One of the funniest things/moments he did was talk trash about the south and confederates for years. In so many cases. He said that the irish kicked their asses. Then on tour in Richmond (the confederate capital) he complained that there were no irish bars 😂 took molly at one of the only ones and wondered why people had a attitude. 😂😂 it made me laugh so hard. He never put the pieces together too 😂😂😂😂😂😂

And journalists of the time were basically the equivalent of modern day podcasters. Dark magic is clearly afoot in county cork”… thats basically what chris does for a living

@@notmyname9625 that is 100% on point!, didn't so called "yellow journalism"(named for the color of the paper) start in the 1890's? Hearst leading the start of totally sensational, very little research involved "news"...hmm, sounds shockingly familiar though!.

@@schiz0phren1c yes despite them both being highly celebrated historical figures in the journalistic world both hearst and pulitzer promoted the use of sensational headlines and low integrity journalism while competing with eachother. This was later coined yellow journalism but that wasnt anything new it was just one of the more notable times in modern history when it had been used to essentially fuel a war that had yet to be justified in the eyes of the general public. Yellow journalism still goes on today tho and its practices certainly didn’t start then. What i am referring to went on since before that term was even coined and isnt exactly the same. Newspapers in general were just far less reliable back then and folklore commonly made headlines in regions all across the world. Even moreso in ireland. You can actually find news articles from ireland about sea monsters and fairies that arent even all that old. Shit was just absolutely wild back then. Even the best journalism of the time was extremely unreliable by modern day standards. Even the actual history of the country is somewhat unclear due to the amount of folklore mixed in. Same is true for the whole uk.

WW1 was started after the assassination of the Hungarian heir to thrown, but more importantly, a war between 3 nations initially between three related monarches under a single family aunt (early military industrial complex, planned). WW1 ended and then the treated of Versailles, which destroyed the German civilian population into starvation, then a veteran of WW1 initially in prison (Adolf) got to writing and using the misery of the public to motivate Germany into violating the treaty and producing armaments banned under said treaty, then WW2... That humor can miss with some, for sure. Many comedians have a dark sense of humor, especially with each other, and human atrocities are just about the darkest parts of our history.
To find the comedy in it, especially in tragedy, you go the other way with it, you "lighten it up", like in "History of the World Pt. 1" with the Spanish Inquisition song & dance number. I don't think Shane's watering down horrible realities, he's just following what usually works comedically.
