  • Sawadee khap my farangutan friends and puan puan khun Thai! This weekend we were in Kanchanaburi, and, on our return, we noticed a new section of motorway was open and we decided to follow it.
It was the M81. Now, only the 50 km section from Tha Muang Road at highway 324 to Nakhon Pathum is currently open and there are no tolls at the moment. When the whole route is opened, you will have to pay a toll of 150 THB to travel the entire route. That is for a four wheeled vehicle. As there are currently no toll booths, it free for the partially opened section we used at the moment.
I confess that I didn't know anything about this motorway and so I did it a little research. It seems that the M81 will run from the Rattanathibet intersection from number 1 motorway in Nonthaburi's Bang Yai district to Kanchanaburi. The whole route will be 96 km when fully opened in 2025.
Nonthaburi to Kanchanaburi takes around two and a half hours at the moment. When the M81 is fully operational you can travel between these two points in just 50 minutes. As it is our journey was considerably shorter taking only 2 hours and 30 minutes from Kanchanaburi to home. That was using the M81 and using Google maps to find the quickest route.
Thank you for watching. Don't forget to leave a like, share and subscribe.
