During the shooting of Namak Haram Directed by Hriskesh Mukherjee the role of the Industrialists Mill owner Son was scripted for Rajesh Khanna..but after reading the content he requested Director Mukherjee that he would like to play the role of a Mill worker staying in the Basti as Mr Khanna thought there was more scope in Acting that role...which was actually drafted for Mr Amitabh Bachchan ..but when the movie was realized the Public opinion went towards Amitabh..As a Angry young man..even during the shooting time Amitabh who used to arrive early on the Sets had to wait for hours for Actor Rajesh Khanna to arrive..& Ofcourse Khanna was given first preference to the Make-Up room while Amit used to sit on the bench alone waiting for Khanna to finish his Make-Up .Amit was treated very badly during the making of Namak Haram..Time was turning into Amit favor...
