    14 sousaphones. 7 bassoons ?? That is AWESOME. I can't get over the clean articulation. This is simply AMAZING. I've been showing my kids this for something to work towards. BRAVO

    One of the best bands I ever seen in 6a. Was in a comp. with them and they won all sweepstakes...

    Thank you. As for advice, I always like to arrive early to any parade/band review I shoot video at in order to secure a good spot. A 2 or 3 step ladder helps as you get a better vantage point when filming. Of course for this event, I was fortunate enough to have a much taller ladder set up for me by the Arcadia volunteers/staff.

    Something like 14 sousaphones? When Arcadia marched in the 1963 Rose Parade there were 5 sousaphones. An amazing HS band.

    Even back in the '60s Arcadia always had a great band. The were the heavy competition at the All-Western Band Review in Long Beach.

    What a band...it's almost like the stormy weather makes them that much more epic!

    An amazing Civil War march. I have played it in concert but not on parade. Like one of the other commentators, I prefer my bands to be focused on the music, with less of the flourishing, in fact without a band front at all. Still, a good performance, especially holding those runs together across such a large band.

    First time I've watch Arcadia Band video. I'm from the East so I'm not familiar with them. They hold their lines better than video's I've seen of USC's Band. Sound quality is rich.

    it would be cool to have some of the so cal bands come to nor cal. I'd like to see what their results would be in the ncba parade circuit.

      I know this is like 4 years late, but Loara HS did go to the 2019 Vallejo Band Review and got 2nd place.

      @@fire_man3173 I know that Arcadia went to the Napa band review in 2010 and 2012 and got band, music, marching and drum major sweepstakes both times. It'd be interesting to see other SoCal AA bands head up north though.

    Not the biggest Arcadia street band I've ever seen, but at what looks (at one quick count) to be around 260 members, it looks (and pretty much sounds) like a good-sized university band. Rather typical for Arcadia, I think.

      @iDigidude Před 5 lety +1

      Since Arcadia is the Host Band at this event, everybody marches. When competing, the band will be smaller, as only those who have passed an audition will march. The band has grown to such a large size, they have competed with 2 bands in some competitions. The "Varsity" Band, which is the Best of the Best, and a "Junior Varsity" Band which is better than most.

    The young ladies who are working with the flags are a drill team not a colour guard that pertains to the flags with a rifle on each end

    This is a prime example of a "left-handed compliment" ....give with one hand, take back with the other. You ARE right about one thing......this IS much ado about nothing.....and the composer's name is "Grafulla"....just one little "niggling" detail.
