The Huawei Matepad pro and m-pencil isn't the best android tablet to draw on. Not by a long shot. And it's not just that it can't access the Google App store or any google or popular apps like Facebook or Instagram.

I do not know what kind if version you got or if you got a faulty unit because my experience was totally diferent. I compared it to my Ipad Air 2019 (third generation).
1. I found the overall built quality of the tablet very good and I could say it is on par with the Ipad. I like the matepad pro more because it has a larger screen and here comes the advantage of the thin bezzels, it is significantly smaller than the Ipad air 3.
2. The screen: yes, I also noticed the dark corners, but I do not give them so much importance, believe me they are more subtle than what you see on the video (if you are thinking about buying one you should see it in a store and decide for yourself).
3. Screen brightness and resolution: better on the matepad pro, but not by much(watching videos on youtube is waaaay better on the matepad because of the resolution, even if on paper there is not so much difference)
Colors: depends, most of the people I asked said that the Ipad is better, I personally prefer the colors on the Matepad Pro. Anyway, given the fact that 3 out 3 people I asked said the Ipad colors are nicer tot the eyes this is a win for Apple
4. Apps: you can get almost every android app with Phone Clone, Appgalerry, Moreapps and Apkpure
Yes, the overall drawing experience is better on the IOS if we are talking about apps.
One thing I noticed: I do not know why people are saying the apps are better optimised on the Ipad. I cannot use instagram on the Ipad because of the black bars, on the Matepad the application is optimized for a tablet.
5. Netflix: at the moment every Huawei devices runs netflix in SD because of the lack of GMS. I hope they somehow fix it in the near future because it is a turnoff for many people
6. Pen: both are good for writing, with the Ipad slightly better. Buuut, when it comes to drawing the Air 3 is way better, I can say this without any hesitstion (the apple is just better and it has many professional apps for drawing). I must say I'm not a person who draws at all, but I gave the tablets to a person who does and even I could see the difference.
The M pencil feels better in hand and it has wireless charging and you can connect it magnetical to the tablet. The first apple pencil is a pain when it comes to charging.
One more thing, I write more on the Matepad with the Nebo preinstalled app and I convert all my writings into plain text and it works like a charm, even if I do not write in english.
7. OS: I like the Huawei OS, I had no freezes and it is slightly faster (did some speed tests), but not something you would notice in day to day use.
I like that on the Matepad I have a reading mode which is much more confortable than any reading I did on the Ipad (I tried even to turn all the colors into black and white but at reading the Matepad is just better, especially given the fact that it is smaller)
I do not know what inconvenience you had with the App permissions because I wasked for many more permissions than on my daily android phone, which I like because they are more transparent.
I would say that the Matepad has a more intuitive OS if you never owned an IOS device. BUT, the Ipad is just better because of the diversity of the apps (even tho I encountered many bugs on the IpadOS, but I guess the time will tell which is better)
8. Speakers: by far the four speakers on the Matepad are better
9.Price: The Matepad, at least in my country, is 600$ now (bought it refurbished for around 475) and the M pencil is 70$ (bought it for 50$). The Ipad Air is almost 650$ (bought it refurbished for the same price as the Matepad, 475$) and the apple pencil is 130$ (bought it on a sale for 90$). If you don't have any apple device the Ipad Air 3 is a lot more expresive given the fact that the accesories are more expensive (example: for the Ipad you really need a fast charging brick because the charging time is a pain with the basic charger, which is another 50$)
9. Conclusion: I think that the correct comparison is not with the Ipad Pro, which many youtubers do because it is clear that the Pro is far better, but is Also very expensive. The correct comparison is with the Ipad Air 3, so...
If you want a device that you will use for writing documents, travel, watching youtube, ocasional drawing and you want to save some money you should go with the Matepad Pro.
If you want to feel safe about the apps, future support, you care about drawing, you watch netflix and you do not mind spending a bit more on a device that on paper is inferior you should go with the Ipad. If you are already in the apple ecosystem the answear is a lot easier, Ipad all the way.
I think that Huawei did an amazing job with this tablet and they a good future ahead of them even withour Google.
Feel free to ask me any question!
Might as well as consider yourself starting to be a vlogger because your informations and reviews are a way better than this guy in this video talking bullshit like pretty lil dark subtle shades around the screen of the tablet. Lmao, anyways love your input.
Thanks bro. Definitely better than this biased video
I think the guy has some kind of bias
Thanks guys, I will consider doing some reviews with video footage! Feel free to ask any question, I would be glad to help you ^^
Does all side loaded apps work well on huawei? And which one is better between matepad 10.4 and tab s6 lite Without gms Consideration. Sorry for my bad english
the line quality was kiling me, definitely not for making art 😬
It's a spy device, it's only good for spying lol

I wish I had one. As long as I can draw and animate with it, then I'm gonna love using it haha
Ya, same thought here bro
One reason not to get it: _jitter_
Saaaaame
get a galaxy tab. try s6 lite if on a budget. invest on s7+ if you have the means. comes with clip studio for 6 months free.
Passerbye. Ipad air 4 or tab s7+. Please help me.
I'm in the Huawei ecosystem right now, I got the phone, tablet, watch, even the laptop,,,, and I don't see any problems at all except the limited access to Google,, but again not so much of a big deal....
What laptop are you using? Does it have backlight bleeding?
So am I. I'm obsessed with their products... I'll probably never change brands now. Except if murica decide to completely annihilate China, I think I should be fine.
@@beatriceladouce965 never say you'll never change brands mate,,, NEVER! 😂😂😂👍
The Tab S7 is coming! Brad ordered it....he told in Discord.
For those who are excited
Wow, I'm really really excited!
I didn't know that there was a Tab S7 already, hope the tab S6 gets cheaper sooner then
please respond does brad have a discord?
Where's this discord everyone keeps talking about?

Their smartphones are pretty great but honestly when it comes to tablets
I expected this outcome
With the keyboard it is much bettet
Come on it's Android and you can install whatever you want even for a less tech-savvy person.
I had this thought as well.
Its not android
@@pavelkraev2015 Yes, it’s android, it just doesn’t have the Google Play store. You could still hunt down the apks and manually install them.
Its not that easy, some app cant work without gms
Believe me. The average person 100% cannot do it themself. I have to work with people on a daily basis and explain the most basic aspects of Windows, something they have worked with for literally a decade and they still dont understand many fundamental functions. If its not in the play store for easy access then they would not be able to install what they need. The average consumer doesnt know jacksh*t and honestly wouldnt even know about other sources and or where to look for them. I would NOT buy this android tablet for anyone. Buy any other, that can use the goodle play store, its way easier that way. (Unless you know what you want and where to find the apps you want to install, even without the playstore)
The best tablets to buy currently is Wacom, Huion, iPad & Samsung
Dont forget about Xp-pen
Pretty much, yeah. Samsung has that CSP support going on, wacom is, well, WACOM. It’s pretty much the top tier pen tablet company. xp-pen and huion just keeps getting better and better. One of them already has an AIO pen display. And the ipad is still dominating the mobile pro artist scene (with procreate/csp/sketchbook mainly).
Have to say I've enjoyed using the ipad out of all of these. Had a wacom intuos, still use it every now and then, have the pc work horse xp pen artist 13.3 pro, and then my on the go/too lazy to sit at a desk, ipad 11" pro gen 2. You'd think going from 13.3 inches to 11 is eugh but actually with procreate being so streamlined and user friendly it's almost the same working space as on the 13.3 pro, since a lot of the software takes up your canvas space leaving you with a smaller drawing area.

What about Gaomon?
Can i ask what app you used for your digital drawing just like in your video??
Hi Brad,
Did you try getting the apk with apk extractor from your other devices ?
I did this to get CSP on my duo, maybe it could work here ?
Anyway, thanks for your review :)
I do have this tablet and I got play store and Google service that I side loaded and had no problems so far
Teach me how to load them up. Or share link how... Im having a hard time
how do you got play store?
@@shazafadhilah4663 I follow Thetechguy on CZcams and he has a video that shows you how to sideload Google services
@@JoaNLizL follow thetechguy on CZcams he got a video on how to do it .
Me too it is great!!! i'm glad i did not buy ipad. Huawei way better!!!
What applications do you use to draw and color in the video
Was just looking into Android tablets now that CSP is on Galaxy tab/smartphones. (Still hoping that's just testing the waters for further Android support.) Thank you for this!
On another note, do you (or just anyone reading this) have any recommendations for the best universal Android stylus?
What animation app do you suggest for an s6 lite? And Krita is laggy. Please answer
you can download apps through Chrome and such on Android, would that work with the tablet?
What do u do with all the tabs u buy for the reviews ?
Hi Brad! Do you think that Samsung Galaxy S6 lite is better than Huawei Matepad (pro)? I'm choosing between these two and still not sure what is better for drawing
I have one & have all the apps I would need from a Google supported device. The absence of the Play Store is not a deal breaker if you know your way around the Huawei environment. There are also a lot of good features which were missed out from this review such as the desktop mode & dependable battery life. For me, it couldr replace an iPad & a laptop.
Yeah, and that politics deal from US Government about Google and Huawei, I think didn't work, or at least here in my country Perú, heard a lot about that, so hard that even a restaurant offered a temporary discount to every customer who had a Huawei smartphone hahahah 😆 but soon the news said that that politic wouldn't run so, it's okay, I have a Huawei I bought in China and nowadays I can use the Google Play store and else, but heard recently that the new phones have something different about it, that they don't have access to Play store though but I'm not sure. Anyway I just want to use this new Huawei tablet for drawing in Clip Studio Paint and I download it from the web, I don't need direct access to everything, I use the web in Google Chrome or even another one to search for Facebook and else, I only have CZcams as an app and some other ones.
a question what is the name of the application that he uses?

Ok! That was a bit harsh, especially as a "Brad's review".
what app u use for drawing on video
hey, are there any near at&t or bestbuy store near you? I heard that they have the surface duo in display, it would be nice to have your review before i pull the trigger.
What is the app that you use to draw? Sorry for my English it isn't my first language
I just got my Huawei Matepad Pro 2 weeks ago, after a days of using the M-pen for my drawings. What happened is sometimes it lost connection and it lagged most of the time. 3 times I experience that it's hard to connect to my Matepad itself. Maybe this M-pen is meant to take down notes only not for continues using.
Any high end stylus pen that will work on my Huawei Matepad Pro you can recommend? Thanks.
Been waiting for this for a loooong time. great video Brad!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Which one should i buy for drawing matepad pro or ipad gen 8?

Will you test the Galaxy tab S7+ for drawing? :)
Sorry but, which app is that one?
I can't wait for the Tab s7+, Matepad pro, and ipad pro ULTIMATE SMACK DOWN!!!
Brad can you review Huawei matepad 10.4 its for students and its cheaper,I am planing to start drawing and designing on a tablet so can you tell me some choices under 400€
What Is that app?
Dear brad, do a review of nomad sculpt ( available on both android and iOS)
Can you compare this to the tab s7 when it’s out
Well, honestly if I'm going to spend on a tablet like this I want the best line quality ever, otherwise I'm keeping my Wacom Intuos even tho I know it's not the same thing. I mean, if I go for a screen drawing tablet all I ask for is precission. Still I think it's great that more brands are trying to make products to match the iPad. We need options and not just one brand to rule us all
The Samsung S tablets match the ipad for drawing. The issue is software, the ipad has better apps and third party developers, its nothing really do the respective device's abilities.
well the galaxy tabs are a thing
what is this drawingapp?
*Photo manipulation algorithm?* ....um cowboy you should have checked your terms before going to tame your new horse😂 .
Nice video Brad!
What name of the application
Can the google play store be side loaded?
watz the name of this APP?
I bought this thinking it was an iPad killer. I really think it's a great buy maybe because I never really had an iPad.
don't you just love Brad do these reviews
Brad Colbow is the only tech review I go for suggestions and reviews for artists.
I already tweeted week ago to Samsung to put you in their review pocket :)
What??? I was just browsing your uploaded videos two days ago to see if you’ve ever made a review of this tablet, just to find none. Then here it is! Brad!!! Great timing 😭🙏
Unfortunately, I’ve already ordered mine three days ago on AliExpress 😬
How much was it?
@@zennozangetsu1164
Costed me $804.99 (WIFI - 8GB+256GB bundled with the keyboard & m-pen) plus $71.44 for tax and $28.95 for expedite shipping fee. So that's about $905.38 overall.
@@marikayela I see, well good luck! You should be able to sideload the google playstore and then from there you should have a much better time than brad
You can go full screen in ibis paint! Just use the other version of it. If you press cancel At the beginning when you open it you can use it normally.
Why not download the autodesk sketchbook apk from a chrome source so get to see how it performs
I am still using my Huawei p10 in 2020. The camera is still alright. I just love their camera on the phones but it's just .... I don't want not having Google services to come back and bite in the future.
Que programa utilizaaaaas??????!!!!!!
I can get the 6GB RAM one for £299.99 what do you guys think?
My dude be cowboy now hehehehe
I was thinking when u will review this lol
You can use Petal Search App to install apps not available in AppGallery! 🙂
What drawing app is that @0:45?
medibang paint
Hi sir can i have a client using that site???
Beside saying great video Brad which you always do
I wanna mention that android is open world
You can side load any apps from their developerrs site or other launchers
For huawei situation, as along as the apps don't require GMS , you can side load it and you are pretty fine to go
Also if you are not American it will be installed with Google. I am Canadian and all out Huawei products have google on it right away.
@@vickydeezombies umm talkimg about pre-us ban huawei devices or post ban?
@@alibhg9935 I'm Canadian. I just got the p30 pro in April and they released the p40 pro here like a month ago. It's so far not banned here.
@@vickydeezombies well p30 pro had released before ban, whenever you buy it it will have full GMS support
But as far as I know p40 series dont have any GMS
But it's very easy to get it done by some developer settings and little of hacking
@@alibhg9935 good to know thanks
FINALLY a review that doesn't seem to be paid by Huawei. I was considering this tab. Thanks for saving my money for sth better.
after a few weeks of using matepad pro 10.8, I feel like huawei did not even try to meet any of apple's standards on a soft-hardware collaboration level.
I have found quite a few apps that cant exclude the fingers' input while using the pen,
had problem with video apps when attaching/detaching the keyboard, and multi-task apps.
It does have some nice interaction features with other huawei devices, like screen projection and 'airdrop'.
basically this is a nice, cheaper alternative to the ipads, with niche compromises that depends on what u need.
You can widen the ibis paint x to whole screen by turning off the app multiplier of the ibis paint x on the settings of the tablet
pretty biased review if u ask me
I completely disagree with your vision. I have this tablet and it has an excellent construction quality, it is solid, it does not fold like the iPad pro, the pen works very well and it is possible to install all applications through alternative stores. I have Krita, Painter, Artflow, Cocepts, and the Clip Paint demo installed and they all work well. this tablet also has a lot of autonomy and is more powerful and faster than the Samsung S6.
Actualy it is possible to download facebook , instagram , and twitter in matepad
My pencil is never charging and I've tried everything... It never gets past 1 % and I don't know what to do
You can always install the play store yourself. I have bought many devices over the years without it and it's rather simple to install.
It's in German (which is ok for me.), but here is a link on getting the play store on Huawei devices. www.huaweiblog.de/news/huawei-google-installieren-anleitung-neu/
For those who want Google play store, download Aurora store, it works with the Google database
Great video! (like always)!
