My mom had a 1968 sedan deville in the same coler ,but with black leather that was just so nice .These cars performed on back roads with pot holes and abrupt corners so well ,you would be shocked .

1968 was the first year for the 472. Gm also did away with the variable pitch torque converter, probably figuring the increased torque of the 472 didn't require it. 1968 also saw the introduction of side marker lights and parking lamps that remain lit when the headlights are on.
Hi, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge on the Caddy, Lou
your right ..all 68 USA cars had to have side lit lights.. front side and rear side..
It is a beautiful car, but I wish you wouldn't exaggerate the equipment. There were many more options available at that time on the Coupe de Ville, including Cruise Control, Twilight Sentinel, AM/8 track tape player, and full leather upholstery(just to name a few of the most often the cars were equipped with). The leather cars had beautiful wood door panel inserts that were difficult to tell from real walnut. I hope the car went to an appreciative new owner. Thanks again for the video.
Hi James Ziegler, Glad you enjoy the looks of this one :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
this was a very beautyfull green car !
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
I love that grill ! Beautiful shade of green. Excellent quality.
Happy to read the details you love on this car :-)
HEY LOU !!, GLAD TO SEE YA !!
HEY DENNIS !! I'LL C YA !!
I used to toy with vettes at lights. that 472 was no joke, man.
Good times :-)
Great video as usual! Sometimes these guys selling classic cars really don't know what they are talking about and makes me cringe! The vinyl top on this car is wrong and I seriously doubt that it was a 'dealer' installed 'option'. It looks like someone many years later installed the top. Most likely it had a full length top and thought that the 'landau' top would look 'cool'. This top is the modern 'Tuxedo' grained top and the original top was a courser grain used by Cadillac only up to 1976. In 1977, Cadillac started to use the Tuxedo grain top material. I have been in the auto upholstery business for almost 50 years. I owned a 68 Coupe deVille in this exact color and it had a factory vinyl top, which was a full length top. The interior cloth was called 'Domino' and the leather & vinyl was called 'Kiwi'. The 68 Cadillacs were great cars and I took mine on several long trips with no issues. I could get about 15 or 16 miles per gallon on the hiway using regular unleaded and it didn't complain too much using the low octane fuel. I put over 150000 miles on mine and it may use a 1/2 quart of oil between oil changes. I put a dual exhaust system on it and it had a real nice growl to it! I sold it many years ago and really regret that decision but that's not the first time I sold a car and later had sellers remorse.
Hi packard5682, Thank you for the kind words on the video, it's appreciated. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and story on your car too :-) Lou
Also, 1968 was the first year for the 'Hide Away' windshield wipers. Looked great until you had the back side of the hood packed with snow and ice!

Hi Roberto, Happy to receive a "Wowwww 😱!" from you :-) Hope you see many more cars on this Channel you enjoy, Lou
Beautiful Coupe de Ville in the rarer green w/green cloth to boot. First year Cadillac had standard hide-a-way windshield wipers as well that self-parked. Just a clean classy look all around.
Hi rbielarski, Glad you like this one :-) Thank you for viewing and commenting. Hope you see many cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
@Lou Costabile Another Great Video Lou. The "side lamps" are actually cornering lamps. They turn on with the turn signals, but don't flash, and work like small headlights to light the area to the side you are turning, very important in rural areas with no lights. They should put these on modern cars it is a great feature. Please Lou, can you just call me "Max" and drop the Redman.
Hi Max, Happy to read you enjoy this video :-) Thank you for the tip on the "cornering lamps" too, Lou
Those skirt locks are fancy!
We used to just Davcon single-edge razor blades up in the lip of our skirts... But it WORKED.😝
Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Carlton Dobbs, Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou

Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many more cars on this CZcams Channel you'll enjoy :-) Lou
1968 was first year for the 472 engine.....Imperial had a 440 and Lincoln had a 460 I believe .... Caddy showed them who's the boss .. Caddy ruled back then ... Imperial and Lincoln were her Queen rivals ..... these 3 cars were the triple crown of luxury cars back then...USA's Best
Hi MrTitan225, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Ive owned many Cadillac's .....1961 Ragtop was my 1st car ..I took my drivers test in this car...those killer fins ... they were Cadillac's signature in the day .....It's sad that today Cadillac is into SUV's and fast sporty cars....Guess Im old fashioned ..
That aftermarket half-way vinyl top is an abomanation. No vinyl top, all paint really accentuates the body lines.
Thanks for viewing and sharing.
WHAT A B-E-AUTIFUL LONG, SWOOPING REAR END.....SO GRACEFUL & FUNCTIONAL AS WELL.
Glad to read you enjoy this car Sonny Haskins :-) Lou
Awesome ! Thanks for sharing ! Martin
Hi Martin,
Glad you enjoyed viewing. I saw it and felt it's a real amazing vehicle.
Lou
You forgot to show the size of the trunk, which I assume is big enough to live in or use as a luxury pickup truck (Probably has more floor space in trunk, than new full size pickup trucks.! )..
Hi Howard1939,
I believe you're right on the size of the trunk :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing.
Lou
i could be wrong but im doubting that the landau top was an option in 68.
Hmmm, not sure. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge.
i got one
Nice :-)
That is a car not the crap Cadillacs they build today.
This car has style
Happy to read you enjoy this car with "style" :-)
Yes I do I don't like anything that is produced today
The car is 18.75 feet long. My garage is 19 feet long...Coincidence? I think not... Time to buy one
Hope you get yours soon :-)
Lou Costabile believe it or not I just bought one. It's coming from California its paid for. Dealing with transport now.
I did not see tilt and telescoping steering wheel on this car, along with a lot of other options. Nice car, though.
Glad you enjoy this one senorkaboom :-)
Beautiful car! I love these cars so much, just so unique, so Cadillac, so Elvis. I mean if Elvis was a car in 1968 you're touring it in this video. I love classics but I'm not a HUGE fan if 60s American, I find some slightly basic, but Cadillac. Cadillac has always been different and for the better. What's happened to the car industry now days? It needs serious help.
Hi Yeenosaur, Glad you "love these cars" and have fun on the Channel :-) Lou
+Lou Costabile I always have fun and in glad you post these videos!
My pleasure :-)
+Lou Costabile maybe one tin you could a do a British car series? like classic British?
There are many British cars on the Channel. Like this one :-) Enjoy! Lou czcams.com/video/YVsvfkE1aKQ/video.html
In 68 safety belts were not optional

👍🏁
:-)
clock doesn't work?
Many times this is the case. It's a nice surprise when you see a cars clock working before 1975. Lou
+Lou Costabile my 1964 Buick rivieras clock still works perfectly well as well as every other feature that came on it LOL
That's a real treat, Lou
I KNOW.. THE BEST, CRANK-OPEN SIDE VENTS-ISNT THAT THE SCHIZZZ....... LIKE I SAID; BEAUTIFUL PRIOR TO GOVM'T AND E.P.A. INVOLVEMENT.
@Sonny Haskins @Lou Costabile My friend has a 1968 Coupe Deville, it has power vent windows, 6 power window switches on the arm rest. He also has a 1962 Fleetwood/Sedan Deville with front and rear power vent windows...8 power window switches on the arm rest. I have never seen another Cadillac with 8 power windows.
Hi Sonny Haskins, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge :-) Lou
This really doesn’t have all the available options. It’s missing cruise, tilt/telescopic wheel, rear defogger blower. It’s a basic Cadillac.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge Joey D. Hope you see many more cars on this CZcams Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
the Calais model was more like an entry level Cadillac - but still a Cadillac through and through - typically with a brocade fabric interior - a beautiful car - is the interior original? I noticed the front side marker lamps (integral with the cornering lamps) were not illuminated as well as the right rear side marker lamp
