    Thank you so much for taking time to help educate those of us, who don’t know much about nutrition for pets, to feel more confident in purchasing a better option and/or make better decisions.
    I have a small dog (Jack Russell/Shih Tzu mix) and she is a very picky eater. It started as she reached adulthood, about 2 months after her first heat. I was going to wait to change her diet from puppy food to adult food in her 11th month but at 9 months she stopped eating. She was on science diet puppy and rejected all flavors of their adult food. It has been hit or miss with her. I finally tried Unkibble, and she is actually liking it (it has only been a couple weeks), but I didn’t find your channel before trying it. Could you do a review on Unkibble Chicken and Beef flavors?
    Again, thank you for helping to educate those of us who would be lost without this information.
    Nancy

    Very thorough and informative. I let BalanceIt build a recipe for my cats. All four suggestions contain grains, one includes corn. It also says to use chicken or turkey breast. White meat has 18 mg of taurine per 100 grams of meat. Dark meat has up to 200 mg of taurine per 100 g. I guess it's fine for dogs. I use a cat only company, TC Feline for a supplement. I like your earrings.

    Why does a dog need rice? Its a carb and that is not in a species specific. Where are the organs like liver, heart, gizzards, green tripe, fish like mackerel, sardines and salmon, oysters, kidneys, etc. By omitting them you leave out many of the minerals,vitamins and essential fatty acids they require. I think Dr. Becker has some good information for all.

    Thank you for putting this together. For my 45lb dog, the recipe indicates how many daily calories are needed, but it does not indicate how many meals per day nor the measurement amount needed per meal. Any suggestions?

    • @AnimalDocRea
      @AnimalDocRea  Před 3 měsíci

      You need to click see nutrient profile and it has the caloric break down. I believe one recipe is one days requirement. You separate into however many meals per day, but you probably should contact customer support to clarify just in case.

    My dog "9 lb." Toy poodle has a yeast infection, our vet. gave me your website. She feels that chicken is the cause of yeast infections, what do you suggest?

    • @AnimalDocRea

      Wow, I'm flattered that a colleague would recommend you to me. I think that if you are considering a home cooked diet , then balancit.com is an awesome tool to help you do that properly. Be sure to get the supplement pack they suggest at the end of formulation because otherwise your diet might be deficient. Otherwise, with food allergies, I most often recommend a prescription or hydrolyzed diet (your vet will have to facilitate the prescription for these). I also have a few insect protein and vegetarian options that are OTC you may consider in the foods scoring 7+ playlist that may fit your vet's recommendations of avoiding chicken.

    The site was not for dogs over 100 lbs as I tried to build a recipe. Do you have a segment on giant dogs?

      Maybe try emailing them, I wasn’t aware there was a weight limit.

    I started using it but it seems its alot of carbs. Do you think its alot of carbs?

    • @AnimalDocRea
      @AnimalDocRea  Před 7 měsíci

      Carbs are an energy source so yes, it will balance the carbs.

      What's your opinion on dogs eating quinoa and millet? Mine is intolerant to riice. I did a food intolerance test called 5 strands. Very informative. Have you heard of it? Now I know what ingredients to use

    • @AnimalDocRea
      @AnimalDocRea  Před 7 měsíci

      1. Those food allergy tests are very inaccurate and veterinarians don’t use them for diagnosis or management of any food allergy. Unfortunately they are a scam. I would not rely or base any treatment plan on the result regardless of the company. 2. It sounds like you have an interest in nutrition that is beyond the scope of understanding food labels so I recommend you read through the small animal text linked in the description And consider seeing a board certified veterinary nutritionist/internist to formulate a home cooked diet to your specific needs.

    • @GelliSolo
      @GelliSolo Před 7 měsíci

      It's not an allergy test. It's a food intolerance test. So far it has helped. When I give her food she has intolerances to she gets itchy or coughs alot. Including dog food. It's an intolerance test they also use for humans.

      But I will definitely contact a vet nutritionist! My girl has such a sensitive stomach. I always tell her she is high maintenance. 😊

      There is an option to build your own recipe and with that you can do protein, fat, carbs, veggies, and fruit. You first need to click select ingredient.
