- The factory permanent code is also stamped into the containing module whether it be the drivers door module, vehicle security module or most commonly the general electronic module/ Smart Junction Box.
In this video I show you how to do this basic task. The owners manual also describes the procedure but for those that have lost it or learn better with a visual I present this tutorial. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Video started saying, "If you can't remember your factory code, don't worry you can program a personal code". Change of scene to a computer screen. In order to create a personal code, you will need the factory code..." which you get get Ford to retrieve with a special diagnostic tool.
The codes are in the vehicle usally behind the fuse box on driver or passenger side and are the first 5 numbers below the bar code.
Code for 08-12 escape is under center console. Pull up console, it is on a sticker underneath towards the dash! Don't go to a dealership! They will rip u off!
I think what he meant was, if the factory code isn't easy to memorize?
It’s on sticker of the module if no where else
That just annoyed the hell out of me. If I had the factory code I wouldn't need the new code. I bought this car used and the dealership wants to charge me to get that code. Useless!!
2008 Ford Sport trac. Pull off the fuse box cover (long slender one, driver side under dash) and use a lighted mirror. On the back side of that fuse box about in the middle is a faint stamped in 5 digit code, that is what you need. I was able to take that code and use this video to set my custom code. Thanks Makuloco you saved the day , AGAIN!
I learned I can lock people out of their cars pressing the last two buttons on their door today. This is awesome
For anyone wondering, for a 2015 Expedition, the code is on a white sticker behind the fuse panel on passenger side floorboard. It will have 5 numbers followed by an L (e.g 12345L)
My 1987 Ford Taurus was equipped with the keyless entry system.
So was my 2005 Taurus. There was a sticker on inside of the trunk with the 5 digits.
I added a custom pin to the 87. This gave me 2 separate pins that worked. The factory supplied pin stays with the vehicle even after you add a custom one.
On a side note, technically, there are only 5 buttons on the pad. Two numbers share each button.
Example: A code 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 is the same as 2, 4, 6, 8, 0.
I got the code from Ford dealer on my 2020 Ford Escape. He and myself changed the factory code towards my own code shortly after on the touch screen for Apple Car play. It was so easy to do,too. I done it on my 2011 Mercury Milan and my 2015 Ford Escape shortly after getting them by myself before getting the 2020 Ford Escape. My parents had a 1988 Ford Taurus with that keypad and we did used the factory code on it. My father had it on the 2nd Ford Explorer that he gotten in 1998. I remembered the codes to unlocked the doors and even the trunk from the 1988 Ford Taurus. 3/4 for the other car doors and 5/6 towards the trunk of the car. I have a very good memory on simple things. I don’t remembered that code at all anymore.
Perfect timing man. Just yesterday I was wondering if I could add my own personal code. Thanks for the easy & quick tutorial.
On my 98 Grand Marquis it had the keypad number which was located inside the driver's door on the black box containing the security programming. I found this when I had to replace the door from an accident. You can swap boxes and it will work with another number. Entering the code and pressing 5 opened the trunk. You can leave the car running and lock and unlock the doors with the keypad. The funny thing I always liked and found out was I was able to leave the car running and use my key fob to lock and unlock the doors. Which everyone has been telling me it shouldn't do that. Good for warming up the vehicle in the winter or cooling it down in the summer. Mostly did it at home because I felt safe in my neighborhood doing it. When I first got the car, I like a dumbass left the keyfob attached to the key all the time. My first winter at work with it I was warming up the car and got out to deice the windows. The doors will automatically lock if you leave the car running for too long. I did not have the keypad code at the time. Had to have my dad bring his locksmith tools. Long story short I had my key fob attached to my belt separate after that. I only had one key and never lost it or did it again. Upon reading the owners manual you can unprogram the door locking feature through the keypad. Going from having two older model cars to the Marquis, I was unaware of these features. Sometimes the keypad code can be found on the hinge inside the trunk. I lost that vehicle and got a 2001 Ford Expedition XLT. Was not given the code. Looking around on CZcams I found it can be located under the dash on the drivers side. You have to lay on your back and look under to the left of the e brake. Code works. However this time around, the key in the ignition, I found out I could not use the keyfob to lock and unlock the doors. Practically useless if you locked the doors and don't have a spare or the keypad code. I did find you can press the last two numbers to lock the doors. The headlights flash. Come back and use the keypad code again and unlock while running. Use at your own risk. I rarely do this.
Thank you. I tried to program a personal code once with written instructions but couldn't. Watching this I had no problems.
I did that on my 2011 Mercury Milan, 2015 Ford Escape SE, and my current vehicle which is a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. Even my parents had that done on 3 or 4 of their vehicles. One of the vehicles that they used to have that now belongs to my sister is a 2013 Ford Edge. It is so easy to do in a newer vehicle these days. I only used the code that they gave me once. I changed it when I got the vehicle on the 2nd day. I put it in my 5 digit code. My sister could know about it,too.
Can you use this to lock/unlock doors while vehicle is running? Sometimes I don't want to turn truck off just to go in a store and would rather keep it running but locked.
Thanks, was looking this up and only ran into people that didn't know what they were talking about. Got it first try after watching this
Replaced all four door lock actuators and saw your video.. Thank you your video was easy to do and worked great .. Thanks again.. 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻
I would buy ford again just because this feature, I don't like carring my keys at the gym more likely just to loose them. Thanks for the tip you just save me 100 dollars.
Just a heads up.
If ur lights, the keyless entry lights, come on and stay on. Change the battery in ur key fob. It's the alert to tell u ur battery in ur fob is low. Its in the manual as well. Hope this helps someone. Ive had 2 fords. 2002 Explorer and 2013 Escape
Dude, this channel is amazing. Thank you so much!
I didn't have the factory code so I did a little bit on searching and found a 5 digit number sticker on the steering wheel column way up under the dash. Got that tip from the Ford Stealership.
Stealer??
Lol
Lol
Thanks!! Just found it small numbers in the back of the fuse box passenger side 2009 ford expedition
Thank you for this video!!!! All Ford dealerships will charge to hook up a computer or to take your center console out to find the code. I had my console removed in about a minute and had the code. I have the unlimited, and would suggest to anyone reading this comment, to be careful. I have the LED lights going to cup holders and so on... Watch for the wire that connects to the harness. It's easy to unplug, but can cause damage if it's left plugged in and the console is just lifted out. I used a rubber tipped flat head and the silver ring console pops right out. Thanks again for saving me a bunch of cash!!!
you are amazing!! THANKS A LOT!
This is real EASY than the other one I found that you got to remove the whole console box.
Thanks again!
great video. i have a 2005 ford Excursion 6.0 l. I got the code from the dealer and just now change it to my own code. this video is great!! mine last two buttons lock the doors but the rest of the buttons does not work the only way to unlock all the door is from inside of the door panne. thanks again
You don't have to pay a dealer to get original code,it's located on the module on a white label with original code on label with the 5 numbers.Located in fuse box on passanger side foot mat.
You do if you can't get into the truck at all to even look..
Thanks for the heads up on the keypad programming video. I have locked my keys in the car before, and had to call a locksmith to get it open. That was NOT cheap..!
Wow! Never knew. Very helpful. Thank you.
Tank you for your help, I will give it a try. I just want to tell you that I've watched a bunch of your videos and you have helped me learn a lot of valuable information as well as save me some money. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this. I'm sure everyone else does too.
If you watch these videos you waste money lol idiots. It cost 100 bucks too get ford to retrieve the code for you when you can get it for free by removing the fuse pannel and 2 bolts lolol
@marco-fi6gv you damn clown 🤡
on my 2010 Edge the door code is printed on the inside of the fuse compartment cover in the driver-side footwell.
Awesome! Thank you. Love all your informative videos. Hope you are well!
Hello Jeff, what diagnostic program did you use thx for answer best regards from Poland
@@jaceklagodzinski8075 added a new door code with number my mom could remember. Is that your question?
Who else came here to keep other people from getting into your car just to find out it doesn’t work to keep them out lol
This worked for my 2014 Ford Escape. The 5-6 didn't open my lift gate though. No biggie. Thank you sir!
I just hit the 5 after my code and mine works
2009 Milan og code was at the top of the Fuse panel on a sticker. The fuse panel is located on driver side kick panel. 5 digits at the bottom right of the tag itself.
Thank you very much, the Ford dealership did not explain any of that.
Mine was under the door panel on the module and super easy to find and read.
Each episode of FordTechMakuloco starts like a Game of Thrones episode... :) Nice Music
Haha it did seem familiar, but l couldn't put my finger on it.
The code is in the vehicle, passenger side under the glove box. You don't have to take it anywhere for anything.
It varies with model and even year of the same model so no.
I did changed the code on a 2011 Mercury Milan and even a 2015 Ford Escape. These 2 vehicles that I used to have. My current vehicle that I changed the code at the dealership. It was easy to do. Even my sister’s 2013 Ford Edge as an easy code to remembered and her vehicle was my mother’s. I won’t say anything or typed in the codes. It is personal and private.
Great video, quick and to the point. As dumb as I am, even I could reprogram my code!! ha ha....thanks a lot.
Thank you so much. Now all I need is a mask and find myself nice looking car
lol
No mask Required and you need a WAD OF CASH!!! LOL
Thx I looked at the manual and it wasn’t working but when I watched your vid it worked lol
What if your keys were locked in the car and you don’t have factory code?
Wendi Perkins use your spare key
Wendi Perkins you call the locksmith
I went to Home Depot and they cut me a spare key but, since it doesn't have the microchip in it, i can open my doors but, not start the car. Put it in a magnetic holder and stash it where its easy for you to find on the car.
QUICK NOTE! if you have a ford expedition the original code is printed on the key code module. if you look to the left of your break peddle and up you will see the module. it has the original code printed on it. Hope i saved you some time!
Yeah each vehicle and generation are different and some don’t have them printed at all.
LEARN HOW TO
SPELL THE WORD…….
B R A K E P E D A L!!!
I found mine inside the box where the fuse panel is....take off the cover, if it has one, and look inside that box. It's a tight fit, but it's under th steering column. There's a white sticker with 5 numbers. That is your keypad code. WALAH! EASY AND FREE!!!!
I think push the last number twice for all the doors too. At least the old ones. Enter code plus the last number twice
Thank God there was a video haha my key lock got ice in it (fixing it after work) I couldn't remember how to lock it only unlock it
I just put my first key in the ignition, turned it to the on position, turned it off then removed the key and put my second key in and turned it to the on position and read the code on the dash display. I have a 2014 F150. Took 15 seconds.
DOES NOT WORK ON THE OLDER MODELS!!!
@@jkracinginc.4021 So i just tried it on my 2010 F150 with the two key switch and it did not work.
You can find the code if you have both keys. Put first key in turn on but don't start. Wait 4 seconds then turn off put 2nd key in for another 4 seconds code will show up on display. I would like to take credit for this but saw it on another video. I was able to set code with your video. Thanks
I just tried this on my F150 2010 and nothing, it did not work.
Not sure about your year model. I have a 2014 F250. I was able to retrieve the factory door code and set a new person code. The ford shop want some where are $200 i think to tell me my code.
Anyway good luck
Just look behind the panels inside...the removable ones, or look for a white box located straight up from the brake pedal.
The location is different for each model, year and generation.
Love the videos especially the ones on the 5.4
Thank you so much for your info. You helped me figure it out. God bless brother.
woww thanks. i was trying to figure out how to unlock and open the trunk on my 93 mercury cougar. i had to type the code and press 5-6. for years, it would randomly open the trunk once a while when coding and i was always like 'what the hell'. now today i found your video because i was just too lazy to put the key in the ignition and press button trunk release. thanks mannn.
That was easy. I didn't have a key fob, so I just locked it and then did what the sequence says. Now my new number is, oh never mind...NSA might see.
lol
You can also get the code from under by the brakes on the white box there’s a sticker
If you had to both set of keys just put the first key in first do not turn over the car engine leave the key in 4 second and put the second key in the exact same way and your code will pop up on your dashboard. This works on 2007 Ford's and up. Check out CZcams videos on your problem before you go to any dealer.
We had an 86 Tempo. We could do something with the key in the ignition and motor off. Switch key back and forth to receive codes for engine problems.
Don't remember exactly how it worked. I think it was a series of a dash light flashes.
Something like Morse code. Weird!
Find the RAP panel. The code is listed on a white sticker behind that panel. I just found mine. 2014 F-150 was on the front passenger side floor board on the RT.
Yep
All i could see was a five digit "date code".
Thanks this was really helpful
If u have a Crown Vic, check the inner trunk lid for a sticker with your 5 digit code.
I notice that some newer Ford model have the key pads why not have a keyless systems without the key pad. Like the ones I'm used to like on VW models to lock the car put your thumb on the handle and when you want to open the doors just put you're hand one the handle and then the door opens seems that Ford was one of the first to come with a keyless system back when there was no other way to do it.
New Fords do have this feature but again only works when the key is near.
Great video saved me 150.00.
Hello.I have a 2002 Ford Explorer AWD & found a 5 digit code on side panel by seatbelt area but it’s not working the module is made by SIEMENS what do you think it’s wrong. Thanks
My truck did not come with the keypad to unlock my truck. I checked in the door and the wiring harness was there to install one. I purchased one from the dealer. I have the original card code. How do I program a personal code? I tried the factory code but it did not work? Help!
How did they charge to look up the code? I went to my 'ford dealership' and they wanted to charge me $400 an hour and said it might take up to 5 hours!
Succinct description. I am about to try this but, when you say, "Press 1, 2" it sounds like you want two presses, a one and a two. What you did was press the button labled [1 2] once. Other videos talking about this do the same thing. When we press the [1 2] button twice we get a wrong digit as the first digit and our code doesn't work.
Worked great for my 2010 Expedition! thank you!!
how do you input a 2,4,6,8, or 0? my code contains some of those and I cant get it to work.
It's the same as pressing a 1,3,5,7,9
My entry code might've been reset, so how do I go about changing it myself now? I have the factory code, but it's not working. Thanks
If you have the factory code and even that is not working your keypad may be faulty we have seen this before from water.
And if the water did it how you fixed
Antonio Elias WITH A NEW KEYPAD
My buttons don't work or light up anymore fuse issues or disconnect the battery????
The factory code is on the module inside the door panel.
No need to spend $80 at the dealership.
The location varies with model and year.
Not all cats. 2001 Ford excursion don't. I had to use the forscan tool to get it off the module.
Thank you
Thanks your tutorial helped me out a lot thanks so much
no need to go to any dealer or shop to find out the default pin # its located in the passager side kick panel on the back side of bcm there a sticker the code is on it
gearheadek9 Yes as stated in the description
Not in F150 04-08, it's behind back seat.
04-08 F150 100% behind back seat
We purchased a used pcm with no keys included and installed it to the vehicle but when key is inserted security light blinks 1 blink and 3 blinks and it won't crank. Do we have to return the pcm or do we have to marry it to the bcm then we can program a new key?
+Caballes Caballes you must program the pcm to the vehicle and to the IC
FordTechMakuloco Thank you so much.
FordTechMakuloco is this the same pcm part number. The used part number is 3L1A-12A650-ABA and original one is 3L1A-12A650-KD? It this part number are not the same will it not work? Thanks for your help.
I would marry the pcm to the bcm so they will have a baby tcm that will supply power to the rcm so you can sit behind the steering wheel and adjust the scm do you can safely drivecm.
I couldn't remember my code ....i asked my daughter and she gave it to me from memory...lol
The code is located on passenger side floor panel on sticker on black box
It is a different location for each model and year.
Finally i can get in my trunk
Does the keycode work to unlock lock the vehicle in a 2011 Ford Expedition if you have the keys in the ignition and the engine running?
Forrest Gump
NO IT DOES NOT!!
I found my master code under the center console on a bar code that was on a ECM (I believe) that said fomoco it was the last 5 digits of the bar code on it. Of coarse I had to remove the center console was not that hard to do . Source: Ford escape 2011 2.4 liter
Thanks man you helped me very much
Let me know how to locate where my spare key is now. I cant seem to find that thing anywhere.
I'd like to thank you for your useful videos
I can't erase my personal code I do all the steps one by one but it's won't erased how I can do it
Great videos! I reference them constantly when working on my wife's 2013 Escape. Have you ever replaced a keypad in this generation of escape?
My mom bought a 08 Taurus X sell from a used car lot and she don’t have the card with the code. I know some where hidden in the vehicle is a tag or sticker with the code. Could you please help me find that code. Thank you and I appreciate your videos very professional and methodical
Does the "Factory Code" change if the Computer is changed out?
+Kat Craig it goes with the controlling module yes
2012 ford escapes in under the center counsel
Any code input in the pad will unlock the door... literally any combination of numbers. Over tried erasing the codes but nothing works. Any ideas?
Great tips
04 f250. Key pad with replaceable battery. Any way to test if bad other than not working even with new battery???? Key fob works great.
I have this keypad on my 1996 Mark VIII. After the car sits for 30 minutes or so, you cannot use the keypad to unlock the car. It's like it has gone to sleep. If you unlock the door with the key, and turn the ignition on or the headlights, it powers up again. Have you any suggestions on why it does this?
I have a 2001 ford windstar lost the card years ago
Where can I find the code on my van
I have an '80 T-Bird, and when the keypad is hooked up, none of the locking/illuminating features work. If I disconnect the keypad, the automatic door locks work from the interior arm rest. Are any of the later model illuminated entry/keyless locking modules compatible with this car? Or do you know of a source for a new module?
Hello, I have a 2010 Ford Explorer it has the entry code, i can lock the car with the Code but I can’t unlock it . Am I doing something wrong!?
Great tips to know, thanks! But I just found out that repeatingly pressing the one button unlocks my door no matter what my key code is anybody have any idea why that is? Somewhat of a security risk
Previous owner probably used a customized code like
12121, 11111, 22222, 11222. Random 1 and 2 will have the same result. Same button.
Program a new code of your own.
or you can just look under your passanger door kick panel and there will be a sticker there with the code on it
Every Ford model and year is different. Some are on the SJB others are on the VSM and yet others it is found on the DSM. So no one good answer plus some models they do not print a label.
Thank you so much
So I have ford transit 250
2017
How can I setup my Keypad?
I have a question why do fords has a password locker?
Worked great thank you!!
Tried it on my 99. Nothing. And where would I get a new module?
Or you can find code on module behind fuse box under dash
How can you get in without having mechanical key and no FOB ??
That's unfortunate. I have someone that knows my code and they've become a safety concern now.
What if you dnt hv the card w/the code, how do you program it then? I just bought a 2005 Eddie Bauer & I would like to program mine, any suggestions?
Or don’t waste money and just look on the fuse box.. it’s pretty simple. Has the code on a sticker. All are required. The cars for ford have the on the drivers side up under the steering wheel on a sticker as well 😂
When I did this in ids with a 2018 Ford Edge it said that the vehicle did not support this function and to look on the back of the module for the code. Did they do this with all of the new fords?
great info ! thanks
