Just ordered mine 30 minutes ago. I have spent quite some time researching and kept coming back to this one specifically. Sounds so gorgeous and I am excited for its arrival. I can sit on my R1 and play a song for the full Yamaha experience.
Hi! I hope you are doing well :-) How does your guitar play nowdays? I'm trying to find best acoustic for under 1500 bucks and this Yamaha has really positive reviews.
Got my FG5 about three months ago. Online, backordered and for $1050 (delivered, no tax charged). I own about 15 guitars and the FG5 is one of the best. Very very smooth and responsive. Not boomy, not too many overtones. I think it’s a very good guitar - which should cost more - and may eventually.
I have paid for one at a local music store who says it will be arriving for me to pick up this Saturday. I think they are being too optimistic. I may be waiting awhile. I sure can't wait though. I have played an FG 441s almost exclusively since I bought it in 1996-97. It has always been a great guitar, but it has truly blossomed over the last few years. I'm excited to get the FGX5 so I can let this 441s, that has come to sound like a piano in its richness, out of the house to get work done on it. Frets, top crack etc. Yeah. I'll spend more than I payed for the guitar to get it fixed, but it is shockingly great. I';m just hoping the FGX5 can keep up :) I think I made the right choice.
It’s so very nice to see a beautiful crafted guitar show cased in the hands of the playing ability that is well matched that’s how a guitar is most justified by one complimenting the other and my friend you nailed it I have some practicing to do your a well relaxed gifted player I’ve seen professionals that don’t have that feel let me know if you have an instrumental Cd with much of the same guitar quietness going on love to have a copy .
Hi! Thank you for your demo. How Beautiful =). To arpeggiate, like you do, what strings do you recommend? The Elixir .012 that come with the guitar or do you recommend going down to .011 from another brand? Thank you! I'm waiting for my FGX5 and I have to wait 2 monthssssss =(((
I think they have an idé that you already have an opportunity with the Yamaha LL16 - which many CZcams comments suggest is totally comparable to a Martin D28.

What I meant is that maybe Yamaha thinks that they already covered the spruce/rosewood combination with the LL series and chose the mahogany for their Red Label series because 1. the haven’t done it before (expect the LLM) and 2. the mahogany is, generally speaking, more dry and midrange sounding and therefore more vintage appealing in many ears. And the vintage appeal is totally what they have gone for in the Red Labels.

Why did yamaha choose Mahogany back instead of Rosewood? martin D18 has mahogany while mart D28 has rosewood.
