I don't think it's about the posers but about the perspective some people have on their own mental problems. There are some people who internally reject treatment because they got so used to their illness they identify it as their only identity. So they have this idea like «I don't really want to get cured if that means I will change my way of being». Like we really need our pain to be completely who we are, we can't imagine feeling well.

i understand this because while i am ahout to start counseling for my anxiety and depression, it also is why i am who i am.
i can't go back and erase my past anxiety attacks and self harm, and nights spent crying myself to sleep, but i can get help to cope better. i wouldnt trade my anxiety and depression for normalicy because it is part of me and it has led me to where i am.
i cant go change what ive done in the past, but i can help what happens next.

My story with this song: I was on CZcams on my Wii U going through the rest of IFH songs, and the Internet decided to be bullcrap, so I just went back to Home on YT, and then I saw this song, and I was thinking "YOU'RE NOT SERIOUS". I clicked on the video and listened to only the first few seconds, and thought it was kind of weird (because of the voice). I decided to instead listen to it on my phone in my room, because there's better Wi-Fi in my room. I listened to the whole thing, then awkwardly talked to myself about how amazing it was, then pressed the replay button. I've memorized the chorus already.

Depression traps a lot of people and they sort of lose their identity because of their constant sadness, and are too afraid to change because they've become too accustomed to being sad all of the time. Thank you for writing this music and being a constant source of comfort for me ever since I became a fan. You've helped me tremendously and I'm so proud of how far you guys have come. I love you both and I'm very excited to see what else you come out with.
4 years ago today, I was online and saw a music video with the title "Get Well". That song allowed me grow as a person and I became an instant fan of Icon for Hire. After taking a break from listening to this band, I came back today to show my gratitude for the anniversary of listening to Get Well. In shock, I saw "Get Well II" and listened.......Thank you, Icon for Fire, for making me realize why I loved you in the first place. Your honest lyrics, your strength, your vulnerability, your vision, your talent has made me stronger throughout the years, you've molded me into someone who's proud and honest.

The message so fucking on point with my life. I have moments where I think I've overcome all the struggles of my past and then they rear their ugly heads and I let it consume me again. I spew positivity and the ol' "It gets better, it won't last forever" line but oftentimes, I contradict myself.
The trick is to not let it become who you are, to not let it imprison you. Too many of us let our depression/anxiety whatever mental illness we may have, consume us and control our lives. We get too comfortable and although we might not admit it to ourselves, we don't really want to change, we don't want to try.
You gotta put your foot down and say "No, I will not let this be who I am, I will fight, every day, and I will not back down, I will Live, I choose Life"

I remember this album coming out at a really difficult point in my life. I was trying to get better, but I couldn't get past my traumas and the thought of actually getting better was intimidating to me. It was around this time, with the help of this album and some SERIOUS introspection, that I finally accepted that some part of me had grown comfortable being so miserable, it didn't want to get better, and that I was scared to get better because I didn't know what that would entail. Little did I know this is actually very common. I'm still recovering, but it gets better. Keep fighting.
