this video. I love classics but I'm not a HUGE fan if 60s American, I find some slightly basic, but Cadillac. Cadillac has always been different and for the better. What's happened to the car industry now days? It needs serious help.

the Calais model was more like an entry level Cadillac - but still a Cadillac through and through - typically with a brocade fabric interior - a beautiful car - is the interior original? I noticed the front side marker lamps (integral with the cornering lamps) were not illuminated as well as the right rear side marker lamp
