Beautiful dogs. My Basenji, Vedder, would run to the window and look outside when I asked if he wanted to go out. If it was raining he’d run to the bedroom, if it wasn’t he’d go to the front door. They’re so smart

I don't think I have ever seen a neater, cleaner house. I'm not sure how you achieve it.
Had the same issue and solved this problem by getting a raincoat for my basenji. He quickly understood that the walk is much more enjoyable with some protection on. Now we are having walkies in the rain without any trouble :)

Oh myy the rain is putting a damper on venturing outdoors. I love the “Cat Mode: On” that’s totally relatable. 😃 aww the licks after coming from outside… sibling love. 😘 They both were so well behaved and earned those delicious treats. Woof! 🫶🏻💋
It can definitely be a challenge walking them in the rain, but they both did very well that day. 😁

My Basenji hated rain and would try to run towards neighbor’s doorways! 🤣🤣
I've lived in North Carolina with Basenjis for over a decade and have managed to walk all of them in rain and approaching hurricanes, tropical storms. I even taught a current female during her first year and half to take herself out to pee in pooring rain but that took allot of work. Glad you guys took this vid wonderful to see your pac. Oh yes dry each other off...

Our Basenji hated rain so much that on rainy days he would stop drinking water. We thought it was a coincidence, but after a few years of that behavior, we had to admit that he did it on purpose. The next Basenji wouldn't even go out on our screened porch if it was raining. Nothing could convince him that it wasn't wet out there! If we made him go out, he would just stand bleakly and refuse to do anything.

They are brilliant.... THEY would also point out you have an umbrella and they don't even have a hat.... we put a water proof jacket on him with a harness, he doesn't mind it all, but would never go into the garden (yard) on his own in the rain.
Yeah, we really need to try some raincoats on them. 😊
I had to potty train mine bc he does not do rain people. Now i gotta teach him to flush.

My basenji mix will never walk while it's raining. While other dogs I've owned don't care if it's raining.
I thought the leash harness went with to leash on top. Mine looks a little different though
We put them on the front because it discourages pulling.
There was a couple that came to our dog park that had Basenji’s. Dede and Lobo. Both were nice dogs until Dede got to about 2 years old when she started becoming aggressive to other dogs. At that point they stopped coming to the dog park. I miss them both. Is that a common occurrence with the females? I’ve had 7 Keeshonds and none of them liked walking in the rain,even though water rarely got through that heavy coat.
I don't think it's any particular gender that tends toward aggression. I'm sure there are many factors involved, but Basenji's can be tough to deal with at dog parks. They're quite a strong-willed dog.
@@BasenjiAdventures I was just in love with these two Basenjis. Sweet natured,of course I’d known them for years so we were park buddies and once they had some time to wind down som of that Basenji energy they both would come over and want attention.
@fw1421 That sounds just like a Basenji. Burn off all the chaotic energy and then they're ready for cuddles and lots of attention. 😊

Why don’t you give him umbrella?
We have tried to stay next to them to keep them under our umbrella, but they don’t stay right next to us so we can’t keep them dry.
My Tibetan Spaniels don’t like rain either
