Valve's crossed a line several yards back.
Several of these in-game issues have existed for years on end now, and most of the changes they've made has made things worse. Silencing and limiting F2P's did nothing. They effectively made the game paid like they did at launch. In 2007.
Valve is a game developer, but isn't acting like it at all. It's just sad at this point. And what's worse is that it's pretty much solely reliant on the Steam community. There will come a point where TF2 will be held up by no one. At all. The game is pretty much not functional anymore. The bots are only getting worse, and knowing Valve, it won't stop any time soon.
What the devs should do is avoid the demise of this game as much as possible. TF2 not dead yet, and we shouldn't experience witness that any time soon. But if Valve continues as is, we'll see it within the next year or so. The community is strong, yes, but it doesn't have the power behind the game that Valve does. Valve has what it needs to fix the game, but they won't, unless by some miracle they actually think a little, and get their head out of their rectum.
I love TF2. We all love TF2. If it's going to stick around, Valve should tend to it so that it continues. If they're working on other games and such, that's great. It's a given that TF2 is an aged game, and even though it'll turn 15 this October, the community will still exist for it. But if nothing's fixed, the line will go flat before we know it.

    • @SnivyTries

If right now someone were to cause all the community servers to go offline, TF2 would die. If people haven't played TF2, CS:GO, Dota, etc. before now because they didn't have a PC to run it, and now they buy this handheld PC. They need, to address the issues in TF2, and in all their games otherwise it'll show just how little they care about their games, and if they care that little about those products, what does that say for the new PC they're holding in their hands.

I loved TF2, it was my favorite relaxing game, and a great game to have fun, actively try to improve, and just in general enjoy. The community was mostly friendly; and overall, it was a fine community.
This was back in 2018... The Bots arrived in late 2019. After a year of this, I got sick of this... 2021, I finally got mad, and left. A year passed. I uninstalled TF2 somewhere in that time... 2022 finally rolled around, and I thought to myself 'hey, maybe they finally fixed it.' I reinstalled it, jumped online... and in 3 games, I realized it has not changed at all. "Well, just play on community servers" If this has to be the answer to bypass a clear problem in the game, the game is not worth my time, especially when community servers have their own share of major problems.
4 years. Sorry, what the f*ck is this? Why is Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 both being run so flawlessly, while TF2 is in the garbage can? What happens with TF2 is absolutely bizarre. It's a game with a lot of active players, that is still in the top 10 of most played games on Steam, being totally neglected and abandoned by its creators. Why? there are tons of developers that could only wish to get 50k returning players with the game they sweat over every single day, and here's Valve just chilling in the corner and pretending TF2 doesn't exist. Valve's behaviour concerning their games is not just unacceptable, it's idiotic. There's simply no other way to describe it. It's insane in a bad way. Everybody knows the behaviour is idiotic, everybody is calling Valve to action to "do something", but it doesn't have any effect. And you know why? Because Valve has Steam. They have literally not a single reason to do anything at all because Steam is going to keep them alive anyway. At this point I'm hoping that they get acquired by Microsoft or something, just so someone can put them to work. Don't get me wrong: I love the work that they do stick with. But I hate the piles of burning garbage that they leave behind because nobody wants to do it, because at the end of the day that's the problem. Nobody wants to work on TF2 other than fixing a few minor bugs.

I can't believe that a company who made great games from my childhood (e.g counter strike 1.6, L4D) is doing this greediness and despite their community being forgiving they are taking advantage of it just to be greedy.

I hope someone at Valve sees this and makes some kind of statement. Anything at all. Is anyone working on fixing the bots? Are they just letting the bots go wild in hopes that they won’t have to bother fishing some random hats and maps from the community workshop a whole three times a year? I just want to hear something about it, I just want a definite answer. It’s no longer “I hope we get a content update”, it’s now “I hope we are told that we will not be getting a content update”

Tf2 is my favorite multiplayer game of all time, it's been there for me since it's inception and it means so much to me. The amount of time and money that I have poured into this game is a lot to say the least, and I haven't played since like December because the state of casual is just almost unplayable. Amount of times you have to reroll to get a lobby without bots in it is unacceptable, I won't even lie I've been considering selling off my unusual collection because even though I love the game and I never want to part with some of these items that are very very meaningful to me I just cannot keep supporting or hold money in the game that doesn't treat its player base with even the basic respect of making that game playable
