    I've been itching to buy an actual copy of WQ 95 for months, but didn't wanna think about paying so much for it. This looks like a PERFECT series to subscribe to, for a fun alternative! Thanks!

      I felt the same way. It is just crazy how much people are willing to pay for a game that will most likely only be played a few times a year. So many modern games could be purchased at a fraction of the cost. Making my own copy is part of playing the game. It is providing me a ton of enjoyment and learning new skills.

      Really nice, though! Any chance to commission you in the future to do this with my custom expansion Board Sections? I could never do as good a job as you with such a project!

      @@WarhammerQuest Spoke to my buddy today and he is going to lend me some tiles so I am good. If you want some made I would be more than happy to make them. I would not charge you because you are keeping this game alive. I know you have a lot of custom boards so give me a list of your top 10 and I will get to work. I just picked up a gallon of PVA glue that should be enough lol

    Great video--has inspired me to give it a go! Would a strip of double-sided tape to hold the map and backing paper to the card, then do the sticky back clear cover cut out the glue step and issue with bowing? 🤔

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  Před 4 měsíci

      It would work but you might have to adjust the process. Make sure the tape goes around the edges of the image so it is held down good before cutting the board piece out. You don't have to put the black card stock on and save on that step. The clear cover will hold everything in place. It would get rid of the board bowing. Let me know if you try it and how it works out.

    Thanks for sharing all the info, looks very interesting. I am really into building/crafting old games ,I just wish I had time and fortitude to get motivated to work on stuff. I've just gotten so apathetic after bad covid infections, its screwed up my brain and neurological system. So fatigued and tired feeling all the time doesn't help.
    Great info on exact materials use and details on printing, that's the big crucial things are right materials and good printer. Which I need to invest in one.

      Thank you for the comment on the video. Yes covid took a lot away from many of us me included. I feel throwing myself in random projects like this one helped however we all are different and it might not work for you. I also got into book binding so I could make physical books of the games that are no longer in print. It is also a lot of fun and does not take make to get started. Find something small and just start doing it might help. I am not a doctor or anything just a person like you trying to move on after everything that has happened. Stay strong it will get better it just takes time.

    I enjoyed the tile making and the tips on which way the grain faces for book binding. It is always the tips and tricks that I admire most on crafting videos. Binding books has always been something I've wanted to try. I'm curious, what happens if you add heat to the cardboard after it bow's? Does that make the bow more severe or weaken the tile/binding in any way if you are trying to flatten it out?

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  Před rokem +1

      If you have an interest in book binding I will be providing a lot of tips and tricks in this series. I don't know how heat would work to flatten the cardboard. I would think it would dry to fast and cause it to curl more. If feel using the book press allows the glue to have time to get into the cardboard and really create the best bond possible. If you speed that process up with heat it could cause a weaker bound.

    • @HausofCraft
      @HausofCraft Před rokem +1

      @@solitaryrpg thanks! Yeah I don’t know much about it. I use to own a pizza food truck and some of the dough presses are heated to help the dough keep its round shape when you flat press them. It’s like a quick flash heat, only last 10-15 seconds. I was more talking about after the glue has already dried and been pressed, like if you want to take the slight warp out. Heat it and press it again. Anyway, my brain goes all over, I carried ADHD into my adulthood so please forgive me. I can be obsessive over things until I am done with them.

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  Před rokem +1

      @@HausofCraft I don't know if the heat would help or not. I know it helps with miniatures for board games when they are bent maybe the same for cardboard. I might have to mess around with this concept and see if it works.

      I have used glue sticks for other projects and they just don't hold up. I have even had problems with spray adhesive. I know the PVA glue works and I know how to work with it. I am sure there are other products on the market but I can get PVA glue from easier.

    Hi! Instead of using cardboard do you think that foamcore can be used as an alternative for the tiles? Thank you in advanced.

    • @solitaryrpg
      @solitaryrpg  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I never tried it but I am sure it would work. One thing to keep in mind, if you pick up the original doors they clip to the cardboard tiles. If you are using a different type of door than it should work just fine. You might consider a spray glue and not the PVA I used. Not sure if foamcore boards can take on that much moisture.
