Massive fan of Prem Chopra! Amazing actor and seems like a decent person too. Good to see him again after a long time.
Many actors would love to experience even the "Downfall" of Rajesh Khanna. Even though he never reached the heights of 1969-72, he was still the highest paid actor until 1987. That speaks for itself. Also he has many hits in 1980s starting with super hit Souten. No one can still match his record of 15 solo super hits as an actor. In those days there was no internet and hence no social media and despite of that the craze and frenzy of people was phenomenal. Girls wanted to marry him and Men copied his cloths and hairstyles. His downfall was predictable because after 1973 he was typecast in similar type films and by that time multi starrer films started to attract public imagination but Khanna worked in some very good films in 80s.
His fees ego also became a hurdle to recover movie investment. He only used to less his fees for hrishikesh Mukherjee movies
15 solo superhits but 50 flops afterwasrds so that downfall no one can match,he was drunk and jealous of amitabh surge to superstar,kaka was a fluke superstar

Kaka was Real Super Star...Solo hits...he was not dependant on other co stars to give a hit film. That was the difference between Kaka and Amitabh. Amitabh gave good films working with other Great actors like Sanjeev Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha until 1979, after that he became a prisoner of his angry man image. Kaka on the hand...gave a bouquet of diverse , different films...Bawarchi, Anand, Dushman, Safar, Sacha Jhuta, Bandhan, Amar Prem, Namak Haram, Aradhana, Kati Patang which other actor can boast of a collection of such beautiful films to his name. Kaka was a pioneer. Amitabh lost his status after Namak Halal...1982. Kaka' s first five years will always be remembered forever in Hindi Cinema. Kaka makes new fans in every generation. There is no comparison between Kaka and Amitabh.
I have almost never seen interviewers who have the decency to let the guests speak without interruption. I don't understand what is the purpose of calling guests on shows and keep interrupting them while they are articulating themselves?
I think a biopic on Kaka would be quite interesting given the drama in his life- sudden superstardom, marriage with a 16 yo, equally rapid downfall followed by domestic troubles, resurgence and death from cancer- it has the complete package! Casting would be tricky though😊

Rajesh Khanna was the biggest superstar from 1969-1975. Then he had a low phase and Amitabh Bachan took over from 1977-1982. Rajesh made a comeback and was back on top between 1982-1985. After that he has some hits here and there but slowly faded away. His last hit film was Swarg in 1990.

...with due respect to u....but Rajesh Khanna was never a good actor nor a superstar....!!...there was an era of magic trio "Dilip- dev- raj "...in 50 60...means legends dilip saab...dev anand saab- raaj kapoor saab(as per media repo)....n during '70s post zanjeer, deewar sholay the revolution had already started of legend big b sir(amit ji) n is still there as on dt(2024) he is still dominating the big/small screen n other endorsements etc...at 80+....how many actors in india cinema have dominated for more than 5 decades....atleast I m 50 + n so many gen(die hard fans/followers/devotees) including bollywood actors kids have grown up just watching his films....I hardly saw Rajesh film like Anand n namak haram...that too with big b sir....ok...how many actors of big b level/grade like dharam ji, shatru sir r in films as on dt....??....

Kaka experienced fame so quickly! It was crazy and too much. Premji is is right. He didn’t adjust. Also he was not willing to try different types of roles and the big time directors that made Bachchan a star refused to work with him. Literally Kaka could have done Deewaar, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, and Sharaabi easily and the films would have had the same cultural impact if he was the lead. He played drunken characters the MOST realistic way. He was such a versatile and gifted actor. He never gets his flowers because he is truly a legend.

Today's generation actors are more aware,adapt quickly.even amitji,rishi kapoor didn't go for character role until they realised they are old.. both went on to play lead till late 90s..
But Amitabh Bachchan adjusted to character roles in 2000 at age of 58 n Rajesh khanna was in his youth in mid 70s how could any1 adjust.
He did adjust in 1983 in disco dancer at age 41 or an amrut or swarg.
Ranbir Kapoor is 41 n he has given an animal all time blockbuster.

It was not just character roles Rajesh khanna didn't work in multi starrer movies when their demand were in peak . When he lost his box office draw power he used to still come late ,lack of professionalism. Rajesh khanna in his last movies also tried to play the young Rajesh khanna in old body . When was Rajesh Khanna's downfall? I don't understand. As a growing up kid in the 1970s & 80s l saw the popularity of Rajesh Khanna. He was very much in Demand and Saleable. Rajesh Khanna was known as the "Big 3" with Jeetendra and Amitabh. He gave so many Super Hits during my schooling days in 1970s & 80s. Kudrat, Thodi si Bewafai, Souten, Avtaar, Fifty Fifty, Bandish, Agar tum ne hote, Maksad, Red Rose, Amrit, Akhir Kyun, Chaila Babu etc. Rajesh Khanna was our Top Hero in the same bracket as Dharamendra Shashi Kapoor Sanjeev Kumar Vinod Mehra, Jeetu, Vinod Khanna Amitabh Shatru and Rishi Kapoor.

Luck plays a large part in films being successful. Jay Santoshi ma, a film released parallely to Sholay was also one of the biggest block buster of those times, nobody can instantly name the starcast of that film.Kaka was not humble about the fact that luck played a huge part in his success, therefore the downfall.

No need to compare a man who created a bubble and was lucky that the public was looking for an alternate to the ageing trio of Dilip/ Raj/ Dev and even to Shammi and Rajendra and mediocre actors like Joy Mukherjee and Biswajeet. Kaka came along and due to that void captured that space as he winked, nodded and charmed his way through to capture the gap.
That was all that was needed, the post 1973 era required a change, Bachchan came along and gave Zanjeer and Abhimaan and by the time they both worked in Namak Haraam, it was clear who would carry the baton for the next decade. Bachchan proved himself. Kaka didn't evolve, Bachchan did and the producers could see it.
If you, analyse Bachhan's movies from the 1973-77 phase you will realise that he kept on learning and overcame whatever shortcomings he felt were in his armoury so much so that by the time Amar Akbar Anthony came along he had literally transformed himself. Kaka just couldn't do comedy and action with as much ease as Bachchan and so he took the lead and carried it forward

Rajesh is over rated. He was average actor like Sanjiv Kumar, Shashi Kapoor etc. Became Star by luck. His downfall was certain. Other actors like Dharmendra, Amitabh, Salman and Shahrukh has given more hits.
