    • @nolankuffner3573
      @nolankuffner3573 Před 3 lety +3

@@RyuHayabusa06 in that respect, I see it as he still knows how to swing his sword, it's more his adaptability that you're experiencing with his leveling up.
Which is why he's still not 'robust' like Dogi.
      Example:
A millipede is different from an ant and an ant is different from a mantis.
If one of those bugs attacked in a way that he wasn't expecting, it would make him look weaker.
But once you've gotten used to the controls, you'd be able to avoid every one of those attacks and strike faster.
Some people play Ys at a low level because they don't need to level much.
Some over level because their reaction time is slower.
Realistically, when you consider those differences in species, and that the story is written from a powerful weapon trumps brute strength perspective, it kinda makes sense.
Though, with the relics, I always assumed Adol just returned them to the native peoples.

    • @ShinkeiDEI

@@RyuHayabusa06 actually the series does address this, either because of losing his equipment or because of enemies that cannot be damaged with regular swords (Ark of Napishtim, Seven, Lacrimosa), but everyone knows and regards Adol as a master swordsman, in fact Aprilis does comment on his skill in IX.

I'm really glad that there are guys like you spreading how good of a game Ys is because honestly, this title is criminally underrated.. I'm honestly hoping for the day that Ys gets the worldwide attention, maybe then well get the AAA makeover it deserves.. for now, all we can do as a fan of the game is support Falcom and buy every Ys games to be released..

im in the final chapter now and its amazing, gameplay, story, music, speaking of music they should have made an option to change the battle and boss music to previous ys games for nostalgia, vacant interference from ys7 is still my favorite boss music.

For me I think in future games I'm really going to miss the "Gifts" in the next installment. Even just being able to run up walls was a game changer for this series. I also agree that even though it starts out with the impression of being a very "dark" game with the red moons, gothic style, and the Lemures in the Grimwald being a tad frightening at first, but this game really lightens up as you get to know the people and explore the world and as usual Adol brings everyone together and things become really lighthearted.

Never played Ys. But i remember hearing stories in the past about its difficulty. Plus over time it's grown. Always been the rpg underdog.
I totally relate with too much dialog / versus exploration.

It's because of you (and Game Sack) that I got into this series, buying every entry that I could. I don't really have the means to play older games, but if Falcom keeps porting the handheld versions to modern consoles, I'll scoop them up! Ys deserves it's success, and any version you can get now is so worth your time and money!

  • @Kwstr42

I loved this game but 8 still beats it on scope, feeling and depth of the story. Currently working on platinuming 9 now, about 60 hours in half way through new game plus nightmare run. I can get past graphics easily, it's not polished but I love story, characters and music in my games and Ys is one of my top 5 favorite franchises. I realized at the start that the city is smaller but there's more vertical access so I didn't think too much about it

I like how the game developers adopted the good things in YS VIII into YS IX. Though I would have loved to have more people for the Dandelion just like the survivors in YS VIII. But the story is so good and has been my favourite YS game so far! And the mechanics in beating the final boss was a pleasant surprise (instead of the usual button mashing)!
