This video implies you can customize what fog of war can look like to you.
There might even be a whole fluid simulation as your units walk through it and dispel the fog.
If you look at SC2 it's just grayness in the fog of war, no actual fog. That's how every RTS works that I can think of. This cud be a neet idea.
would love a side by side to the default and also a showcase on a more neutral toned map so the color of the fog is more apparent. I can't tell if there's any red/burning because the whole map is red.
Isn't it too early to already throw-in cosmetics? Hope its not cutting into any margins of developing actual game
This was something that was already in the founders bundle, so it's something they've had for a while.
showcasing what sort of cosmetic options the game will have on release matters to some people, I'm sure. And has 0 effect on those it doesn't matter to. Also cosmetic skin alterations wouldn't pull dev time away from actual game infrastructure development, you're just re-skinning something you already made work lol
This is like the chicken pet in the ultimate pack for supporters and does not impact the development
Since Stormgate is going to be free-2-play they're gonna fund the game through cosmetics and similar. So ofc it's and important and prioritized aspect for them.

The Fog of War cosmetic option is neat, though I like the soundtrack more thats used in the video. I hope THAT is included in the game.
It already is. Its the only soundtrack you can currently find on youtube in videos dedicated to just playing the song, search up infernal host theme and you should find two different videos for it.

wut. it's the fog of war. you can't see anything in these areas anyway, so having it look cool vs. normal has 0 effect on gameplay. Also, you can't just "turn off" fog of war lol.

I just thought it might obscure the visible radius from the fog of war. But I could be wrong of course.
In the video we didn't see how it clashes with vision.
@@Broockle fair point, I guess that is something that could be a concern depending on how they go about the skinning. I can't imagine the company that's so focused on making a great competitive game will let something like cosmetics have a negative impact on gameplay tho

Every RTS before just grays the fog of war out. I'm curious what it looks like when you uncover it.
Would be cool if there was some fluid dynamics as your unit's vision dispel the fog.

Should have territory shader or something similar where as players expand or wins battles their shader controls.more and more of the map. Sorta like creep or undead desication. Nothing better than my skin slowly consuming my enemies

It was a promised kickstarter bundle... You get the first campaign set, heroes, and some other stuff including the fog of war skin. Why would they not show it off?

Ok i like the concept of different war shaders, i would pick 1 different if its cool enought for me.
I could say that I have entered the scepticism stage, wonder why show a pure monetary scheme of the game rather than a system/mechanic that is new or improved upon from prior RTS experience.
I would say even for "marketing hype" another stuff could've been shown to drive hype higher.
They release those videos too. Why can’t they do both.

It says "included with early access pack". I'm sure there will be other ways to get it down the line

imma be honest, it's not as good as I hoped but that wont stop me from wasting 60$
in all other RTS I know it's just grayness in the fog of war. I think it's an upgrade no body knew they were missing. 😆

And you could prbly spend 60 bux to get a few of those.
In SC2 getting a set of skins for a whole race to use on the ladder was in the same ball park.

You'll always come across fog of war. And you will only put vision in fog of war if you have suspicion of there being something important. You don't need the whole map uncovered, that'd be an OCD habit if anything.

I already don't want to play because the microtransactions are forced too much. Please spend more time on faction design. I hate the celestial's design so much and the infernals are just ok.
