I would not be drinking that because she is wearing her wedding ring and that holds so much bacteria as much as you wash your hands it doesn't make any sense why you would put your whole hand in there and your wedding rings in it and then feed it to your family. No
You know, that is a great point and one that I've never even considered about the wedding ring. Thank you for pointing that out. I do wear gloves when I make kombucha commercially or sell SCOBY's. From now on I will not be wearing my ring. I appreciate your comment.
@@Killertiger2000Not if you autoclave it first Edit: and make sure it's not made of anything that can react with liquids and sour things. A smooth gold ring should be fine if autoclaved first I think?

Hello, I have some scoby in a jar but a haven’t fed them like in 7 months but they look fine still with no mold or anything. Can I still use them or should I throw them away?
I would feed them first to see how they do. Add some sweet tea to the jar like a cup or two. If a new scoby grows on top then you are good to make a new batch of kombucha. 1. After yoi feed it give it at least a week 2. If the batch of kombucha doesn't taste good keep going by making another batch. The 2nd batch should get the kombucha back to normal.
@@jordanhuguenard8315 OH I see. I am selling my SCOBYs and try to keep them the same size. The ones on the plate were bigger and didn't fit nicely into the jar. I put those into a bigger jar not shown 😃
@@l0lY1000 if you take the jar out of the fridge and use it while they are dormant they won't work properly to complete the ferment. This can also cause mold. If you give the jar a week on the counter to wake back up you'd probably be fine but I can't guarantee and it would also depend on how long the jar was in fridge
I just watched a poor chicken being murdered before this and I am so scared for my own pet chickens 😢 how it is allowed on youtube is beyond me! I am happy to see a better video from this channel after to help clear my mind. Thank you! Keep spreading love ❤ with these nice videos.
The scoby is the round disk, called a pellicle + the kombucha liquid. You don't need the pellicle at all to brew a new batch of kombucha. Stop spreading misinformation
Thank you Zach. I have a video discussing this on my channel. The pellicle isn't required but it does make a difference in the brewing and i think it's important people make their own decision on if they want to use or not. The true SCOBY is the kombucha. Best wishes
Do you need to keep it cold? I always thought the hotels needed to be cold.
I just recently make kombucha, and thanks to your video, now I know how to make scobby hotel for my scobbys! Thank you🤍✨
👏 glad to be of assistance. Happy brewing.

Idk it’s unlikely that it will hurt anyone but at the same time it’s a poor practice

Every two months?!! That's super low maintenance. Why haven't I done this yet? 😅
What if I can’t find original in my store? Can I use a flavored one?
It should work. What brand? Your best bet is if you can find a local kombucha company. I'd avoid store brands like Aldi or Wegmans
OMG... Who thought up this
" Scoby Hotel" jargon ?
Kombucha has been around for centuries.
It's called a " Culture" .
Plain and simple.🙄🙄🙄
Whats it ?
do you have to put kombucha in the jar as well or sweet tea is enough?
When you start a batch you need to add kombucha and scoby to kick start the fermentation

Do they just stay on the counter
Yes or in a cupboard or cabinet
Aww poor scobies🥺
Can i use plastic spatulas or tongues? I don't want to dunk my hands in there (even clean).
Yes
Why did you separate certain Scobys?
Most just fell apart from each other as I shook them
@@KombuchaLiz I ment the ones you put on the plate

Do u keep the jar in the fridge or on the shelf?
Always on shelf. You want to keep it out of the fridge because colder temperature will make bacteria and yeast go dormant
@@KombuchaLiz thx so much ❤️
@@KombuchaLiz but sorry another question
What's wrong in keeping the bacteria dormant till i need to use the scoby again?
